Haine Otomiya
(乙宮灰音, Otomiya Haine?)
The main character of the story, Haine was actually born to the Kamiya family. In 4th grade she was sold by her real father and/or adopted by the Otomiyas. She is not exactly the smartest person in the world, but has a good heart. Back in her 9th grade she was a former " Yanki" or young delinquent but after she met Shizumasa (her first love) Haine changed her ways so she could go to the same school as him and meet him again. Once she finds out Takanari is posing as Shizusama, she has to wrestle her feelings for the both of them. She stated that when the time comes, she will choose one of them. As of Chapter 34, it is a known that Haine is the daughter of Itsuki (her father in the Otomiya family) and Maika (mother in the Kamiya family). Out of pain of this discovery, she becomes a delinquent again at the end of Chapter 35.
Shizumasa Tōgū
(東宮閑雅, Tōgū Shizumasa?)
The (real) Emperor. He is revered by mostly everyone at Imperial Academy, and it certainly helps that his family is very rich and famous. Shizumasa developed a love for Haine. He is pretty cruel but he is a real gentleman to Haine, because of his love for her. Due to his illness, however, his twin brother, Takanari, is currently posing as him. A slight difference between Takanari and Shizumasa is that Shizumasa's hair is more visibly lighter than his older twin brother.
Takanari Tōgū
(東宮高成, Tōgū Takanari?)
Shizumasa's older twin brother. Because of health problems, he is posing as Shizumasa as [Fake] Koutei, though no one knows this except Tōya (but later in the series Haine becomes aware of his "real" identity). In the beginning of the story, he is cold and distant but once influenced by Haine, he becomes more kind and soft. He, at first, hated Haine and thought she was annoying but then he grew to love Haine and wants her to become his. Takanari is the real author of the picture book "Shizumasa" drew. He hates his brother, who also turns out to be unpleasant. A slight difference between Takanari and Shizumasa is that Takanari's hair is more visibly darker than his younger twin brother.He is also sometimes shown with earings.
Usio Amamiya
(天宮潮, Amamiya Usio?)
Haine's best friend, who is very protective of her. She seems to regard Haine as being more than just a friend, although Haine herself doesn't realize it. She is known as "Lady Hydrangea" (紫陽花の君) by the boys at school. Unfortunately, she absolutely despises boys but was indulging herself with them to get Haine's attention. She dislikes social climbers, especially students in the higher ranks. She is also very knowledgable of Japanese quotes and proverbs. Later in the manga, she says she loves Senri.
Maora Ichinomiya
(一ノ宮真央羅, Ichinomiya Maora?)
The treasurer of the Student Council and mailman of the school. Maora is really a male and is childhood friends with Maguri. His parents are fashion designers. He has a pet, a "mini-sheep" named Okori-makuri, who is the mascot for the series. Maora is also Mailman-san. When he was discovered he told Haine he loved her and challenged Shizumasa(Takanari) for the Koutei title, just so he could make Haine his lover. He failed, because Haine made him realize that he loved Maguri not her.
Maguri Tsujimiya
(辻宮真栗, Tsujimiya Maguri?)
Maguri is gay, and is friends with the Fake Shizumasa. At first he was in love with Shizumasa (Takanari) but later falls in love with Maora. His family are yakuza members, but even then he has a soft side.
Senri Narumiya
(成宮千里, Narumiya Senri?)
The school doctor, who loves cute high school girls. Apparently, he is a master of the martial arts as he was able to make Haine faint when she came to visit Shizumasa. He is a butler to the Tōgūs and is especially interested in Usio.
Kusame Otomiya
(乙宮草芽, Otomiya Kusame?)
He is Haine's step brother. Secretly, he fell in love with her at first sight when Haine was introduced, and refuses to call her "Nee-chan" for that reason. Kusame is a silver, honor student and vice president of Imperial Academy Junior section's Student Council. He became president by earning ponts, not with money.
Komaki Kamiya
(香宮小牧, Kamiya Komaki?)
Komaki is Haine's blood related little sister from the Kamiya family. She posed as Takanari Tōgū's fiance to protect Haine from being sent back to their father. Though proper and lady-like, she tends to have her moments of outburst. She harbors a love for Kusame and she loves her sister, Haine, whom she refers to as "Nee-sama".
Tachibana Kamiya
(香宮橘, Kamiya Tachibana?)
Tachibana is Haine's blood related little brother. Upon seeing Haine, he mistakes her as their mother because they are alike in appearance. He is rude to her until he finds out Haine is his older sister. Later, he is very kind to Haine and has that "little boy" nature around her. Kusame was jealous of him because he spent much time and clung on to Haine. He is the soon to be "head" of the Kamiya family as the only male heir.
