Intro Despite being polar opposites in terms of purpose the field of poisons and medicine often intertwine. Too often a small dose of the herb actually helps the body's natural healing process, while a larger dose is used with intent to kill.
Poisons are often used in assassinations and are ideal for subtle killings. Administer small doses of poison continuously and the effects of the poison will appear to be just disease. Alternatively large doses of concentrated poison can kill quickly and effectively.
Making antidotes to well-constructed poisons is tricky and one needs to have considerable skill, concentration and chakra control (if extracting) in order to succeed. Of course, there are alternative methods that work as well, although the success method is not as high.
We shall attempt to present the information in a concise way in order to help you find your way around easier.

Poisonous Herbs and Fungi
Fungi Most poisonous fungi is brightly coloured to warn people of their harmfulness. Their gills are white and they mostly have a warty cap and a hollow stem. Some of them have a milky juice and most change colour when cut or broken.
Amanita family The Amanita family are often-used poisonous mushrooms. A few mushrooms is all it takes for the damage to start and it is easy to slip mushrooms in a meal. Symptoms of the poisoning include a headache, sluggishness, fever, wild delirium, extreme fatigue and eventually cardiac (heart) paralysis. Effect: -500 Hp, unable to function, then death after one RP day. Antidote: 1 Belladonna or similar herb, Treat Injury DC 50 To Extract: Chakra Control DC 60 Fortitude DC: 75
Fly-agaric A red-capped toadstool that induces hysteria. Effect: All checks -10 for 6 RP hours. Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 40 Fortitude DC: 40
Herbs
Aconite [Aconitum napellus] All of its parts are poisonous but the most dangerous bits are the young seedpods and roots, the roots being most potent in winter. Fatal aconite poisoning results in chest pain, irregularly extreme anxiety, irregular heartbeat, nausea, the contraction of the pupils, the numbness of the throat, hands and mouth and vomiting. The victim dies due to respiratory failure. Effect: -80 Hp, then all checks -15, death in 1 RP day Special: Effect multiplied by 1.5 during the winter months (December - February) Antidote: 1 Foxglove or similar herb, Treat Injury DC 40 To Extract: Chakra Control DC 45 Fortitude DC: 38
Belladonna/Deadly Nightshade [Atropa belladonna] The deadly nightshade or belladonna is a small black flower. All parts of this part are poisonous but mainly the berries are used in the act. Symptoms of fatal belladonna poisoning include a rapid pulse, a dryness of the mouth and throat and difficulty in swallowing, a headache, scarlet rashes, blurred vision and/or hallucinations and muscle convulsions. The victim will lose all control over his muscles and will fall into a coma, leading eventually to death. The symptoms of belladonna poisoning are extremely similiar to rabies and only medical professionals can tell the difference by noting the dilation of the pupils. Effect: Hp -175, unable to function, death in 12 RP hours. Antidote: 1 Opium or similar herb, Treat Injury DC 50 To Extract: Chakra Control DC 60 Fortitude DC: 65
Cantharides/Spanish Fly Weak compared to the others, cantharides is a powerful urinary irritant. It can cause burns and blistering in the digestive and urinary tracts and overdoses may result in convulsions. Effect: -25 Hp, injured pride? Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 35 Fortitude DC: 20
Foxglove/Digitalis Foxglove leaves contain the poison which affects the brain and senses, as well as affecting heartbeat. Foxglove juice in very diluted form can also induce vomiting. Effect: Hp -60, all checks -25 until cured Antidote: 1 Belladonna or similar herb, Treat Injury DC 45 To Extract: Chakra Control DC 40 Fortitude DC: 45
Gorso A black grass which looks dead. This plant is known for brewing the toxic gas known as Cyanide. Effect: -- Antidote: -- Ingredient in: Cyanide
Hemlock [Conium maculatum] All parts of this plant are poisonous - the warmer the weather is, the more poisonous this plant will be. Hemlock poisoning causes vertigo and the victim will feel a numbness near the surface of the body that spreads inwards, paralysing the heart and lungs. Additional symptoms include nervousness, trembling, incoordination, dilated pupils, a weak heartbeat, cold fingers and toes and a coma, leading to death via respiratory failure. It is also the antidote to strychnine poisoning. Effect: Hp -40, unable to move, death after 2 RP days. Special: Effect multiplied by 1.5 during the summer months (June - August) Must be used Fresh. Antidote: 3 Coffee Beans or Castor Oil or 2 Myrrh, Treat Injury DC 45 To Extract: Chakra Control 35 Fortitude DC: 55
