((I really didn't know where to put this Tooaya because it takes place near the dorms. If you have a problem with it being here, feel free to move it to somewhere it's better suited.))

There came days such as these when the world was at peace. When birds sang their merry tune and flowers looked up towards the sun for it's shining face. These were the times Professor Veilwood most enjoyed, for it seemed, if only for these moments, that everything could be okay. Even himself. Even one such as him.

And upon this day, this delightful summer day, he was wandering the grounds in search of something more fulfilling than paperwork and lab equipment. There was only so much to be done and only so long he could do it. Students were one thing; helping them was his pride and joy. He enjoyed watching them grow like flowers in spring and much like that beauty they seemed eternal. He was always stern so that they might find what they needed but not so cruel that he didn't know how to help them if they asked.

Of course, since everything was self-taught, it made his job as Head of the Science Division all that much easier. Upon this day he learned of some new students, who he was rather keen on meeting. One of them, he'd learned, was actually a science student to be. Not to mention, there was a rumor going around with the teachers that they were a bit 'different' so to speak.

This is what brought the intelligent young man to the area of new student dormitories. In those halls walked the newest students. In those halls walked fresh minds to be molded and taught the way of the things. They were to be taught how the world worked -or lacked of work thereof-. It was too interesting to pass up. However, just as he was about to stroll closer to the grounds, he saw a particular sight... a brown haired student was walking away from the dormitories looking rather irritated and his emerald eyes were sparkling with confusion.

Professor Veilwood recognized him as he got closer as a one Nathaniel Jacobson, one of the more prideful students. Pure human curiosity drove him to step in front of Nathaniel and part of that curiosity was driven by the question if he'd met the new students yet.

"Mr. Jacobson, is something the matter? Having a problem with research... or perhaps another student?" He smiled his gentle smile, the one he was known for. Behind his eyes though, was that hidden sadness that he was also known for.

Nathaniel was clearly taken aback by the appearance of the professor and quickly tried to assemble a mask of polite nobility and all-knowing. "No Professor Veilwood, I was simply trying to think over a recipe in my head though something kept not adding up." He made an attempt to look embarrassed, but it was obvious he was new to emotions like that.

It was an obvious change from the British boy the Professor had met in the first few days but he didn't bother to point it out. "I see. Have you met the new students yet?" Might as well get to the point eh? He'd only just realized Nathaniel was holding a book and looked eager to getting to write in it. A journal perhaps?

"No not yet sir. Do you know what they look like? I haven't had a chance to meet many of the students... I was rather preoccupied with my studies." He hoped desperately that Professor Ardanay Veilwood would not ask him why the sudden change of heart. For it was obvious that Nathaniel was no longer the stuck-up silent brat he'd used to be. There was a change, just as the teacher had supposed and it was quite a big one. Making your first friend after years of loss and isolation could do that to someone.

"I've been told they're rather unique," he said standing up a little straighter. He was still a teacher after all. "Go ahead and get along with your studies now."

"And she said to the child 'hold out thine finger to me, for mine eyes are weak', and instead he held out a bone to decieve her."

He walked along the pathway with book in hand, spread open to a certain page that had been dog-eared so many times that the edge had creases above and below it's other creases. So engrossed into the pages that he'd read so many times was he that he didn't care to look ahead on the path he was taking, nor did he care to slow his pace down from a brisk walk to one of more leisure.

"The witch felt the bone with displeasure, saying to the boy 'Why hast thee no weight? Hast thou been eating?' to which the boy only replied with response of 'yes'."

He continued in his reading as he turned a corner that was only visable and taken due to the fact his eyes glanced down at the pathways and noted the sudden turn in the stones, and as he took a few more strides forward he heard a voice. Well to be more exact there were two voices that held different amounts of wisdom and age in them, one that seemed to have the weight of the world's knowledge about his brain and the other with the desire to consume all he could.

Slowly, carefully, he slowed his walk until he was stopped and only two or three feet away from the pair. He peeked his eyes over the spine of the well-read, well-worn book and took in the view with a smile hidden behind faded pages. People.

