The delectable club opened early this Saturday. Doors flew open at 5pm, early enough that the sun was still messin' around in the sky. The club, named 'Sphinx,' was throwing a bit of a special event - a new band was playing, and in a very rare occurrence children were allowed to attend. Only until midnight, given, but it was better than nothing. Alcohol sales were being strictly monitored and children were not allowed into the deeper part of the bar - but otherwise, they were given free reign!
It was wonderful, Harper thought! He would be able to see his family's full blown debut on the stage; even though they had, of course, played many times before. It was mutual between his family, they were all somewhat tingly inside that they were not only getting to play again but also show off for their newfound son.
Harper sat on a barstool in front of the stage; talking to an older waitress who was serving non alcoholics and had found she absolutely adored the boy. She was a pretty girl, later in her thirties, and had one of those irresistibly cheerful faces and demeanors that always lightened up peoples day.
"Sorry there's not much of a kid turn out kiddo, we only did the kid thin' today 'cause your mum insisted. She's got quite a voice on her, that one, and with a little frame like that!" The waitress exclaimed, nodding at the stage.
It was something strange, that Ashley (who was certainly not the most petite creature, but fairly small none the less) had such a strong, deep, loud and belting diva voice. She could probably sing some opera chords in the voice she was using now, even. The strong and strangely feminine tone fit well with the rock like music the band was playing now - Soloman entirely in his head banging element, Sunny hiding closer to the drum set and entirely engorged with his guitar playing, and Eliot using every trick he could to flash-out the restrictive motions of a bass player. Anyone who knew Ashley off the stage wouldn't believe it was her; she was smiling, 'charismatic,' full of life and looked like she was having fun. Whaaaat an act.

Mikael and Runeh were big clubbers. But then again, they were usually found doing anything that involved women and alcohol. It was just their way. However, they had to tone it down a bit lately whenever Victor pushed Riley on them. While they could usually bring her into bars as long as they didn't get her anything, clubs were more strict about it. But Runeh had his sources and he had found out about 'Sphinx'. And they happened to be landed with the squirt that night so well...it was obvious what their course of action was.
The minute they were in the door Mikael had bolted to a group of single ladies milling about, leaving Runeh and Riley at the door. Runeh only grinned in his knowing way and ruffled Riley's hair. "Well, kiddo, if you need us we're here. Have some fun, mm?" he smiled innocently and drifted off after his brother to do hell knows what. Runeh was a little on the odd side.
Riley sighed, looking a little irratated but not surprised. Her brothers left her all the time. Glancing over at the stage she smiled again, though, because the music was good. Hey...weren't those people familiar? Ohhh! She snorted, recognizing them as those crazy people that were always with Harper...Perking up with a sudden idea she darted across the room, silver eyes searching for the boy. Maybe he was here?

It was the waitress who first spotted Riley, as she was already searching for other kids for Harper to play with. "Yoo hoo!" She called out to Riley, giving her a smile and large wave with her free arm; the other carrying her drink platter.
"Ah! See! I knew some other basta- err, person would bring their kid in! There you go hunny, someone to play with. Here," she handed him an extra soda, "take this o'er to her, s'always a good way to approach a young lady! Have fun, hunny!" She sang as she hurried off to go back to work.
By then Harper had obviously caught sight of Riley, and was now armed with two drinks. "Hey! .. Uhhh.. Riley!" Yeah, that was her name. "S'me, Harper!" He declared, hopping off his barstool and hurrying over to her.

Riley blinked, looking over at the strange waving lady. What? But she quickly forgot about the odd grown-up when Harper appeared. There! She had been right. He was here! She grinned widely giving a wave before dashing out to meet him part-way. "Hey! Thought you'd be here, Harper, cause I saw your...um..." she paused. She had no idea what those strange people were to him, "...people." Quickly ignoring the fact that that comment might of been rude she continued with rougish cheer, "They're pretty good too!"

"My mother," Harper corrected, looking back at his mother who was now looking at the two of them quite strangely despite being in the middle of a performance, "my uncle," he said, nodding at Sunny, "and my two.. uh.. friends!"
He went to give her the other soda at that point, "That was Susie, she told me to give this to you. She rocks! She's gonna bring me some free fries in a little, if you want some!" Harper exclaimed enthusiastically. "And hey, if they ask, tell them they did a lot better than just 'pretty good.' They'll freak if they think they aren't the best ever!"

Riley took the soda without really thinking about it, her gaze focused momentarily on the band. "Well, I can't say they're the best ever...I'd have to listen to an awfully lot of music to know who was that good," she said, her odd sense of honesty showing through. Well, it was obviously hard to get her to give compliments she didn't mean. "But they're still really cool," she said with a thoughtful twitch of her ears before taking a sip of the soda. Mmm, sugar and caffine.
"Free food?" Riley said, her eyes immediately going back to Harper. She grinned, looking as if that was a perfectly good reason to do anything. "Dang this place is great!" Yep, she was easily sold.

