Ushu sat at the border of the Pridelands and brooded, a frown on his face as his soft ears pressed into his soft mane. All his life... all his life, he'd lived inside this border, and never had he stepped outside, not even one paw. Why did he now feel like the invisible line was choking him? He felt... smothered by the warm sense of home that surrounded him.
The prince sighed as he glanced back over his shoulder, taking in the sight of his home to compair to the rogue lands as he turned back. Here he was... and adult in his prime, and what did he have to show for it? Moderate hunting skills, but its not like the pride needed that. The only reason he was anything here was because he was the old kind and queen's grandson. And even that didn't mean much... royal blood gave one no real special priveleges that no one else got...
With a heavy sigh, Ushu kneeded his claws into the ground, digging furrows into it.

Jedi shrank away from the Pride Land's border, never had she feared something so much than the lions that lay within the very line that Ushu would not dare cross. The black and white lioness' mother had drug her across many miles to come here and was still too chicken to face Miamba--the lioness that was supposedly her grandmother. What did she care?
Her slightly chubby form walked quietly along the border as she decided it would be best to just enter, step inside and face her fear. Not all of the lions in there had special powers...they couldn't could they? She let out a loud roar not too far away from Ushu, something like a battle cry to get her ready for the big step she was facing....going in alone.

The roar took the adult male completely by suprise, and he literally jumped, landing upright on his paws. Sweet Circle, what was that? He felt very foolish and cub-like to have something like that scare him... but it was probably because he'd been staring so hard into the rogue lands, a mixture of feelings rushing through him.
A frown crossed the tan male's face as he began to pad towards the source of the noise. One of the pride lions wouldn't have made a sound like that, unless something bad had happened, and if it wasn't a pride lion, it much have been a rogue. Ah, there was an idea... Ushu's expression lightened as he picked up his pace, trotting easily over the ground. A new lion to the pride would be something to take his mind off his troubles, which was just what he needed right now.
When he finally came within sight, Ushu paused and looked her over. Yes, it did seem to be a her, and rather pretty girl to be truthful. His happiness fell a little, then he shrugged. He couldn't avoid women forever, and his other pressing concern was far more important than saving face. "Hey!" He called out, trying to sound friendly. "What brings you here?"

She jumped started by his voice and turned towards the source of the sound. The aolescent had not thought anyone was nearby, unfortunatly or fortunatly she was wrong, someone was here and had porbably heared her roar.
"I uhh...you don't have any special powers do you? I mean if you could see the future you'd know why I was here?" she asked oddly and then felt very foolish indeed. How silly to start a conversation with such a thing! She started to inch her way closer to Usha smiling awkwardly, "I w-was searching for something, but I don't think it's here." she came up with the answe quickly and gave a curt little nod to confirm it.
Oh golly, what was the chubby lioness getting herself into? Jedi was used to following her sister's around and meeting friends through them, now she was meeting other lions by herself. What if he was unpleasant? He sounded nice enough. Foolish little Jedi!

The tan lion was taken aback by her answer to him, and confused. Speacial powers? See the future? What was she talking about? He certainly couldn't do any of that stuff... though he'd heard that a few of his cousins sometimes saw strange things...
"Um... no, I don't. At least, not that I know of, and I don't think I've ever seen the future..." He eyed the rather chubby female up and down. She was an oddity, that much was obvious. Still, he tried to be polite, putting a friendly smile on his handsome face. "What were you looking for? Maybe I've seen it, or I can help you look for it..."
The offer was sort of half-hearted. He didn't much feel like company right now, but good manners said he must make it despite how he felt. "Are you... traveling alone?" Oh, cheery thought... what if there was another male nearby, her mate who would take exception to this conversation? His ears lay back in confusion and disorientation, and he struggled to get back his normal calm, cheery nature.

"I'm sorry, I must seem like an utter fruit to you! I well, I met my cousin, or someone who said he was my cousin and he said he saw us coming in his dreams," she shivered at the thought, "I sort of assumed that all people of this land were like that, must seem silly." she blushed feeling the warmth flood into her face.
"I was looking for well, the someone who might be able to prove that lion wrong or right, do you know Wahabu? My family traveled here to meet other family, I'm alone for now, but there are six of us, a little band of lions."
She was confused by his sudden posture and his ears laying back, than generally meant fear, was she something to fear?

Ushu's ears perked again as he absorbed the information, running down his mental list of pridemembers for one named Wahabu.
"No... I'm afraid I don't know a lion by that name. But that doesn't mean anything. I don't know everyone in the pride, so there's a chance I just havn't met him yet. Six of you, eh? That's a lot for a little band of lions..." How odd... the longer he spoke to her, the odder she became to him.
"He dreamed of you? That's odd... I've heard stories of lions that had visions, but I've never met or seen one... or know anyone that has." He tilted his head curiously, mulling that thought over in his mind. What would it be like to be able to see the future? Would it be a good thing, or a bad thing?