A pair of vivid azure eyes danced through the hall though neither focused on a single thing having traveled enough through them to completely pass objects without a question of what it was. His step was light, carried with a bit of a dance to it as he went and past his lips a soft humming was heard. The logical explanation for his fluid behavior was quickly deciphered by the sight of two headphones protruding from either ear and was looped down into a hidden machine that resided within his pocket. The faint lyrics of Depeche Mode would be heard echoing faintly in the hall but the boy had no concept of how loud it was from the outside.

Turning a corner he expected to find the hall empty but his isolated state of mind came crashing into reality as soon as those large eyes landed on the three that stood just a short distance away, one of which he did not recognize, though he hadn’t met the other two formally before either. Pausing he took in the sight for a moment and quickly reached down to turn off the ipod in order to perhaps meet these people respectfully and once he was completed he stood erect and sauntered toward the bunch.

He was silent at first, usually shy and quiet around those he was not familiar with, but he knew that he couldn’t keep them without word for so long.
“Good day,” he said, grinning gently.

Nathaniel was about to politely reply to Ardanay before two more characters sauntered into the picture. One of them he recognized straight off as the boy who'd seem to come from somewhere very cold, as he'd arrived in clothing fit for the snow. The other was a new boy, with a book in his hand and he looked rather well suited for the school. More so then most he'd met in the beginning and his attention was caught mainly by the fact that he'd never seen the other before.

Adjusting the book in his hands a little, he felt a nervous flutter inside. He was okay with people. That is... he was used to being around them but now... now it seemed he would be caught in the conflict many people called a conversation. He paled very slightly, but knew he could make polite small talk. Although he was very fragile right now, he knew he couldn't hide himself away anymore. Jaden had made sure of that.

Unconsciously he stood up as straight as he could, though he'd been straight to begin with. He did a mental check of his posture and then put a greeting upon his face. He looked like he'd never been taught expressions and in a way, these were the first expressions he'd made under his mask in many years. Struggling for not more than a few seconds he offered a welcoming smile to Micajah and an outstretched hand. His father had taught manners well. "You must be one of the new students Professor Veilwood was just asking about. My name is Nathaniel Jacobson." He was friendlier than he'd ever been, however there was a guard. He'd be nice, but he wouldn't make friends and he wouldn't give up his dreams on revenge.

The mentioned teacher was a bit distracted, for he'd heard Elijah coming down the hallway before he'd really seen the boy. His eyes were caught in that direction and then he nodded as the other joined the little group gathering that seemed to be forming. This student wasn't one of his was he? Would he be? Ardanay was rather sure he was a magic student but wasn't positive, since he was required to learn about students all the same.

After a moment, the other's name came to him, "Good day, Mr. Delaiah." He was not on first name terms with the students, instead he respected them as he presumed they should be respected. There was an air to the way he said it though, as if he was showing that he was still their superior despite how he titled them. It was always curious how teachers did that. Did they add sarcasm? Or was it just a teacher thing?

No matter, for no sooner then he'd greeted Elijah he noticed that Nathaniel was greeting a student that looked familiar. A name was on the tip of his tongue but perhaps too fresh and new to be completely commit to memory yet, especially not without formal introduction. Ah. The new student Nathaniel suggested? That would explain things quite a bit. He eyed the conversation, giving Nathaniel a chance to greet the other first, while smiling at all three of the boys.

Teachers are simply amazing when it comes to watching more than one person at once and smiling innocently all the while.

"With one fell push in went the witch, who's screams quickly filled the air as her flesh caught fire in the very oven she had prepared for the girl child. 'Alas, Hansel!' she cried, 'We are free!'."

His eyes strayed over the tip of his book once more and down at the hand extended towards him, all the while the smile on his face getting wider and a bit more twisted at its edges. Someone was greeting him, someone was filled with the desire to learn about and from him, and the thoughts of this filled the boy's head with pleasure.

"My name...is Micajah Ackart. It's a pleasure."

He lowered the book and folded it over, causing the index finger of his right hand to become a temporary and slightly painful bookmark, and as he moved that hand back he extended his left out to shake Nathaniel's. The palm of the hand of the other boy felt soft yet sweaty, and Micajah's eyes narrowed and his lips parted into more of an amused grin than a pleasured smile. He released the hand and turned towards the teacher and the other boy with effortless ease, his manners still perfect in their upkeep.