"You can't just, I dunno, lie and tell them that anyway? It'll make them happy.." Harper said with a slight shrug, while walking toward where he was sitting before. "C'mon!" He beckoned.
He was sitting remarkably close to the band so if Riley had sensitive ears at all it probably wouldn't be a good deal; Harper, however, loved loud nosies and the loud clang of bass, drums and guitar didn't bother him in the slightest. "So why you here Riley? I'm glad you are, I was getting kinda bored..Susie's kinda old.."

"Ahh, come on, if they're good they should know it. And they are so why do they gotta have people tell 'em?" Riley asked, obviously not understanding the concept much, being someone who was always so self-assured in the first place. She followed after him though, jumping up on a stool rather recklessly, considering if she fell she'd probably bump her busted arm. "Ahh, I'm here 'cause Mikael and Runeh dragged me with 'em. They went to see some girls agian," she explained, obviously not finding the experience odd.

"Sounds like Eliot." Harper thought out loud, grinning. "Momma don't let him bring girls to the house anymore, not since I got bigger... It's better that way, Eliot's home more and he's a lot of fun to play with. We play video games and stuff." Harper said with a shrug. "So who are Mikael and Runeh? Your parents?" He asked.
The song currently being played ended, and in the breif few seconds before the next song Ashley took a few steps forward and knelt down, moving the microphone away from her. "Harper! That's the girl from the house!" She scolded.
"Yeah..?" Harper began, blinking innocently.
"If you start dressing like her I'm disowning you!" She stood up again and walked back to her place as the next song started, and Harper gave Riley a very 'what's that about?' look.
Meanwhile, Suzie was on her way over with delicious smelling french fries!

"Nah, they're my brothers...I don't have parents," Riley said, shaking her head. When she was littler she hadn't understood the concept of a parent, since she had none, but later she had learned what it was supposed to be through other kids and TV. Ah yes, TV could explain anything.
At Ashley's comment Riley pulled a finger under her eye and pulled down to show the underside of the lid while she stuck out her tongue meaningfully at the older woman. Then she dropped it all and shrugged, not even knowing what the conversation had been about. She just knew that lady was always yelling at her about something. She paused for a moment, eyes shifting to the side slightly, "Mm....I think I smell fries!"

"But you came from a cabbage like me, right? How can you have brothers and not parents?" He asked nosily, interrupted soon by a platter of fries being set on the table between the two kids. It had ketchup, ranch, some tangy orange sauce and something similar to thousand island dressing to choose from - quite gourmet, Harper thought!
"Here you go kiddos, on the house!" Susie beamed, patting the two kids on the shoulder. "Keep rockin' and I'll bring you some milkshakes later, alright?" She grinned again and left, leaving Harper to look at the fries as though they were magnificent.
He gave Riley a glance, "So uhm.." He grinned menacingly but otherwisefroze, staring her down. Then suddenly! He lurched his hands to the fries and started dipping them left and right and snarfing' them down at a frightening speed!

"Yeah but...I don't have parents. I've just got Victor, Kai, Liam, Mikael, and Runeh," she shrugged, obviously not finding it odd. Who needed parents when you had what she did? She honestly didn't think she was missing out. When the plate was set down beside them she eyed it eagerly, feeling her stomach growl noisily. Looking back at Harper she caught him staring her down. Impulsively she felt the heat of a coming competition and when he dove into the food she was ready.
She lunged forward and began to stuff food in her mouth just as quickly as he. She didn't seem to care if all the different sauces and dips ended up splattered across the counter from the hurried movements. No, this eating contest was just getting started!

It didn't take long for Harper to discover he didn't like the ranch sauce at all. The other three were wonderful, but the white stuff didnt' agree with him. So now he was being slowed down by the fries splattered with white, having to pick away at a few while shoving them into his increasingly dirty, fry fragment infested mouth.
He accidently grabbed a white one, and right before he was about to eat it he caught himself and threw it at Riley's head with a snort, "Eat the white ones!" He demanded.
Eliot missed a note he was trying so hard not to laugh in the middle of a bass solo. Sunny was just shaking his head, and Ashley looked pissed.

"What? Ranch too much for you?" Riley grinned, tossing a white fry at his face in return. She then lundged back at the plate and began to eat all the non-white ones she could see. Not that if she grabbed a white one she didn't eat it. Because she seemed to have the ability to stomach anything. At least when it came to what was put out in front of her.

"It's gross!" Harper protested with a frown, the fry hitting him flat on the nose and leaving a white splatter across it. "Egh! I'm gonna be smelling it for weeks, now!"
..or you know, he could just take a bath.
Catching on to what she was doing, Harper decided he needed to take immediate action to salvage all the non white fries possible. He cleared a space beside the platter and began frantically moving all the fries off the plate and into his 'personal' cache; all the while trying to eat a few here and there as well.
