(Please brush up on the lore if you're intrested in seriously getting involved in the RP.It's not as much information as it may seem. This will be a rather intense, literate RP.)
(Note: This is not strictly a Mech RP. Daily conflict between those living in the colonies is highly encouraged. )
Lore
The Nation Dismantlement War The world experienced a period of rapid population growth, which put a strain on global food and energy supplies. As populations increased, so did the gap between the wealthy and the poor, and so did the unrest between the classes. Eventually, violence began to erupt and the governments quickly lost control of their populations as their cities were consumed by terrorism and anarchy. People began turning to corporations, complete with private armies, to keep them safe from the chaos.
In the midst of the meltdown, the world's six most powerful corporate conglomerates decided to do away with national governments and install their own brand of rule and law. They launched a full scale war on the nations of the world, which came to be known as the Nation Dismantlement War.
Using advanced Armored Core technology, the corporations decimated the forces of the nations and declared victory in less than a month. With the old nations of the world effectively toppled, the corporations set out to work on a new system of government.
Pax Economica The corporations dubbed their new order as the "Pax Economica", a system where loyalty and service to the corporations guaranteed food and survival. Under the Pax, however, people were forced into corporate-run colonies and essentially became slaves serving wealthy corporate masters.
The Ravens Not everyone was powerless to the corporations though. Rebels and mercenaries calling themselves "Ravens" turned against the corporations and their new order and began to fight against them. Five years have since passed when the Pax was established, and the world's population has become passive and apathetic under the new system. However, one band of Ravens was poised to change all that.
The NEXT's A new breed of weapon developed in secret, initially used as the Companies' ace in the hole during the National Dismantlement War. Though based on Normal AC technology, the combination of Akvavit's Kojima technology, Aspina's Allegorical Manipulation System, and other new breakthroughs yield a product with far greater potential. The exclusive Nexts also represent the Companies' power, as most Colonies and independent armed groups do not have access to them.
Terms (Please know and understand these terms.)
Armored Core (AC) - A large mechanized assault unit.Their massive size and insane amounts of firepower make them the most lethal weapon on the battlefield. The Normals were the first breed of ACs,but with the NDW(Nation Dismantlement War) the NEXT AC was created to wage war more efficiantly.
Allegorical Manipulation System (AMS) - Piloting system allowing those with a certain in-born psychic trait to control Nexts. Though the strain it places on pilots is considerable, it allows for an extremely high degree of AC control.
Actuator Complexity System (ACS) - The Next's new and improved system of control which far surpasses that of Normals in terms of precision. Originally researched and developed by Aldra, poor data management has cost them a great deal of advantage in the field. It is now looked at among Companies as a comparatively easily surpassed engineering hurdle.
Firing Control System (FCS) - The weapons control system that operates alongside the IRS when sighting targets.
Fractional Regulation System (FRS) - An AC control system that relays commands to each of the individual parts of the mech from the IRS.The ability of the FRS to optimize and execute control over separate parts without losing overall control gives FRS the advantage over IRS performance.. Furthermore, FRS performance can be enhanced through the addition of specialized external memory chips.
Integrated Regulation System (IRS) - The centralized AC control system stored within the craft's head. The IRS processes data output from the AMS fills in any gaps in the pilot's commands and relays them to the parts. The IRS system also handles data from the AC's camera eyes and sensors.
Overboost (OB) - Propulsion device developed through the application of Kojima technology to boosters. The conversion of a craft's Kojima particles into the OB allows for instantaneous, explosive acceleration, though it gradually weakens the craft's PA
Primal Armor (PA) - A defensive shield created by molding Kojima particles into a sustained, stable flow around the AC's exterior which is capable of greatly diminishing or entirely nullifying a wide variety of attacks. After an attack Kojima particle dispersion can lead to temporary weakening, but unlike conventional armor, PAs restore themselves with time. There are few drawbacks to using PA though it can be weak comparatively against highly penetrative weapons, and the necessity of expelling a large quantity of Kojima particles into the atmosphere risks serious environmental contamination.
Quick Boost (QB) - Though Boost technology is hardly new in Normals and other weaponry, this breakthrough technology allows for immediate acceleration in any direction over a short distance. With the Nexts' revolutionary energy provision system and the AMS's high degree of control, the Quick Boost has become one of the new ACs' characteristic features.
Originals - Title given to Linx who piloted Nexts from the time of the National Dismantlement War, which is to say from the very outset of Next technology. Over half of the Linx in existence are Originals, with the number of post-war additions still extremely few. A strong sense of being one of a chosen few pervades the ranks of the Originals, who were numbered from one through 26 following the war, in the order of their battlefield accomplishments.
RP Storyline It is the peak of conflict between the major corporations. All out war has broken out as the 6 corporations have built their millitary strength to the max, recruiting and training many NEXT pilots for their crusades. The layout revolves around the Settlement of Anatolia. The 6 corporations NEXT pilots have started their assault on Anatolia and nearby villages from their own respective base camps.
Rules / Profile Layout 1.Keep it PG-13 2.Fighting encouraged(Basically the whole point!) as well as romance. 3. Please post with some form of literacy. 4. Know your knowledge if your going to be a NEXT pilot.
Classes NEXT Pilot: These are the pilots of the NEXT's. They have been born with a psychic trait that allows them to function with the AMS system of the NEXT. They undergo extreme physical strain when piloting the NEXT due to having their mind and body hooked into the mech.Any damage to the craft also affects the pilot inside.
Field Commander: They relay information to the NEXT pilots in the field. They do not pilot NEXTs,they are more of a consultant for pilots and track enemy movement from the saftey of their base.
Civilian: A civilian of the colony Anatolia. They live under fear of death from the giant NEXT mechs that assault their home. They may hold jobs such as mechanics for the Ravens,or other various forms of work.
Factions Corporations(Those who are assaulting Anatolia) 1. Bernard and Felix Foundation 2. Eqbal 3. Global Armaments 4. Leonemeccanica 5. Rayleonard 6. Rosenthal
Anatolia 1.The Ravens(Mercenaries, those defending the innocent civilians of Anatolia.) 2.The Anatolians

