I hate the first day of school. I really, truelly do. You go to each class and have to go through the same 'here's your sylabus. fill out this form. get your parents to sign it. Here's your schedual.' There's mass confusion and hysteria, there's a line of about fifty kids and their parents trying to get registered into the the school last second. The admin changed our scheduals. It used to be that you would go to 1st erpiod, after 1st eporiod we'd have annoucements and homeroom. Then off to 2nd. This year homeoom is a different teacher entirely, and the set up is similair to a study hall. Today we had to go to homeroom first, so a lot of upperclassmen went to the wrong class. Then they moved a few homerooms around so we would go to the classroom, only to find that it had verbally been moved. Starting tomorrow we go to 1st period then homeroom. I guareentee there will be people who won't know this and be late. It used to be we had seven minutes to get to class (except for when we went back to class after lunch. We had and still have 3 minutes for that) After 4 minutes a warning bell would sound, telling us to move our bums to get to class because we had 3 minutes before we'd be late and get a detention. Now we have 5 minutes and no warning bell. I haul butt so it doesn't effect me any, but apperantly I'm the only one because there was an up-roar about it. My schedual is majorly messed up. I don't have a third period, I don't have ROTC (I'm unit Supply Officer. If this doesn't get changed, my guys are screwed). Mind I'm not worried about it becuase I know that will get changed, eventually. I do not have a 3rd period class. And instead of having AP Environmental Science, I have Honors German 3. I will fail HG3. I know almost no German, though I have taken it for 2 yrs. I specifically said 'I don't want this class. I will fail.' That I'm immensly worried about ebcause my honors Physics teacher mentioned he wasn't sure if AP E.S. was being given. So I'll have to look into that as well. And I can't just drop HG3 because Honors Physics is only given in 6th period. >_<
However, my main issue has nothing to do with me. It has to do with my brother and mother. (my mom's a teacher, bro just started 6th grade) it's bad. I won't go into details because I don't feel I should, but still it's bad.
EDIT: Best part of the day was when the guys got hounded to tuck in their shirts and pull their pants up to their waists. We've had a major problem with guys sagging the pants so the dress code for the entire county was raised. The guys kept moaning and groaning about it but I had to use immense self-control in roder to not start parade in celebration. Finally! A year will go by where I won't be mooned repeatedly by some moron who wants to show off his underwear to the world!

There is a chemical in your brain College is so much better. We are assumed to know what we should and shouldn't do since we're adults. Teachers don't throw a hissy fit about how you look, which somehow magically decreases the amount of people who do irritating clothing styles. You can just leave class if it runs late. Oh, and if you don't like a class...you just sign up for a different one! Genius! But highschool= scream Once I graduated, my mother asked if it had been worth it. I mostly stared, but then I told her the obvious, NO. It was a big waste of time for me because most of the things in class I already knew, and I had to correct a lot of teachers since they were all just coaches who didn't know anything. I think we had, maybe two teachers in the whole school, who I was certain had brains. It's pouring sunshine and rain

I'm cursed when it comes to science teachers. I usually get morons to teach me >_< My english & history teachers are usualy brilliant. My 9th grade Geography & English teacher excluded. lol, with ROTC, only retired military can instruct us. So they know what they're talking about. I love that class, because as much hell as it puts me thorugh, I get so much stronger. (Not just phyisically mind) I can't wait to go to college. I want to go to conservative schools. Private. I like the structure they offer and think that that sturcutre will help me better. My number one school is a Catholic University. First one I've found that has the major I want. Second is one in Florida and another is a millitary college a few hours from home. *drool* I love that college...

I think school is alright but sometimes it's frustrating because I'm not a real morning person and like everyone else I like to get my sleep, usually the teachers expect so much out of you. I just hate riding the school bus, has anyone ever hated when they play music on the bus they absolutely don't like but have to deal with it.

Rely to Jamiem16
I commute to school. In the afternoons I take a bus from my high school to the middle school my mom works at. (our schools share buses since the students there eventually come to my school) Every now-and-then I have to take a different bus than I'm used to and sometimes they'll play hip-hop and/or rap on the radio. My ears weep and bleed when this happens. rofl I am not a morning person in any way. There's no such thing as a 'good' morning until 11:59:59 am in my opinion. I get to school at around 7:30 in the morning and almost immmidately have to go work in the ROTC supply room. At least one friend every morning will go 'SAkyh! What's wrong? You okay?' And I respond 'I'm not a morning person.' in a voice that's a mix of a growl and a grunt. This is often follwed by some variation of 'Hey $^%^#! Get away from my @#%$&* shirts! Stand in front of the $%^#*% counter you $$&^$#!' because some moron has decided to try and pull a fast one over my eyes. (As supply officer I have to issue, return, and exchange uniforms from cadets. As well as about 20 other things I won't bother to list.) I love supply, but idiots just put me into a foul mood.

I know what you mean by the sagging pants. It's everywhere in Macon, Georgia. School doesn't start for me until Aug 14. I can't wait really. We are forced to do homework over the summer and I have finished mine. I am going to the 11th this year, that means I only have two years until collage! Im a little nervous abou tthat because I plan to be a vet and I have heard it is really hard to get into vet school

Thanks for sharing that about your life, I guess everyone at some point has stuff to deal with or just isn't a morning person.

I go back to school on the 4th. Really sucks, because I've always hated the very first day back. Though after about the first week there I don't care anymore about it. C: Glad this will be my last year back to that place! <3

I start the 3rd. And you know what? I am actually looking forward to school this year. Why? Because finally (we get our schedules sent home before school starts, and our books too), I only have classes that I like. Hallelujah! The school system isn't that ******** up after all!
I've got Dutch, English, French and German, which I all love since I love languages. I've got three artsy things, history, maths (the easy one because I hate maths, and I'm not a star at them either. I am more of an art/history/languages person, but maths are required to graduate at my school), chemistry, PE, social studies, geography and religious studies (we're studying Buddhism and Hinduism this year, which makes me giddy and looking forward to this class, which I normally don't).
Soooo, yeah. However, I hate the first day. There's a lot of new kids not knowing where to go, bumping into you with their gigantic backpacks because they have yet to figure out what lockers are. There are teachers who want everyone in the class to introduce themselves while I just want them to start teaching me new stuff. There's... Gah. Let the first week pass, and I'll be happy.

mystifyingbliss' schedual is proof that american school systems are not fantastic. @ mystify: Are the school systems set up in Holland as they are in Germany?

When I think about a new school semester, I say "Whole new set of sounds, smells, and people". I'm not as enthusiastic as those attend a school for companions and "playing with the teachers", while it may be entertaining to those individuals-or rather the majority of the students at the last public school I attended, it only show's their impudence and lack of respect for those of higher authority; teachers and other staff. How often is it that it’s test day (select of topic for an example), and you’ve studied all week for the event, then when you receive your score sheet and blank paper and with your pencil to the sheet set to work. You’re near ten minutes in, you’ve worked hard, checking that each circle has been filled in neatly and there are no marks a-stray, when you reach question number (___) you hear… “RIIING!” All your dedication becomes pointless as you loose your train of thought, and so instead of ending up with an A+ as some of us are required to obtain, you receive- “C” says the teacher. How often does this occur in your school?
I'm hoping things at the school I'm soon to go to aren't that way, but most-likely there will numerous distractions. Last year I was set up to take high school online, has anyone else taken a class online before?
