So I was debating with this dude through PM, who seems to think that
the music we listen to (of the 60s and 70s) will not be around forever.
Apparently Classical is so influential that it will never be forgotten. But
what about all the bands that Classic Rock has inspired today? I think that,
in our generation in particular, bands like Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Beatles,
AC/DC, etc. are far more influential than any Classical. And let's not forget
about the music that influenced the great bands of the 60s and 70s, they
have not been forgotten. Great music will never die. Unless the earth blows
up, or music is banned and everyone who never forgot about it dies out..
xd

But what about Music of today? Bands like MCR, Fall Out Boy, Sum 41, etc.
Will they inspire music in 30 years? Will everyone forget about Led Zeppelin?

Will they be the futures golden oldies?

I think bands like MCR Fall Out Boy and Etc.. will be forgotten to a certain extent. because its like emo/screamo rock (and the look) is now if you will todays version of hair metal I don't think they will survive as strongly as others will. Purely for the fact that bands that do stick around Led Zeppelin, AC/DC etc... all had something to do with changing the style in which they played. Each band did something that made them unique. whereas when you listen to alot of todays bands (the BIG ones) they all sound so similar ((withing their own genre of course) It can be hard to tell them apart.

I hope that MCR won't be as influential to my kids as Led Zeppelin is to me.
I had an argument with a guy who thought MCR was/is the new Beatles. You can't really top The Beatles. Everyone knows who they are, they're virtually incapable of being hated, they have the biggest albums out there, they broke tons of records for arenas and ticket sales, and they have a bazillion different items of memorabilia.

MCR certainly has a LOT to stand up for if they're going to be the next Beatles.

When I'm old, (50, 60) I will certainly keep my record player and LPs and Led Zeppelin and Queen CDs.

It's like I was talking to my friend and later my mom too about. I think I'd probably die if I ever had kids and they were influenced by summa that stuff rather than Led Zeppelin and the Beatles and other great bands. Maybe that's just 'cause I grew up off it and am hardly fond of a lot of new stuff but... XD All the same.

I hope that music from the 60's and 70's, some of the greatest music ever made, will indeed live on. I know that, at least where I'm from, there's not a whole lot of people who give a crap about it, unless they were old enough to have been around when said bands were popular, or are just one of the few kids who like what their parents did. And even if they say that they like it, most of them just say it to sound cool. >: That's the majority of people around here, anyways.

But I think there will always be people who will remember them. <3

Music will change with the times. Hopefully, this emo crap doesn't happen again. I swear I'll twist and turn in my grave if it does. D:

But, after this passes and the kids who are cool and listen to Zep become rock stars, all will be good.. cool

I will raise my children on Zepp and stuff. I grew up with mariachi and this other mexican stuff, but luckily, my mum had a greatest hits CD of the Beatles. I would sing and dance to it, and listen to it over and over again. If you try listening to it now, the quality is so crappy 'cos it's always skipping. xD

That made me lol.

@ Stickeh- I agree, hopefully Zeppelin will live on like Mozart and Beethoven and Bach have. They were from like the 1700's/1800's, right?
So why wouldn't Zep be immortalized like that?