"I'll find him eventually, now whether I want to our not, that's another story," it was fine that he found her odd, she was quite odd; going from one stage in her life to the next she had changed quite a bit, her thoughts did not always entirely seem her own.
"We're small, compared to a pride," she paused and added, "Yes, seeing things I never thought that possible, I think it would be awefully frightening, don't you? I'm, well I'm not very smart and I was so afraid all Pridelanders were overly intelligent."

Ushu tilted his head at her odd statement. If she wanted to or not? She didn't know if she wanted to, or what? His brow creased in a frown, then he rolled his shoulders as he shrugged it off. It just kind of blended into all the other oddness of her.
"Yeah, I suppose that is small, but prides have been started with less, I think. As for seeing the future... it might be frightening, but wouldn't it be useful too?" His head tilted as his eyes stared up at the sky in thought. "Knowing when you prey will run, and where to. When the next storm is coming, or who you'll be mated to..." That thought nearly made him blush. That was something he'd dearly wished to know, but he squashed the feeling. Time enough for that later... it wasn't like he'd suddenly have a vision about her, he wasn't a seer as far as he knew.
The last comment stopped his thoughts short, and he couldn't help a laugh at her words. "Overly Intelligent? No more so than any other lions, I'm afraid." He chuckled, his red eyes bright when he looked her over. "And between you and me, I think you are quite smart, actually. I mean... what would give you the idea that you're not?"

"My sisters are smart, very smart, and sometimes I feel like I do not belong, they are my family, and my best friends..but it feels t time that I am alone in my thoughts," she acknowledged his last comment first, she needed a moment to think about the future. She had only seen it as frightening, a sign of over intelligence, after all when Kiji, her father, had told her that they were coming to Siku's land Jedi was terrified.
The adolescent female was not dumb, she had a different way of thinking than the others, she was more concerned about meals and ways to get out of working and doing chores than she was concerned about where the water came from out of a waterfall.
"I suppose, seeing the future would keep me safe, and I would have more time to do things that interested me," she nodded in agreement to seeing the future could be useful, but she would also see it as dangerous being able to tell when an attacker would come would make you overly cautious.

Ushu shrugged, giving a little flick of his tail.
"I guess I understand that feeling. My brother, he's felt like that, he told me... but probably for different reasons. He's dark, and takes after my father's side of the family. He wants to go visit them, maybe thinking he can find his place with them." He shrugged again, a little smile moving over his face. He also shrugged off the rest of it, since it wasn't really important.
"So, um... are you coming in then? I could... take you to meet my aunt. She's the queen, and she's really nice, I bet you'd like her." His smile was genuine, if a little shy. After all, she was a pretty lioness, and here he was, suddenly feeling a little awkward.

"Finding a place is always a good thing to do, I look like my family, my entire family or so I'm told that anyways," she gave him the same meek smile back as he asked her if she'd like to meet his aunt, no that wouldn't do she was told to stay out of the lands even fi she wanted to go in desperately and get this entire thing over with.
"No, I probably shouldn't, I probably should find my sisters as well, and my mother and father...but I would love to meet her another time, once we're officially allowed in, maybe you could show me?" Little did little Jedi know that they would be leaving much sooner than she thought and she would not see the lands entirely for many months from this day. She assumed she would be going in to see her grandmother any day now, not months.

Relief flooded Ushu as he heard that. Silly, he knew that, but he couldn't help it. Girls were so strange to him, so different from what he knew and understood.
"Oh, well... I guess you should. And yeah, I can actually, if you come around here again. It... would be my pleasure." He smiled as he sat back on his haunches, nodding his head. "I can show you a lot of places inside the pridelands and think you would enjoy seeing them. There is a lot to see and explore, though I suppose its nothing like the rogue lands out there.
His thoughts turned again to his contimplation, but it didn't last long, not with the black and white female right there, still looking at him.
"Um... when do you think you'll be back? Should I wait here, or come back later? I don't want you to get lost."

"Puh-probably a few days, I'll come find you, okay?" a wide smile sprad across her maw, unfortunately Jedi will probably never see Ushu again, "It was a pleasure meeting you, and the rogue lands are not bad, I have family, and with this wonderful pride so near by I don't have anything to worry about."
She stepped forward quickly nudged her shoulder against his and skittered away from him, "I'll..see you around." she didn't notice she had stepped into the pride lands without even realizing, one toe in and that was the only toe she would have until adulthood. She started back towards her family, towards THE family.

Ushukuru nodded emphatically, a broad smile on his face. "Sure! I'll be around, I always am. Shouldn't be too hard to find." He chuckled. Poor boy would probably wander the border for a week or two before finally giving in and admiting she wasn't coming back, but little did he know it now.
"It was... It was great meeting you too, Jedi." He said as she came towards him, blinking in surprise when she bumped affectionately against him. If he could have blushed, he would have, but all he could do was grin a little foolishly. "I guess I'll have to keep a more open mind about rogues, if even half of them are as nice as you. Good luck and safe travels, ok?" He called as she turned to leave, still smiling brightly.
When she was out of sight, he rose with a sigh and turned to head back to priderock, his mind on a black and white lioness, rather than on the path his paws took.
