Okay. So this is something that's been confusing me lately.

I keep seeing kids my age calling themselves "scene" kids. Usually, these kids dress like emo kids, listen to emo music, and generally act like emo kids. So I figured it was just the new thing emo kids were calling themselves.

Anywho, one of my friends told me that they weren't the same thing. So I turned to the one stop shop for answers (teh interwebz) and found this:
http://www.wikihow.com/Be-a-Scene-Kid

Basically, it's a guide on how to be a stuck up, conceited little twit. It has tips like, "Use old slang like 'rad' 'stellar' 'braw (bruh)' or 'dank,'" "Be a vegetarian or vegan," and my personal favorite, "Think that you are absolutely, without a doubt, the most gorgeous person on the face of the planet."

So I thought this was all very amusing. I figured that some stuck up a*****e somewhere wanted to be emo and decided to do it in such a way that they would still be the center of attention, and thus came up with "scene."

But to my surprise, I found out that, supposedly, punk rock is associated with these "scene kids."

Now this confuses me, mainly because everything I know about punk tells me that this "scene" stuff is bullshit.

I mean, punk advocates an independence from corporate and government dependency. Libertarianism with a bit of a socialist streak. A do-it-yourself attitude. Call it what you want.

Someone who truly believes in the "punk" lifestyle certainly wouldn't want people to be vegans or vegetarians "just to fit in." They wouldn't want kids to dress a certain way or act a certain way just to be a cool "scene" kid. So I end up confused.

Can anyone tell me just what the hell "scene" is?
Is this really what kids are into now days?
Does scene have anything to do with punk?
What the hell is the deal with subcultures changing their names to be different?

I think scene is another word for stuckupclosetedassholethathateseveryonethatfitsinexceptforpeoplethatfitinwiththem.

It's a word, look it up.

Scene kids are the following

Stupid moronic wimps that believe they're a step up from emo kids but really they wanted to be emo kids but the real emo kids kicked them out so they had to create their own name. Like emo kids, they are fashionably retarded and think they are cool because they can wear their little sister's jeans and make-up. They only act like assholes because they're trying to make up for the fact that the emo kids kicked them out of their group.

I see it a lot at my sister's high school. Luckily, I didn't have a bunch of this going while in high school and the college I go to I guess doesn't attract those groups.

I do remember this one freshmen in one of my classes, (I was a lazy senior and decided to take German 1 since I was already in that building for senior French and English), she dressed that poorly. A friend and I told her that if given the chance, we would set her clothes and hair on fire. <.<;; Luckily, the Principal didn't suspend us for that one. :'D It was in the morning and I guess he had his coffee.

So, from the sounds of it, these scene kids don't seem to be very well-liked. xD

Yeah, there's a huge difference between a punk and a scenester. They may not look the same, at times look the same, may listen to the same music, but their attitudes are mostly different.

Punk is an attitude and lifestyle and a genre of music.
Scenesters are fashionable spoiled brats who just take that and pretend the things associated with the punk music/attitude are theirs. They are poseurs, nothing more, nothing less.
But now it's kinda morphed and they're also stealing the hip-hop attitude and using that too with all the talk s**t get hit crap.

Thank god. It was confusing me.

@spidrmanny: I'm not either. Then again, punk isn't a fad at this point.

Scene/Emo it's all the same to me. I'll still insult them for looking like that and having retarded attitudes.