Nux Vomica [Strychnos nux vomica] In doses of 5 milligrams (30-50 mg of the seeds, or even 1 seed) or more this poison causes anxiety, restlessness, painful convulsions, breathing difficulties and death. This herb contains strychnine, which is incidentally an antidote. Effect: Hp -75, all checks -20, death after 1 RP day. Land Animal Poisons
Frog Slime Frogs are found in humid, marshy areas and certain types of rainforest frogs are extremely poisonous. Poison oozes from their very skin and even the slightest touch can kill. The most poisonous variety of the poisonous frogs are the golden ones, followed by the red and blue ones. Frog slime poison works by targeting the nervous system. Only a small amount of the toxin is required for it to work, leading to muscle paralysis. Muscular convulsions, respiratory paralysis and death by heart failure follows.
Golden frogs A golden frog contains enough venom to kill 10 men. Only 2 milligrams of this prized poison is required to kill a human, but it is difficult to extract due to the frog's rarity. As a result golden frog poison sells for a whole lot of money. Effect: Hp -500, death in 1 RP hour. Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 80 Fortitude DC: 80
Red and blue frogs These frogs are also poisonous, but less poisonous than golden frogs. To extract venom these frogs have to be stressed in order to get them to secrete the useful toxins. Common methods for stressing these amphibians include burning and impaling. Effect: Hp -200, all checks -10 until cured. Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 30 Fortitude DC: 30
Toad Toad poison is far from deadly, but annoying enough to make it a popular pranking method. Effect: -1 Hp, all checks -2, WARTS ALL OVER HANDS, itchiness Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 15 Fortitude DC: 10 Special: Wears off after 2 RP days.
Snake, Spider, Scorpion or Insect Venom
Snakes
Boomslang Boomslangs are large snakes that can reach up to 1.8m in length. Boomslang skin disables the blood clotting process which means that the victim can and will die from bloodloss. Other symptoms include headache, nausea, sleepiness and mental disorders. However, the venom acts slowly and may not appear until hours after the bite, which makes it effective for assassination without time limit. 5 milligrams of boomslang venom is all that is required to kill an adult man. Effect: Hp -150, all checks -15 after 2 RP hours, then death after five more RP hours. Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 60 Fortitude DC: 60
Rattlesnake These snakes are some of the most aggressive; their size helps into its ferocity. The venom is one of the most lethal because of its fast action. It can kill in just a few hours. An estimated lethal human dose is between 90-100mg of venom. Most of the toxin released is proteolytic. Proteolytic venoms are, in fact, advanced and concentrated fluids that destroy tissues and other cells through intramolecular digestion. A few toxic effects include: cytotoxic (destoys cells), hemotoxic (destroys red blood cells), myotoxic (causes paralysis and muscle destruction), hemorrhagic (causes persistent bleeding). Smaller amounts of neurotoxins (destroys nervous system) are also present. Effect: Hp -100, death in 4 RP hours, all checks -5 Antidote: 2 Black Cohosh, Treat Injury DC 45 To Extract: Chakra Control DC 75 Fortitude DC: 40
Spiders
Black Widow Spider A deadly spider venom. Even the small dose the spider injects because of its small body can be lethal. If enough venom is injected into a person's body, there is initially a severe pain in local muscles. Then the Venom reaches the blood system and gets carried around all the body making all muscles contract causing great pain. May cause death if enough venom is induced in the body and if it reaches the heart. Pretty fast acting venom. Paralysis within 2 to 8 hours. Effect: Unable to move after 2 RP hours. Death in 1 RP day. Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 50 Fortitude DC: 45
Six-eyed sand spiders Possibly the most lethal spider in the world. Fortunately for people it is rarely found and will not bite unless severely provoked. Effect: Hp -400, all checks -3, death after 2 RP days. Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 80 Fortitude DC: 70
Scorpions
Fat tailed Scorpion venom One of the most poisonous scorpions to humans. Its venom acts rapidly on its victim. The poison is mostly used for paralysis but a big dose of it can be lethal too because of its potent neurotoxins if applied directly to the blood stream. May take effect about after an hour and paralysis may last up to 10 hours. Effect: Unable to move after 1 RP hour until 10 RP hours later. Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 60 Fortitude DC: 65 Special: If given in a concentrated dose (more than 5 at once) death in 12 RP hours.