Profiles Gaia name:Katasaku Name:Katasaku Hietsu Class: NEXT Pilot Faction: The Ravens Age: 25 Bio: Katasaku was born 20 years before the NDW.He had joined an AC piloting academy at a young age, showing extreme skill while in the cockpit of a normal. As the NDW rolled around,it was found out Katasaku in fact was born with the psychic trait allowing him to interact with the AMS system of the NEXT AC units being developed. He immediatley transfered to begin training in piloting a NEXT unit for the colony of Anatolia. He personally oversaw the construction of his NEXT,naming it the Quintenssence and making sure it was built to his preferences. The mech was to be as agile as possible, focused on close range combat. The war had ended and Katasaku had come out alive. As it turns out after returning home to Anatolia, his call to duty was not over yet. Picture: Katasaku______________________________________________________________Gaia Name: KaiTenSatsuma Character Name: Derrik Justly Class: Civilian (Mechanic) Faction: Ravens Age: 20 Bio: Derrik grew up on Mars during the Corporation Wars, nearly every week Derrik, his friends and his family would have to evacuate the surface into one of the several bunkers that had been built underground earlier that century due to paranoia of aliens coming back, There were no aliens, but every week one person they loved and cared about was never seen again. Now after the Wars, Derrik was the only person left in his family and only two of his friends still lived, scarred by the destruction of all they knew.
When it all ended Derrik went to the Haven and requested to become an apprentice mechanic, There would always be battles to be fought, thirst for power of money, that much he understood, and the Haven was one of the few places that was truly safe. Now he serves as the mechanic for a new Raven, one Stephanie Gunn, "Gunn Down" and takes jobs for whatever other Raven may need him. Picture: Derrik

