Uri was wandering out of his area again, widening his ptrol beyond the Duma'bara...hoping for traces of Kari or Dimu. Anything, from a scent marker to a few strands of shed fur would have been comforting. Using his sense of smell alone he'd have been able to tell from such things if either of his girls were okay. His 'daughter'. His...his...
With a sigh and a flick of his tail, he stopped examining a patch of tall grass that did have taces of a lioness, but not Dimu. He had to sort all this out. She was a good friend, it should never have gone beyond that.
So much for flirting never hurting anyone.
Xana roamed around as usual, always crouching low while working, but not right now. There seemed to be no one around that was worth thieving from this time around. His golden eyes sweeped over the savanna, taking in everything he could see. There were a few blobs of entities but no one stuck out to him. His gaze fell onto a strange figure. Tall and lanky just as he was. A cheetah perhaps? This was interesting....
Slowly, he crept closer, keeping his scent downwind from his so he could not detect him too easily.
It wasn't long until Uri detected the other cheetah. It was his job after all to keep track of animals on the savannah. His strip of land on the borders of the cheetah-lands had to be kept safe, after all, so nothing could get at the females and cubs towards the centre.
This however was a bit away from there, and his fellow male wasn't another border patroller he recognised. Uri called out a greeting from a distance - "Hello?"
He smirked in his sheltered grass before standing up, grinning deviously. Not many have actually caught him while he snuck around, then again he wasn't entirely trying to since he had no initiative. He looked at him and grinned.
"Hello there stranger. Sharp senses you have there, not many have actually been able to catch me that easily. What profession are you? Guard? Nanny?"
"Nanny?" Uri chuckled good naturedly.
"I'm a guard and one of the patrol for the cheetah-lands, the Duma'bara. And who are you, stranger?" Hmm. Not a bad looking guy, whoever he was, and good at keeping himself unnoticed. Maybe he'd prove interesting.
"I don't give out my name just that easily, I am afraid. Knowing my name is a weapon in itself," he chuckled and shrugged. " You could call me whatever you want. Xivati if you like. It was the name of the coalition I was in before I became a rogue."
He did not want to say it but he was not that into coalitions. A group of fools that shared the same ideals that seemed to get nowhere. He was in one once and they used him to their advantage, stealing away items that would lure certain females back to it. One could imagine what next. Luckily, there was a raid of a more powerful group of felines and it was over. He was not stupid enough to stick around.
"Probably wise. Names have power or so they say...though most creatures around this area are of the trusting, kindly sort, so I doubt you have anything to fear." Uri's tone clearly negated the idea he was trying to insult the other cheetah. In fact, it suggested he found all the loving sweeteness a bit sickening at times. Except with Dimu. They at least had intelligent conversations together and didn't act like they were on crazy baboon love drugs...
"But I won't use a false name either nor give mine in return for nothing. So I suppose tchnically we must remain strangers."
"Well then, stranger it is," he grinned, dipping his head a little, glaring up at him. He never had a male like him around before. It was hard to put his paw on it but he reminded him of someone he knew. He smirked a bit. "As much as I would believe that, and let me tell you, I hope that is true, my name is a danger to me as it is already. I cannot have others knowing it just yet."
He jerked his head around when he felt his tail twitched. Something was unnerving him... something was out of sorts here. He glanced back at the male and smiled a little, such a fake. "So what do you do around here, Stranger? Anything interesting? Anywhere?"
"Guard, patrol, be bored out of my mind. The coalition isn't bad, infact, it's barely invasive at all in ones life - everyone gets along fine alone and just watch each others backs. But where's the fun in that? I might start to travel again." Uri ignored the glare and the mention of the stranger's name being dangerous. It reminded him of a cub he'd once known, trying to be 'badass'. He'd finish up thsi polite little chat after a while. Continue his search.
"And have you a destination in mind? Or are you just travelling? These aren't the most interesting lands." But first manners dictated he ask a question in turn.
"Oh but I'd have to disagree. There is a lot of interesting things in this land, you just have no idea where to look, Stranger," he smirked. He was a thief, it was obvious that this cheetah did not know what was interesting to oneself if he weren't him. He wanted things, things that belonged to other. And that is the reason why others cannot know his name. If someone knew him, they would hunt him down. Only those he trusts enough to stay faithful to him knew it. Or someone he was interested in.
"I planned to stay here for a while."
"Goodluck then, in settling here and in all your ventures." He smiled, a little bland, becoming disinterested once more. This one seemed no threat to the Dumu cats, not in anyway that worried Uri. The cubs were too well protected, for all that Uri cared, and food as plentiful so why worry? The females, to, were all paired off. Again, not that Uri really cared anymore...
He lifted his muzzle to the wind again, seeking that scent of the white lioness. Hmm...maybe, maybe...
"Right, I am settled outside the Pride Land's border so I am all good at 'settling in', Stranger." he scoffed a bit before turning his back to him. His eyes glanced around again for a promising target that may have something valuable to take. It seemed like this place was bountiful.
"you seemed distracted, you could just go."
"I will then. There's someone I need to find. But it's manners to greet those who come up to you."
"Or did you mean to stalk me?" He sneered. "Good by stranger!" He then put on a burst of speed, flatout, as their kind was famed for. Dimu's scent was on the wind, she was visiting again after weeks away, and the stranger with no name was already out of Uri's mind.