Insects
Beetles There is a certain type of beetle that is poisonous, the beetles of the genus Diamphidia. The poison is derived from squeezing either the larva or pupae of the beetle into a container. One can also dry the larva and sprinkle the powder into food. However, the poison is slow-attacking and an injured animal can travel 40-70 miles (64-112km) before dying. Effect: Hp -15 for each RP day, death in one RP week. Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 25 Fortitude DC: 30
Lonomia Caterpillars The Lonomia genus caterpillars dwell in rainforests and are extremely venomous. However they are very hard to find due to their camouflage and poison is hard to extract (They can be found grouping together on the bark of trees). A mere touch of the caterpillar is enough for its venom to be released via its hairs which can sting obviously. Two or three caterpillar stings is the fatal dose for the Lonomia poison. Symptoms include massive internal bleeding, kidney failure and destruction of the blood. Rather dramatic and the symptoms of Lonomia poisoning are rather easy to identify. Effect: Hp goes down to 10% of original, death after six RP hours. Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 80 Fortitude DC: 75

Marine Animal Poisons
Least toxic to most toxic.
Sea Lice These small jellyfish are common all along the coastal regions of Kirigakure. While their toxin isn't deadly or even particularly dangerous, it is a favorite among the younger crowd for practical jokes. The effects are normally mild skin irritation, lasting several hours, and in rare cases, days. Effect: Damage 1 - 3 Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 15 Fortitude DC: 12
Fire Jellyfish These jellyfish are slightly more dangerous. Their toxins are applied to the surface. The affected area begins to burn and itch. Pink weals rise up on the area, with the surrounding skin being red. The effects can last anywhere from two to three days. These creatures are found in open water, away from the shoreline. Effect: Damage 2 - 5 Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 15 Fortitude DC: 15
Sea Nettle Sea Nettles are commonly found near beaches and other shorelines. The toxin most often results in a burning skin pain along with a burning throat. Coughing and a watery nasal discharge are also common. The toxin can be applied either through the skin or ingested. Effect: Damage 2 - 6 Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 15 Fortitude DC: 15
Sea Anemone The unique creatures can be found up and down Kirigakure's coral reef or sometimes buried in the sand in deeper waters. The toxin is normally placed on weapons since the effect is temporary paralysis. The effect is immediate -- within a minute -- and lasts anywhere from 10 - 12 hours. Effect: Paralysis (1 Post) Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 20 Fortitude DC: 15
Lionfish The spines on this fish are filled with a poison that typically causes severe pain and swelling. The fish can be found swimming near the Coral Reef. The effects last a week or so depending on the amount of toxin used. Upon application -- usually through a wound -- the poison takes effect within minutes. Effect: Damage 5 - 8 Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 20 Fortitude DC: 16
Crown-of-Thorns Starfish This creature can normally be found on the coral reefs where it feeds. The toxin causes immediate pain which lasts for hours. Within the hour, the skin around the infected area is swollen and a dark blue in color. This can last for weeks. The nausea and vomiting set in within 24 hours and last several weeks, as well. Effect: Damage 5 - 9 [For 2 posts] Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 20 Fortitude DC: 20
Box Jellyfish The effects from this poison begin with a mild skin pain that slowly spreads as the poison makes its way through the bloodstream. In large doses, this toxin can even cause respiratory and cardiac failure, leading to death. The Box Jellyfish can be found along the coast. Effect: Damage 8 - 14 Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 20 Fortitude DC: 22
