It was a chore keeping an eye on Telikos and now this little Usida who'd decided she needed to stick to their sides. Something about learning from them and something else and it was nonsense. There wasn't anything they could really teach the little mare that she didn't already know.
It was like having a child only there hadn't been any of the silly physical things involved. At the moment the little mare and Telikos were off doing something and she'd been left to wander around a little apple grove. The trees were bare of fruit but the flowers and leaves were almost as sweet.
The other two would return eventually, whether alone or seperate, and hopefully she could have gotten enough alone time to be half way pleasant. If one of them came back alone it would be far better. Having the two of them around always seemed to make her snippy somehow.

He returned alone, entrusting Chalcedony with the ''important task' of 'guarding' a small pond that they'd come across until he could return with the Dark Lady. He knew that he could 'entrust' her to take care of that and, in the meantime, he could have a conversation with Alysida without the petite mare. He had not had a moment with her without Chalcedony since her arrival and there had been many questions he hadn't asked.
He gave his head a light toss, watching her momentarily from a distance before snapping a twig beneath his hoof to alert her of his presence. He knew that she hated being caught offguard and, for once, he was choosing not to frustrate or anger her from the start. As much as they were rivals, they were also comrades; old friends that had trained to protect their strange 'herd' alongside one another.

Her ears swivled toward the sound before her head turned. She'd been enjoying a small patch of clover and was going to have a fit if it was the two of them.
Seeing only the white stallion she almost sighed thankfully. "Leaving the little one to stand guard over something?" That could be the only reason that Chalcedony wasn't with him. She seemed almost glued to his legs.

"Aye... There is a rather remarkable pond not far from here. I insisted that she guard it least it disappear before I could escort you to it." He nodded slowly, a slight smirk curving his lips. "Energetic little thing, isn't she? Just imagine the terror she'd be upon the world if her legs were as long as yours."

"Ah .. disappearing pond." It would be an interesting moment when the little mare started to realize half the things that Telikos had her guard didn't need guarding.
"She is. Were her legs as long as mine i'd have turned tail the moment i met her." It was fine since she was small and it was easy to get her to do things to keep her occupied.

"Afriad of competition then, Dark Lady?" His brow lofted as he turned his head towards her. "I think she is a fine little mare... I am certain that the world could use a few more like her." If only because of how easily she could be talked into things... Even if they weren't the things that one often talked mares into. It was hard to find a good pond guardian these days.
"Of course, I did not turn without our plucky little friend so that I could speak about her."

"More like her so that there would be more that you could talk into doing whatever you wished them to?" She eyed him with a grin on her face. She hadn't wandered around wit him this long and not learned how to do a few things.
"Then what did you return without her for?" she flicked a twig out of her tail and took a few steps toward him.

He snorted softly, giving his head a light toss. "You think so little of me and my actions, Dark Lady. One of these days I will be fatally wounded by that sharp tongue of yours and then what will you do?" He eyed her as he asked his question before changing the subject to answer hers. "So that I could speak with you without little ears listening... I am certain that there are things you would have said to me at various points in time had you not been guarding your words."

"I will have to take a few points off my respect for you for not knowing what my intentions were with the words that wounded you." She walked over and nudged his shoulder with her head before walking around his other side.
"There have been. Though i doubt i remember most now that the time and place have passed"

His brow lofted slightly as he turned his head towards her. "... Hold on. What was that you just said? You had an amount of respect for me?" He couldn't help but smirk. "This will be a day to remember... You admitted to having respect and you've forgotten things."

She sighed and shook her head. "One wonders why i even try to be civil with you." All he ever did was poke fun at her when she tried to say things like that.
"That is beside the point. You had something you wanted to discuss so do so." Preferably before her patience ran out and she stormed off somewhere alone again. It wouldn't do any good wanting to know what he had to say but being too stubborn to come back to find out.

"You put forth the same effort at being civil with me as I put forth to treating you like something other than a silly mare trying to be a stallion." He snorted softly, almost teasingly as he gave his head a light toss. His words, at times harsh, always carried a bit more respect for her than he had for any other mare if only because she was different than them.
Thank the Great Spirits she was different than Lady Luck.
"There are four of us here now. You know as well as I do that I came to guard Lady, as I certainly did not come for her company... And the wild one was already here when we arrived. Now you. Is there something I should be aware of that I was not told of before?"

"Tapanga has made her way here also?" That was surprising. She had only met the wild little mare a few times but she would not have thought she would have moved. She seemed far too comfortable back where they used to call home.
She frowned slightly. That meant her guess had been correct. The drought had taken it's tole harder than she'd imagined. "The drought ..." He and Lady had left before it got too horrible so he would not know that the grasses had almost completely died.
"I would guess that I will not be the last to make my way here. Others will follow as things get worse"

"Aye, she has. She seemed almost lost when I happened around her; overjoyed to see a familiar face. Odd little thing." He snorted once more as he shook his head. "Keeps Lady out of my mane though and I won't complain about that." If only by getting herself tangled in the highbred mare's lengthy curls.
His brow furrowed with thought. He had paid little attention to his surroundings back in the lands he'd come from, spending too much time guarding the herd and watching the borders of the land. "We will have to do something about that now, won't we. It is, afterall, our responsibility to guard them, is it not?"

"At least she hasn't annoyed some monstrosity and gotten herself eaten." Tapanga could probably keep Lady company far better than Telikos could. She'd have to speak to the other two mares eventually and see what they thought of the issues back home.
"We will find them as they come here should they migrate. There are some whom you know would rather stay there even if it means their death." She would not force them from their home. They were all smart enough to know the risks and know when to leave should they desire.
