This guild, created by PoppyDadswell and Divash, is a home for all those who cover their head or hair, and also for those who dress modestly, for any reason -- religious, medical, physical comfort, personal preference/style/fashion, or any other reason you can come up with! Even if you're simply curious, feel free to stop in. http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/index.php?gmode=index&guild_id=4733

Oh, like banners? Not yet, but if you're an artist, by all means, we could use some.

Heh. Well, theoretically, any covering works, depending on your community. Some communities insist on a sheitel (wig), others on a hat or scarf or snood. Some insist on both. But these are all customs, not laws, so it's very open to individual interpretation.
Of course, there are two other Jewish principles that might come into play. One is the concept of kiddush Hashem or chillul Hashem -- the sanctification of the Name, or the profanation of the Name. To make yourself look silly could be construed as making all Jews look silly, and thus, making our G*D look silly.
The other is the concept of hidur mitzvah (the beautification of pious acts). When we do any mitzvah, we strive to do it in such a way as to make it not just done, but done with style. wink Lighting Shabbat candles by sticking them in empty soda cans is permitted, but it's considered better to put them in pretty candlesticks if you can afford pretty candlesticks. If you can only afford one set of clothes, then wear that set of clothes to synagogue and don't be ashamed -- but wash them before Shabbat! and if you can afford one set for everyday and one set for Shabbat, make the more attractive suit your Shabbat suit. Covering your hair with a dirty dish cloth is probably permissible, but wouldn't you rather cover with something pretty? Something that made people say, "Oh, that Yvette. She always looks so elegant, the way she wears those lovely scarves. I wonder if she'd teach me how to tie a scarf that way."
