"Thought I'd begin by reading
a poem by Shakespeare, but then I thought...."

So, The Host is "science fiction for people who don't like science fiction…" Well, if someone doesn't like science fiction, why would they read science fiction? I found that statement really confusing.

But besides that, I really liked the idea for The Host. It sounds like SM will probably write the story in first person, but I'm hoping that she'll surprise us and do something neat like switching POV from Wanderer to Melanie Stryder each chapter, kinda like the Bartimaeus Trilogy if you've read it. Or maybe she'll pull one on us and write in third person, which I wouldn't mind one bit.

Maybe this is falls under "personal preference", but I hope there is more character development since it will only be one book, unlike Twilight. Since Twilight is a series, it gives the characters more time to develop (though to be honest there isn't much, if any), but in The Host there is only one book to focus on the characters. I like seeing characters evolve and The Host certainly has a very good chance of doing that, especially with Wanderer. And I think that if this is suppose to be a "very human story", the characters would have to develop in some way.

I hope that The Host is a sign that she is growing from her writing experiences of the Twilight series. I'd like to see that her writing can be something other than Twilight.

So, what would you like to see with The Host? Any expectations? Or are you not going to even bother with it because they're no vampires?

EDIT: Ha, I was reading a bunch of stuff on the Twilight Lexicon and it wasn't the main focus of the interview, but apparently The Host is going to be a trilogy. I was hoping for a nice single book, save some money, y'know? But I guess not. D; Link: The small question, "What's up with The Host?"
But I don't get why it says "also". Twilight has a fourth book coming out and Midnight Sun is only one book right now. Is there going to be even more from SM!?

I didn't know that the 'Host' is going to be a trilogy. I'm both happy and saddened by that news...oh well. Hopefully it'll be a good read, the plot seems interesting.

I personally love the idea that Stephenie can write a book other the Twilight series. It means she has a large imagination =3 I look up to her, JK Rowlling and Christopher Paolini. I'm writing a book myself and I only continue to get ideas from these 3

Honestly, The Host kinda sounds like the book Mind of My Mind by Octavia E. Butler. That is a great book =3

Just like Twilight was a vampire story for those who don't like vampire stories, what this means is that The Host has sci-fi but isn't purely sci-fi, it's about the characters, so you can enjoy it without being into the genre itself.

I want to read it so bad! Just not as bad as Breaking Dawn...I love Stephenie Meyer period, so there you go.

(JK Rowling, Christopher Paolini, and Stephenie Meyer are, indeed, all amazing authors I definitely idolize.)

Yeah, I'll probably check out the Host when it comes out--sounds pretty interesting. It also sounds like it'll be another book of the romance genre though. sweatdrop

Sounds interesting, I'll read it.

I can't wait to find out what her science fiction will be right. I think it's cool that she's writing in more then one genre, even if sci-fi and fantasy are closely related.

I just don't like reading books written in first person perspective if it's in the present tense.
If the book is written in past tense I don't think I'll have an issue but I personally prefer third person...
I think 'The Host' looks like it will be good. I can't wait to see what SM will turn out next!