Katasaku let out a sigh,as he sunk back into the cockpit of the Quintessence. He rubbed his forehead as sweat trickled down his pale cheeks. He gazed at the control panel, the video screen flickering gently with a hint of static here and there. His arm flexed as his grip on the control panel increased. He gritted his teeth, trying to force the pain out of his arm.The left arm of his NEXT had been struck by a PA piercing round, driving straight through its armor plating. It felt as if somone had taken a knife through Katasaku's arm. This was a pain he was used to. Having piloted a NEXT through the NDW no kind of pain could hold him back from doing his job.Gazing across the fields in front of him he couldn't help but smirk. It was littered with the smoldering remains of Norm AC units. They were trash heaps in the eyes of Katasaku. They looked to be Rayleonard constructs.Katasaku figured they wouldn't have tried something as foolish as assaulting the west gate so soon,as Rayleonard was one of the top corporations at the time.
Slowly he eased his boosters on,bringing the NEXT airborn.Cracking his knuckles he eased his arms into the control panel, cutting a 180 degree turn and heading back to dock at the Anatolia hanger. His mech cut through the skies at a blinding speed as the colony of Anatolia rolled into view over the horizon.Katasaku cut the throttle on the boosters and started to drop from the sky. He slammed on his back thrusters before he hit the ground, softening the load on the NEXT's frame as it made a rather sluggish impact, sending a shockwave through the ground. He radioed in to the Anatolia west gate watch tower, gaining access to enter the colony.Flipping the horizontal boosters on he eased his way through the west gates as they creaked open, making his way over to the hanger. He cut his boosters as he neared the hanger, brought the NEXT to a walk, and entered the large bay.He manuvered himself over to his dock.Katasaku gently tapped his comm, making sure it was on. "Left forearm punctured by a PA round.Highly in need of repair.Activate the locks on dock #17 and send a crew down." Katasaku winced slightly as he disconnected himself from the AMS system. No matter how many times he endured it,the pain never went away. Some times Katasaku couldn't come to terms with the fact that he and his NEXT were one in the same. When he was in that cockpit,he was the NEXT,not just it's pilot.Katasaku yawned and stretched his arms behind his head as he unlatched the cockpit door and hopped out onto the dock.He was tired after spending several hours in the field, causing only two things to be on his mind.He staggered off to get some grub in his stomach and relax.

((Wow, I totally love the Armored Core games so this is amazing. I'm a little intimidated by the terms (that I know but always seem to forget). I'll consider applying if more people join. Maybe save me a spot as a Next pilot?))

(( Just curious, how do you intend to have people bring out their Mechs? Maybe taking pictures of their own from their games, or writing down the statistics? Because, Well I'm eager to join but I wouldn't know where to start.))

(( It might end up being a bit strange if you get deep into the statistics of your Mech's setup. I want to keep within range for a wide variety of people. If we end up dumping a huge amount of stats into the RP,it may scare away many potential people.
Armored Core is sort of like Gundam. Entirely different franchise, but it is based on giant Mechs.
I made the first post as kind of a basis to round off what the RP might include, but by no means would your imagination be restricted. Unless you decide to run off outside the bounds of AC Lore, then it might get a bit strange.
I'm trying to get it to be rather simple, just an average RP,yet still have that solid AC feel to it.))

Derrik woke up to the sound of the mail alert on his laptop. Yawning he stretched out on his bed and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. "Hmm steph couldn't be back yet" He recalled that his "official" pilot was still out doing basic training. "Dammit I wouldn't need to be doing this if the last guy didnt walk into that" he cursed silently, The new pilots never took good advice when they heard it, He tried to warn the last guy that the area his sortie was in was a minefield, so investing some money into a pair of hover legs would have been wise. Derrik was promptly told to "******** off- I'm in a higher bracket than you" So Derrik had some small satisfaction watching his heavy Armored Core bounce from mine to mine.
Smiling at the memory he chastised himself for it "Even an incompetent pilot is worth a thousand soldiers." But he reminded himself the only way the last guy could have been worth that many men was if his mech fell on them.
He stood up and walked over to the laptop and tapped the email icon "Hm mech arriving at Dock 17, Reported heavily damaged arm, probably needs a new one, probable damage to general body, hm?" He noticed something "NEXT pilot huh? Better head down there" He tapped out an acqusition form for replacement parts and started down the hall to the Docking Bay

Katasaku yawned and stretched his arms behind his head as he left his quarters. He wandered down to the docks, swinging himself up on a railing overlooking his NEXT unit. His legs swayed back and forth as he waited patiently for a mechanic to show up.Katasaku looked down at his watch and folded his arms impatiently as his gaze shifted about the docking bay.The sound of creaking metal and welding echoed throughout the large hollow chamber. It seemed like plenty of work was being done elsewhere while his NEXT sat dormant.