"It's also a pleasure to meet you, Professor...? And you, Mr. Delaiah was it? You've got a beautiful last name to be certain."

Micajah was smooth with his words and actions, showing no sign that he was perhaps nervous to be surrounded by three unknown people in a location that was still all so new as well. It was almsot as if he was a pro at what he was doing, even if that something was as simple as a meet and greet.

"Good day too you as well Professor, and to you Nathaniel," he chirped as he was addressed and grinned to the pair brilliantly. His relaxed stance though a little more strained then usual with the presence of others around him told of his friendly attitude to the three as along with his expression. Today, however, instead of wearing the red 'Santa' suit he was well known for he was clad in a simple white t-shirt and blue jeans with only a pair of sandals accompanying them.

Shifting his baby blue eyes to the new student he smiled brightly almost blushing at the compliment, having not heard that one before. "Thank you, and it's a pleasure to meet you Micajah. You can call me Elijah," he glanced at Nathaniel to imply he was allowed to do the same, not at all accustomed to formalities except authority figures such as Professor Veilwood.

Suddenly his eyes fell to the book that Mica had in hand and instantly his interest locked on it. "What were you reading?" he questioned lightly.

"Professor Veilwood," provided the man, watching the conversation with a sense of interest. Letting the students interact was perfectly find for him, he didn't mind simply watching, so long as they didn't start something awkward. Plus, he was very interested in the new student's behavior. He seemed like a fun and happy kid who loved books. Fairy tales to be precise.

If Ardanay remembered correctly, the student was aiming for magic and that was all the better. To the professor, those as light hearted as fairy tale lovers could not be serious enough to truly delve into the depths of a scientific project. It was better for them to simply dispatch with that hope and move on to more mystical things.

He took note of all their behavior in turn. The only among them science that he was quite positive of being 'little' Nathaniel who was looking quite lost and puzzled. Or perhaps was he trying in vain to mask it all? It brought a silent smile of recognition to the professor's face. Long ago he remembered being such a way. It was no good to hide it, unless you stuffed it into the very depths of your soul. Masks were no good for the eyes never lied. No matter. The students all cracked with their personal problems eventually and it was never his business... he wasn't good in that department anyway.

Nathaniel was indeed overwhelmed to say the least. Lost and puzzled were not even enough. He had trouble figuring out if he should be happy or polite or any of the above. He decided he was sick of this little game with his features and just tucked it all away. In a moment he had turned into the epitome of the noble polite British child he'd been raised to be. His face was kindly interested in the other's and their topic, but distant enough so that he was not a personal intrusion.

He was calm, quiet. Serious -if one was to look behind his eyes that is-. The sparkling emerald gems that were his eyes watched the conversation trying to make sense of it. He was not good at this, why did he even bother? What was the point in trying? He didn't want friends. He just wanted them all gone... however... he knew that was impossible. Other people's opinions mattered and he was forcing himself to realize he was not the only one in the world who wanted to get things done.

Of course, he'd never tell them his plans. Never let them in. Never share. But he could talk. He could be nice. He owed the rest of them that much at least... providing they worked as hard as he, which, since they were there, he presumed they did.

His hand fell to the side as he nodded smiling slightly at Micajah. He'd never seen someone so happy to meet him, it threw him off slightly and then he turned to look at Elijah and nodded, acknowledging that he understood the gesture on names. His own book was hiding slightly behind his back, he didn't want to share it's contents. Better let them talk about Aja's instead. "Is it a fairy tale perhaps?"

It was strange. You'd never peg the likes of him to know such of that, however, his mother enjoyed them very much. When he was very small, she'd read him one that sounded a tad like what Micajah walked by reading and he couldn't help but let his curiosity rise to the surface as the topic was brought up. Of course... after his mother had died... he'd thrown away all her books. Any memories of her were destroyed for they did nothing but hurt him and pain was a distraction from his conquest.
PostPosted: Tue Aug 07, 2007 8:37 pm

"Oh, you're wondering about my book? Yes, it is a book of faerie tales...but I'm not reading it for the reasons you think I am."

