-It wasn't like Xu to cry. It'd been ages since she last had in fact. Despite all the sorrow and worries of life at late she always managed with a smile. She had plenty to be happy for after all. And there was always hope.
But today wasn't a day like any other. First of all, the sun was high, mid noon, baking it's heat and glory onto the savvanah. And instead of slipped away in a cave napping Xu was out, surrounded in a sea of grasses.
The gentlest hint of wind could be heard ruffling the grasses, but other then that the only sound was the strained inhales of air inbetween nearly silent sobs. Curled, green-grey eyes hidden beneath an ivory paw the lioness wept.
She didn't know why really... nor if it really made her feel better. But it had happened upon her so suddenly, and now she could not stop. Dispair and hopelessness tugged at the usually bright soul, and Xu curled tighter against the warmth of the day.-

Jini was out for a walk. He was no scout, nor hunter, but that didn't mean he didn't enjoy going out for a bit. But the male didn't wander past the pride's borders any longer. His restlessness, his feeling of being lost had been ammended of late. Faye was with him and he couldn't possibly ask for anything more. He was happy, he was complete. It was funny how one person could change his life.
He paused in his light lope, blinking his green eyes as he heard something. Was someone crying? "Hello?" He called out, concern coating his voice like sweet honey and it was genuine, "Is someone there...?" He walked more carefully through the tall green stalks, searching for whoever was upset and perhaps in a need of a friend.

-Her ears twitched up at the sound, and she curled herself more, sniffling to try and stop the tears. It was no use though. She could quite them a little, but still they trickled to spite her.
She pondered over trying to be quiet, seeing if they left, but warred between the thoughts that that was not only rude but also unlikely to happen. So hitching her voice as best as she could, which only wavered a little as it called over the grasses, she replied.- "Not anyone important."
-Perhaps the vaguely familar voice would take the hint and take off. She half hoped he wouldn't.-

Jini stopped at the voice, turning his ears in the direction of the sound. It seemed vaguely familiar..."T-that's silly," he murmured, looking genuinely worried that someone would think themselves unimportant, "Everyone's important Miss...umm..." He knew it was a female by the tone, but he didn't normally identify people by their voice. Shifting a little farther into the brush he finally stopped, seeing the white form of one of his aunts. "A-ah! Miss Xu..." he frowned, looking sad, "Are you alright?"

-He breathing and sob hitched in surprise as the voice called out her name. It was someone who knew her? Silently she tried to will the tears to stop, but had to make due with them simply slowing. For as much as she tried they would not go away completely. But when they'd slowed to a mere trickle, she lifted her water soaked eyes to catch the familar figure, picking out the unique patterns of Jini quite easily.
Sucking in a deep breath, to try and answer back her newphew that was strangely older then her, she found herself momentarily at a lack of words. It was shameful.. would he go tell everyone now? That he'd found her here? His own sad expression however finally drew an answer from her, in the form of a wide sigh.- "I don't know.. I'll be fine really..."