As he walked down the hall Derrik briefly considered the email, Since traditionally pilots each get their own mechanics to consult, why was he called in on this? "And why the hell does the walk from dock 30 to dock 17 have to be so damn long?" he sighed in disdain. He did have some small power to call in mechanic crews but he didn't have any on standby since his last pilot saw fit to fire his own before his last sortie "Guess I'll have to fill out the requesition forms later" and speeded up his pace.
He pulled his standard issue PDA from his pocket and began tapping our a request for status on the NEXT pilot's AC, the message came from the overseer soon. "Waiting on team, but what is it your business?" The reply went "They messaged me for this one, send in a team ahead of me I'm at least 10 minutes away" and continued down the long hall to #17.

Reaching the large steel doors to Derrik sighs, and inputs the entrance code.
"Lets get down to business, whats the estimated cost of the damage to the AC and for the ammo" He says, addressing the nearby overseer for Dock 17
"Left arms got a decent sized hole in it, going to cost about 1000 credits for that one, his weapon is energy so no ammo cost, the general body damage isn't too bad, the arm was the worst, it adds up to 1500 credits plus work expenses which will be 10%, 1650 credits." replies the man, reading from the list in his hands.
Derrik whistles "must be a pretty good pilot to get that little damage, I've seen some people wipe out their commission because they took too many hits, some guys got so deep into debt they had to scrap their AC just to break even."
The man chuckles "You must be new with NEXT pilots, these guys have to take as little damage as possible or they die in a worse way than a regular AC pilot, what do you know about NEXT?"
A voice breaks the conversation between Derrik and the man off, another mechanic runs up to Derrik and says quickly "Chief Mechanic, We're going to need your help with the arm, we can't get it moving and half of the hole is being blocked by the rest of the AC"
Considering his options Derrik looks back to the overseer "I might not know much about NEXT but I know more than enough about ACs in general", grinning he walks off to inspect the damage

Katasaku folded his arms and swung his legs around back onto the docking bay platform. His eyes fixed back upon his NEXT as they got back to work on it. 'Hmmph..They better not scuff my paint job up..' Katasaku closed his eyes and laughed quietly to himself. He grit his teeth and let out a quiet grunt as he put pressure on his left arm. Even though he was disconnected from his NEXT,the Allegorical Manipulation System had strange ways of effecting the brain. The mental bond it created between man and machine tweaked the brains normal functions. Even if the NEXT pilot had no visible wounds, internal or external, the brain still managed to send the message to the nerves in the area of the wound inflicted upon the NEXT,causing extreme pain for the pilot. Many considered it a small side effect when compared to the agility and control gained from the systems unique properties, but the pilots themselves often think different after experiancing it firsthand. Then again, most NEXT pilots have no choice but to pilot or die.

Derrik climbed up to the cockpit and looked around and muttered "where was that console" He closed his eyes and concentrated
The locatiion of the hole in the arm made it likely that a new one was needed or else the movement wouldnt match the FCS on the screen, But considering the circumstances he didn't know if he should, according to the overseer removing the arm would "probably do a hell load of damage to the pilot", Derrik needed to find the console to release the arm's locking mechanism so it could be manipulated to allow the crews to get at both sides of the hole.
He turned and shouted to a nearby mechanic "Hey where's the lock release console?" The man put his fist up to his chin for a moment and shouted back "Look for a panel in the floor near the seat, anything else?" Derrik thought for a second and replied "Yeah, go warn the pilot we're bout to loosen the arm, if the overseer's right his arm might go limp from this" and went about finding the panel.
After a few moments of using his screwdriver as a wedge the panel covering the console was off and Derrik was off, typing in the master code and commands to access the list of options, This wasn't a fancy visual screen, it was about four inches high and six inches wide and consisted of a blur of coding statements flying by, anyone who accessed this had to have an idea of what they were looking for or they would be working for half an hour with no avail. Derrik sat down for a breather and looked at the interior of the NEXT.