Micajah's answer was flat and cryptic, and he tilted his head slightly and smiled at the trio of people before him. Of course he'd been polite in his tone, careful to make sure that he hadn't used any of his words in any manner that could be taken as uninterested or perhaps even cocky. That wasn't his manner at all considering the youth was a very friendly, very friendly.

"I'm kidding, sorry. To be honest I'm reading this book again because there was something I wanted to check up on for a friend of mine. We had an arguement a while ago over the true names of the children in the story of the candy-house witch, and I'm afraid she won't talk to me until I can prove she was wrong."

He pulled his finger out of the book and closed it swiftly, letting a small cloud of dust escape from the pages at the sudden motion. The dust entered the young boy's face and caused him to sneeze slightly, his free hand quickly darting up to cover his nose and mouth to prevent anything from showering the others. Manners, always manners.

"Ah, excuse me. Hope I didn't sneeze on anyone, I'd be mortified."

Though 'Lij' wasn't sure what Micajah had implied when he mentioned it wasn't for the reasons they thought, the idea quickly was replaced by an answer and one he understood fully. Research seemed to be a repetitive answer from students these days and that was to be expected because of their occupation.

The dust flared through the air in a brilliant display as the light from the near windows reflected from the particles allowing them to be fully seen. Elijah was lucky enough to have not inhaled any of the particles but slightly flinched as Mica sneezed though quickly pulled out of his fidgety motion and only smiled.

"Nah, I'm alright," he said shaking his head before glancing at Nathaniel to see how he faired and even the Professor as well.

He wanted to know more about this intriguing new student as well as Nathaniel whom he didn't know much about previously and it seemed now would be a good time for a friendly session of Q and A.

"So...where did you both live before coming here?" he asked, searching for a topic to start with, though as soon as it came from his lips he wondered why he had chosen that of all things to say. 'Oh well, at least it may get more started.'
PostPosted: Thu Aug 09, 2007 6:40 pm

There was still another student to be found and so it was with a happy reluctance that the Professor walked briskly away to search out the other. Introductions were important these days. He'd really lost touch with the students as of late. Work should not take over the fact that they did indeed run a school, and that this school did indeed have students. And some of these students were indeed under his charge. He under the slight presumption as well that the other student would most certainly be under his regime.

Nathaniel was quite honestly surprised by Micajah. He'd never known someone quite like the new student. He was puzzling, interesting and all around kind. His manners were so good that Nathaniel thought he even matched with himself. It was competition surely, but the other seemed to nice for that. He wasn't full of himself per say, but he had high regards it seemed.

He was listening politely, nodding here and there but not quite understanding it since he'd never had friends to truly argue with and he never felt the need to prove things to others. He had just grown up told he was better and knowing it too. The things he did were enough to prove that, though in this school he never gave much notice to the other students until he'd opened up to Jaden. Ever since then he'd been a bit self-concious and was slightly mortified by his own behavior.

When the other sneezed he was unphased and waved the dust from his face effortlessly. "I'm from England," he said softly, answering Elijah's questions after he had listened to Aja's little 'story'.

Relieved that no one had been sneezed upon after the little dust incident, Micajah smiled softly and lowered his gaze to the ground. Although he was here with people, talking to them and loving every minute of it, he found it actually...hard. Doing things in practice and doing things in reality were far more different than he had imagined, but...

"Oh."

His head snapped up as the Professor suddenly departed and with another smile and a polite wave towards the leaving man's back he gave his thanks and parting all in one motion, not really caring if the man witnessed the action or not. Manners were manners, seen or unseen, and Micajah was raised to have perfect manners regardless of the time and situation.

Though here he actually was, neglecting his manners because he hadn't heard Elijah's question when it was first asked, so with a tinge of pink on his cheeks for not paying attention he shifted his focus from the now out of sight professor to the pair standing in front and beside him. Micajah was greatful that Nate had heard, so he could follow that lead without much trouble.

"Where did I live before coming here? I...lived with my father, and we traveled to various places. I was always taught to believe that your 'home' was the location of the bed that you were sleeping in that night so no matter where you were, you were home."

How much information was enough, and how much was too little? He didn't want to make it seem like he wouldn't tell them anything about himself and remain a total engima, but he didn't want to be too chattery and appear to have no secrets about himself. Maybe, just maybe, he could tell them a little more.