Rabbitfish The spines on the Rabbitfish contain a neurotoxin. The toxin always causes seizures and respiratory paralysis. Some side effects can include vomiting, hallucinations, agitation and anxiety, and muscle cramps. Regardless of which symptoms are shown, all last approximately 12 - 30 hours. THe Rabbitfish are most often found along the coral reefs. Effect: Damage 8 - 14, -5 on Dodge checks Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 30 Fortitude DC: 28
Stonefish The spines of the stonefish contain a toxin which causes severe pain. This is followed by shock, paralysis, and tissue death. Unless the antidote is received within 24 hours, death will ensue. The Stonefish is only found near coral reefs and is hard to spot due to its unique coloration. Effect: Damage 15 - 30 (5 posts), -5 on strength mod Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 40 Fortitude DC: 30
Man-o'-War These gigantic jellyfish are mostly found in open water unless a storm blows them closer to shore. The toxins effects begin with a burning skin pain. Nausea and vomiting set in soon afterwards along with muscle pains, chest pains, and difficulty breathing. Death is the end result unless medical treatment and an antidote are obtained quickly. Effect: Damage 20 - 35, -5 strength mod, -5 Dex mod Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 40 Fortitude DC: 30
Cigarette Snail The highly venomous snails can be found on the seabeds in deeper waters or along the coral reefs. They shoot barbs that cause intense pain. Swelling, tingling, numbness, muscle paralysis, and finally respiratory failure follow within minutes. This creature is called the Cigarette Snail because after being stung, the victim has only enough time to smoke one cigarette before dying in about 3-5 min. This poison is not sold to the other villages and is reserved for Kirigakure shinobi only. Because there is no known antivenom. Effect: Damage 40 - 55 [10 Posts], Paralysis Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 65 Fortitude DC: 50
Blue-ringed Octopus This sea creature is only the size of a golf ball but is the most toxic creature in the sea. It is always found on coral reefs. The toxin takes effect immediately, beginning with motor paralysis, respiratory arrest, and finally death. All of this occurs within 1-3 min. This poison is not sold to the other villages and is reserved for Kirigakure shinobi only. Because there is no known antivenom. Effect: Damage 40 - 55 [15 Posts], Paralysis, Mute Antidote: -- To Extract: Chakra Control DC 80 Fortitude DC: 75

Curing Poison
Antidotes The antidotes are stated next to the poisons whenever available. Please note that although you need 1 of the plant for an antidote, this is only for convenience purposes and strictly speaking you should RP getting and diluting the juice before giving it to the patient. So we don't see people giving patients belladonna and end up killing them instead...
Other Methods
Vomit Inducing If the poison was recently administered (before 1 RP hour has passed) the victim's life can possibly be saved by making him vomit out the poison before it takes effect. He can try the traditional method of the sticking of the fingers down the throat (or you can do it for him!), or alternatively ingest vomit-inducing herbs like Squirting Cucumber or small amounts of Foxglove, etc.
Charcoal Activated charcoal prevents the body from absorbing the poison if ingested quickly enough [before 1 RP hour has passed]. However it does not work against metals, alcohols, acids, alkalis and glycols.
Extracting with Chakra You will need considerable skill in control and concentration when attempting to extract poison with chakra. The DCs required to extract the poison are listed with the poison.
