 Before June 10th, 2007 - I was still a High School Senior.
Even before that, I was a Junior in High School. And so on, until my Freshman year.
And each year, there was always at least a week or a whole month of where the teachers/staff would gather up the students in the gym and talk about being nice to each other/racism. And then at lunch, they'd make us pick numbers to sit at certain tables so we can sit with new people and "make friends".
I was so tired of it by my Senior year, I said ******** it and sat at a table with all my friends I normally sit with at lunch.
I think the school was worrying too much about a problem that wasn't a problem in our school rather then teaching us the important stuff we need to know for real life. And then they are upset or don't understand why we have little time to get work done and learn s**t near the end of the school year.
Honestly, there were two black kids at my school and maybe three Asians. And they were accepted and friends with just about half of the school. There was never any racism ever at school as much as a I saw/heard. And our school was very small so if something happened, everyone heard about it.
Was my High School the only school who acts like this?

we never did that. honestly, there are just about as many black kids as asian kids, and as many asian kids as white kids.
the only thing i can think of that relates to that is my stupid AP reading schedule; ever since getting into AP english classes, ALL WE READ IS LITERATURE BY AFRICAN AMERICANS. Come on, people. There are other things to read. I signed up for a classic lit course to read shakespeare and homer and mary shelly; not to get African American culture shoved down my throat. I understand that they're trying to be politically correct, but i wish they wouldn't go overboard like that. it's messing up my education >_<;

Ugh....we have a "Cardinal Connection Day" every 2 months.... "You get to meet and talk with your upper and lower classman about stuff you like. And also meet people who have same interests!" I HATED IT! My friends and I just pretended we either didn't know each other or found some people we kinda knew and sat down with them.

Being a militart child I move around a lot, but frm what I've seen that' snever really a problem. Like when I lived in Cville Virginia, the population was mostly white and at my highschool there weren't really alot of people of different races. Everyone was cool with each other, there weren't a lot of racial fights but sometimes you could see the different groups. I my self hung out with everyody because well, I'm a social butterfly, I fit in everywhere, well at least I would like to think so. When i moved back to Fayettville NC the majority in my highschool of people are black. But even still here people get a long well but there are still didfferent groups. i don't have a particular race that I hang out with, mostly the band geeks or the anime lovers.

My school also gived speach like that and I don't think it was less userfull than math or stuff like that. Racist is something that exist, so why not talk about it? Most of the things we learn in school is useless and boring anyway.
Giving numbers for your sit is stupid to me doh but the society only want to control us so it's nothing surprising

I think we actually might need that at our school eek
Mexicans talk a bunch of crap to people not their race in spanish, African Americans talk a bunch of smack to everyone, and white people think they're black and wear their 'colors', which ends up in a huge fight.
I don't think that program you talk about would help us one bit D: I think what is ruining my education is the people I'm surrounded by. I don't mean to offend anyone who reads this xD
But seriously. my mom said that if she had the money, my but would either be in a private school, or homeschooled. But she dosen't have the schedule for homeschooling or the money for public school D:
I hate my school Dx

My school had an a whole lot of rednecks and black people.
Race fights?
Believe it or not, almost never. It seems like there's a stereotype that Southern people are racist. I rarely saw anybody that fit that mold when I was in high school.
I digress.
My answer is yes. Though my school didn't have a lot of overly-PC stuff going on, we did have an occasional seminar, which tend to amass during February. Probably Black History Month, which usually doesn't bother me at all.

My high school actually did have trouble with racism. Which is interesting, because it's in one of the most liberal areas of the state. Then again, I have my doubts about the events that were shown to be racist. The one thing that I'll leave the blame on racism was when people grafittied racial slurs on the administration building. There were various other events that were supposedly racially-instigated, but I have my doubts about those.
Still, racism is a problem. Why shouldn't schools try to n** it? I think they should be more rigorous about it in elementary school rather than high school. Elementary curiculum is a lot less important than high school, and little kids have less set opinions than teenagers. They're more likely to think of it as a game rather than a hassle, too.
But, hey. No one ever said the people who run schools are smart.

Hey, i fill what ya guys are coming from but do you know my opion why the schools in the United States are less educational? I belive it was that damn High School Graduation Test. I mean if you add all the things you guys just said, plus the graduation package ( let me remind you, what ever that was writtin in that package 40 to 60 percent wasn't even on that test, so how can we study for something when we are not properly prepared? to me it's funny, sad and ironic...) equals slow U.S. kids , not saying were actualy slow but the fact other countries eduaction is so high, yet compared to others were like at the very bottom here.

I have noticed my school(s) are tending to divide their attention or completely focus on really nonexistent issues. A waste of time that could be put into improving how I think it's been said that my state is ranked amongst lowest quality..