"Though for my heritage...I do believe I could be from the Netherlands, or at least my last name could be. Though since it's Saxon, I could be from parts of Great Britian as well. How about you, Elijah?"

He tried his best to include both people in his speaking, giving a chance to both of them continue this conversation further and deeper. Not that he wanted to go any deeper, of course, because he didn't want to lie to them. Lying never taught anyone anything, and he knew that fairly well....
PostPosted: Sun Aug 19, 2007 11:47 am

Micajah no doubt was intriguing, but so was Nathaniel. Each had there personal traits that made them unique, interesting and prompted further investigation from the blue eyed youth.

But he had to accomplish one last thing before continuing with the pair. He watched as the Professor departed and waved farewell before returning his eyes. Of course he had heard Nathaniel's response and smiled at it, finding that quite fascinating. Ever since he was young he had wanted to travel and England was one of those places one his list to visit.

"That's cool, I've always wanted to travel to England," he commented in a sweet tone with a smile to compliment it.
Mica's answer was quite interesting as well. He had never met anyone before who traveled often nor had that point of view so naturally he was captivated by the idea. "Traveling has always been one of those things I've longed to do. It must be interesting to see many places and have a lot of different experiences."

And then his question was directed at himself and he blinked, not exactly used to ever having his questions returned, though he appreciated it.
"I'm from the U.S.A.," he chirped and thought it an interesting idea to include heritage as well as Mica had done, "But I think my name is Hebrew."

Nathaniel listened to the words of the other's, observing quietly and shook his head unconsciously when talk was brought up of traveling. For him, it was an uncomfortable topic and to keep from letting those emotions in his voice, he didn't put much towards it save for a single sentence or so: "I can't understand a desire to travel." His eyes were sharp, obviously having experience something unpleasant with that topic.

He was polite though, trying to understand why people found such interest in learning about people. Of course, Jaden knew Nathaniel well... but that was beneficial. What benefit was there in telling life facts to a stranger? Was it simply for the hope they would talk with you? Be... friends? Nat saw no desire for that either. One person to protect along with himself was more than enough, selfish thought that seemed. Bringing himself back into reality, he offered a sheepish smile, as if trying to make up for his sharp comment, "Hebrew?" He'd never heard of that and was curious. Learning was always his thing.
PostPosted: Mon Aug 20, 2007 7:56 pm

"I don't think I really traveled by choice. I suppose was more of a thing that I was a piece of baggage that came along on the journies. Not that it was unpleasant by any means, but I can understand the desire to stay in one place for most of one's life."

Micajah did his best to try and sound sympathetic towards Nathienal's desire for not traveling and to sound interested in Elijah's desire for it. He was quite pleased with himself and with the pair around him at how they all seemed to be eagerly listening, eagerly devoring information on one another. They were learning, and so was he, so it delighted him again. He almost had to mentally slap himself to prevent a large smile from breaking across his cheeks.

"Ah, if I do recall 'Elijah' is Hebrew. It means 'my god...' plus something. Sorry, I was never very good at name meanings. To be honest, I don't even know the meaning of mine, though I think it could be Old Victorian."

He crossed his arms gently and moved into a more relaxed pose, allowing his book to rest in the cradle of his arms instead iof being pinched in his grip like it had. This conversation seemed to be making way to continue for a good bit, so he felt it best to get into a more comfortable pose...that didn't involve him sitting or laying down.

"How about your name, Nathaniel?"

The blue hued boy noticed Nathaniel's attitude toward the idea and instantly he knew he would back away from the subject not wanting to offend the boy he had just met. Besides, he had always believed everyone was entitled to their own opinion and this was simply Nathaniel's and he had ever right to express it.

And quickly they switched to a new and equally interesting topic of name meanings. He had wondered what Micajah had meant but the name origin was hard to decifer. Perhaps later they could look it up and find out what it was each of their names truly meant. Plus, Elijah was impressed by how much Mica already knew.
"Hebrew is well, relatively Jewish,'' he answered, hoping to make that a bit clearer to Nathaniel, "And you were really close, Mica, its meaning is 'my god is Yahweh.'" Perking up slightly he wondered what both of their names meant, if they new and was interesting in hearing from them. His face all the while was lit with amusement and mild joy.
