I know I shouldn't be, but I am. And it's not really for a good reason either. I mean, yeah they're too heavy, but I also know that they have a generally good sound. I know they are good guitars. But heres my issue. I find them to be the most overused guitars ever. Almost like a poser tool. Even moreso than the Stratocaster. So, it's not really hating on the Les Paul itself, but more like the image of it. You know, all those Guns N' Roses fans seeing Slash use a Les Paul, therfore it's the greatest thing ever built by the hands of man. I should know better as a musician. So now I need to get rid of that. Help me?

I don't see why it's such a big problem. I don't like either Fenders or Gibbys. I'm more of an Ibanez/Jackson guy, prefer Jackson.

I only love Les Pauls because of Jimmy Page xDDD And their sound is pretty... when you know how to play it correctly.

The Les Paul models make really ugly basses.

I really don't give a s**t if a certain guitar is used extensively by alot of people. If it's a good insturment, why should I give a damn? When it comes down to it, your skill should be what sets you apart from others, not your preference of insturment. Then again, I almost exclusively use Flying V's, and they aren't exactly universally used. rofl

I usually don't care as long as it's a good solid instrument with a sweet sound. Lawl. The exception is Ibanez. I'm prejudiced against anything Ibanez.

What do you have against Ibanez exactly? Just asking. I'm more of a bassist than a guitarist, and I've played several of their basses and absolutely hated them. The sound was even worse than my crappy Fender Squire (I would get a new bass of better quality but I've got a double bass to save for). Not to mention some of the amps they've put out. An ex-friend of mine had an amp from them where it turned to such s**t less than a year of use that he had to stick a screw driver in the input jack to get it working. I found their stuff to just be cheaply made crap. I'm not as bad about Fender or Gibson on this, because I've played some excellent guitars and basses from them as well as some bad ones. Never have I played an Ibanez that is to my satisfactory.

You can be prejudice against any instrument you choose to. No one is going to knock you down a peg for voicing an opinion.

Who cares if its over rated, its the players preference. If you like one brand, then stick with that brand. I love the Strat and Les Paul. but that is just me!

Aside from the JS series, every Jackson I've played is a hit. The entire package with their axes is just great, they seem to have great design as everything is superbly balanced, weight AND tonewise as well.
