Slow paws reached out in the early afternoon, dragging claws across the stone path that led to the colossus that was Pride Rock. His pale form was a bit out of place, more so because of the fact that his family had left months prior. And yet there he was, moving towards the dens of the rulers in hope to change his past. Before he lived by his mother, now he lived by his own.
Finally, he stalled right before the steps, his eyes turning silently to his partner as they always did. The amber depths held question as he moved close to brush his shoulder against hers, a sign of his support and also an effort to take some from her. Just having Kilango by his side, Kikore felt bravery fill every fiber of his soul. He was ready.

Kilango had only been the Pride Rock as a young cub, as so faintly remembered how it looked, or where anything was. So, she simply trusted Kikore while he lead. The scents seemed familiar, though. She did remember those. They smelt of many, many lions. As Kikore looked back to view her, she blushed and looked away herself. It had only been a week or so since they left the Sea Pride, and they were already getting rather attached. Smiling, she nodded and then started padding forward, towards the steps to the higher part of Pride Rock. Even now the thrill was getting to her. She also was ready to see the rulers!
"Come on Kikore, i'll race you to the top!" Playfully she tagged him and ran ahead, trying to turn the serious moment into a bit of fun.

Seeing her look away, he felt a warm smile cross his maw, following her steps ahead and to the stair-like path. However, as soon as she tagged him he blinked and eyed how she ran, before lowering his head and smirking.
"As if you stand a chance!" He called out, before pushing up and to the steps to try and catch her tail at least, nipping at it whenever it came close. It was hard as he scaled the landscape, but while he knew he wouldn't win, he figured he'd at least join in on the fun.

"Of course I stand a chance!" She raced up to the top, as she recalled her last encounter with the rulers. There was Mufasa ... and Sarabi? She wondered how they were doing. If their children grew up and how things are going around the lands. Kilango looked back down at Kikore, who was quickly catching speed. Afraid of losing, she sped up. She spotted the top of the steps! Grinning, she darted faster than ever before.

Hearing her words and response to his challenge made his pace only quicken, until they finally reached the top and she was about two paces ahead. Jumping over to land on the ledge, he skidded a bit and slid, catching himself by pushing his weight onto his forepaws. It looked easier than done, and when he stood still he was panting slightly before trying to see the victor.
Eyes landing upon the blue pelted female, his pant turned into a grin as he stalked over slowly towards her, "No Kilango...I think you cheated, getting a head start and all..." Stopping only a step away now, he raised a brow and took advantage of his height, looming over her with the same playful grin.

Kilango slanted her eyes and then looked towards the dens. "Oh please, you would've won anyways." She stuck out her tounge at him, and then sat down beside the large green male. She too, panting loudly. Short of breath, she literally put all her weight onto Kikore, making him hold her up. She grinned back at him in return. "Mind holding me up a little ... ? I need to catch my breath. I haven't ran that fast in ages. Or well, up something that fast. At least I beat you!"
She yawned and then stood back up, padding towards the den area. Maybe Mufasa was home? She hoped so.

Letting out a soft grunt at the sudden addition of weight, he chuckled a bit and looked down at her, "Thank you-"
Grinning, he rubbed his cheek against her head, his breath slowing down lightly before suddenly the weight was gone and he fell down to his side. Cheek now hard against rock, he let out a huff and glared at the retreating form of the female, before pushing up and slowly sauntering after her, ego a bit deflated.
Hopefully, she hadn't seen nor would hold it against him, there were better things to worry about, and he hated to be embarrassed.

Kilango peered around curiously, and then looked at the dens. Hearing or seeing nothing, she padded closer and called out the name of the lion she was searching for. "Mufasaa ...? Are you home? ... ..."
She raised a brow and folded her ears back.

-Ears swiveled gently at the sound of a presence, her body shivering in delayed reaction when finally the familar word reached recognition to the golden lioness.
How long had it been since she'd heard that name? Other then the occassional "bless him" or small whispered bit of praise and respect. And for a long moment Kami sat still, trying to convince herself she didn't need to go out and see who it was. She didn't need to kill him again.
But her father had been a good teacher, and the sway of responsibility finally lifted the king's young doppleganger, and slowly she made her way towards the enterance of the den, pausing still in the dark.- "Hello?"

Moving next to Kilango, Kikore narrowed his eyes as he tried to peer into the shadows, ear flickering once more upon catching the sound of the queen's words. Of course, he didn't reconize the voice, and slowly he frowned at the thought.
"He must not be here..." Kikore whispered softly, before taking another step and speaking up a bit, "Hello, we are here to meet with the King or Queen...we used to be members here a long time ago. My name is Kikore'ruia, and this is Kilango..." He trailed off, wondering if he should also add on his mother and father's name.

Kilango turned to looked at Kikore, a frown on her maw as well. He looked back towards the darkness seeing a figure. "... But, he does live here, right?" She whispered lightly back to the green male, slightly confused. She watched Kikore go forward and speak, so she joined him. "My father Kizamaji lives here, as well as my grandmother, Miamba."
She awaited to see who was hiding in the darkness, backing up behind Kikore.

-Looking for the queen, she should have guessed.. but the king? That one was new to her. Slipping from the cave she spoke as she let her eyes try and focus against the light and the silouettes before her. Obviously a male and female, but if they're parents lived here, it must have been something other then acceptance that brought them? -
"I'm the queen. What can I.."
-Kami's breath caught as a familar pelt came to her eyes quite easily spying Palesa's lineage within the male. And for a moment she was taken aback, as she had been so long ago when her mind had accused her mate of taking up with the beautiful green figure.
Coughing as she caught herself and how stupid she must have looked, she shook her head gently, before offering a sheepish smile.- "Is there something I can help you with?"

He looked at the female and suddenly it clicked that she was not Sarabi, and if she were king it must have meant a new generation was in rule. Taking a deep breath, he took a step closer and let out a meek smile, unsure of what to go about doing or how to word his response.
"Your highness, my mother and I left the lands when I was young, you may have known her, she went by the name of Palesa...we settled in the sea pridelands, but Kilango and I felt the need to come back..." Trailing off again, he glanced to the blue female beside him, "We've been gone for quite awhile..."

Kilango nodded slightly, "Yes, I left the lands with Kikore and Palesa, and since we decided to come back ... we wanted to ask for reacceptance. Though, I didn't realize that there was a new Queen. The last time I was here was when we were cubs." She smiled, looking towards Kikore. It was really nice to be back, but she was still confused with the whole ... new Queen thing. A lot of things must've happened since they'd last been in the lands, where they were born so long ago, it seemed.

-Perhaps it was a mistake, how quickly she tossed aside convention. But the truth was that the couple made her nervous.. the whole situation, the thoughts of her parents made her uncomfortable. And she wanted it to be over as quickly as it had begun.-
"Ahhh.. well welcome back home then. It is always nice to hear that the lands draw people back. It must say something good about the pridelands."
-That was enough wasn't it? She added softly, to try to make things seem a little less rude and abrupt.- "I'm sure you're both tired and excited to settle back in.."
