It was late in the night, and Janja was having trouble sleeping, so she lay near her family and at her sisters' sides watching the stars. Several days earlier, she recalled how she had been feeling restless, much like now but in a different way. A meeting with a stranger was on her mind, for unlike her parents had been, she was not ignorant to the facts of life and new well what may come. A sickening feeling in her stomach told her she was either worrying too much about it, or she was right- or both.

She shifted uncomfortably, trying not to think about it and get some sleep but finding it extremely difficult. She should have known better than to get her into even a position to wonder such things!

Soft blue eyes glowed brightly in the moon light, white paws crossed and her hin resting on them Jedi stared off into the night. She was musing over their encounter with the yellow lion, Wahabu. Was he truely family? He sort of looked like them, and at first she found him interesting. But, she was not about to trust a stranger-- but he's family? Her thoughts whirled in this awkward circle over and over again, so much so that it was impossible for Jedi (who was by no means a thinker) to sleep.

She tossed her body backwards so she would be able to look up at the stars, and bumped into Janja's side, an inaudible sorry was muttered as she reajusted herself and took to staring off into the distance yet again. The night sky made her feel better, always did and that's why in the mornings it was not uncommon to see a white stomach protruding in the air. What was going to happen now? They return to Wahabu, or worse, they slip up and mother knows that they wee wandering? What does the world hold?

Janja was not startled by her sister's bumping into her, for it was not uncommon for those sleeping so close together to sometimes get knocked about a little as they slept- what surprised her was that Jedi mumbled an apology, sounding very much awake. She sighed, and glanced over to where Jedi lay- should she bother her sister? Something seemed to be bothering Jedi as much as something was bothering Janja..

"Jedi?" she whispered, "You awake too?"

"Yes, only because my stomach is growling," she answered quietly. It was hard to lie to Janja, but she didn't want her sister to know that she was very shook up by their current adventure, maybe after everything is smoothed out she'll explain.

Jedi turned her heard towards her sister and gave a dopey sleepy smile, "Well, something's on my mind, but it's nothing really. Just...thinking. Something on your mind too?"

"Yeah," Janja answered quietly, wondering what could be bothering Jedi. Maybe talking about it would help keep her mind off her own worries, and possibly could help Jed resolve whatever the concern was. However, here was not the place to talk- there were four sleeping lions around them that might not appreciate it!

"Want to walk with me?" she murmured quietly, carefully getting up to her feet and looking at Jedi.

Jedi gave a sharp nod and rolled over quickly to her feet, making it a point not to clobber Ekevu as she moved. When had she suddenly been a creature of curiousity? Possibly, when something truely interesting was happening in her life?

"Where would you like to walk to?" Jedi didn't know of anything around in this area, but when they were little that had not stopped them. She recalled finding a nasty leopardess and being brave with Janja, and going on adventures with Ekevu and Janja, what could they possibly find next? What was the next adventure?

"Just away," Janja said with a shrug, and led their way so they were outside of audible range- they would not wake up anyone else, though Janja suspected if they did, no one would look too much into why neither of them could sleep.

"What's bothering you, Jedi?" she asked curiously as they walked. She wasn't leading them anywhere in particular, but it was a rather nice night out and the Pridelands were beautiful. The sky was one of the major differences between the Jungle and the Pridelands- so much sky all at once was only found in certain areas of the Jungle.

'Away' was good enough, as she followed Janja a warm smile spread across her face. If it was not for Wahabu and the family's mess Jedi would have loved being in the Pridelands, she could watch so many things all at once. The Jungle felt confining, and she could not stand zig zagging her way through trees.

"Oh, it's silly," she stepped over a somewhat large rock and continued, "worried about mom and the family...and that yellow lion has me thinking about things. But, I didn't want you to think I was a scardy-cat for being a litte worried."

Janja was a little surprised to hear what exactly was bothering Jedi, she hadn't expected such things to be so worrisome- of course, she had no other idea of what could be bothering her sister. Perhaps it shouldn't have been so surprising.

"I don't think you're a scaredy-cat," she reassured her sister, "I'm worried what mom might say if we mentioned it to her, though. Did you get a chance to ask dad about it?" Janja hadn't gotten the chance herself, but wondered if Jedi had.
PostPosted: Mon Aug 06, 2007 1:38 pm

"No, I havn't been able to get dad alone long enough to ask a few questions. I think mom will go to her family soon, and we wont slip up infront of her, should we tell Eke?" she cringed thinking that Ekevu might be a little blunt or call her ideas stupid, or just about anything that might hurt her feelings.

"What is bothering you then, keeping you up late?" Maybe she's upset about all of this too! Maybe we're thinking the same way! Jedi thought almost oddly excited.

Janja frowned a bit when Jedi said she hadn't been able to get any answers out of their father, though she expected her sister had put in a good effort- and it was getting difficult to get anyone alone nowadays. Particularly mom or dad.

"That's too bad, maybe we should just wait it out," she suggested, glancing back in the direction they'd come from and coming to a stop, "I don't know, I think Ekevu would find it interesting. But we don't even know anything for sure."

She hesitated when asked what was keeping her up, and decided to sit down. Janja didn't even have the self-control in her worries not to look down and see if her middle poked out any more than usual. She hoped she was imagining things when it looked like it was getting bigger. It was a trick of the light- er, or lack of light- or perhaps her imagination was causing her worry.

"I- it's nothing," she said, looking back to Jedi, not wanting to admit to anything. Especially since there was still a small chance she was worried about nothing, a very small chance..

"Awww, come one, I told you what has been keeping me up, but if you're sure you do not want to tell," a small ball of anger welled in Jedi's throat. She had explained her silly worries and now her sister would not even give her the benefit of another silly worry.

Janja frowned deeply when she saw how hurt Jedi was that she wouldn't confide her in. It only made Janja feel a whole lot worse about the situation, but how would her sister react to it? There wasn't any way to hide it from them, they were bound to notice something sometime- and Jedi was here now, and while she might not force the truth out of Janja, she'd not feel good about it and would certainly be more watchful.

"J-jedi," she stammered, trying to find the words and now sounding very worried, "I think I made a terrible mistake.."

The dark colored lioness was taken aback at her sister's words, especially hearing the fear in her sister's voice. What could she possibly have done? Did she go the the grandmother? Did she meet the strange family that they were persuing? Jedi shivered in fear at the thought of Janja making a mistake, surely she was too smart to do such things?

"What did you do?" she sounded strangely in control of herself as she said this, "What has happened?"

Janja glanced around them, nervously making sure that no one else had noticed they wandered off and would hear here admit to it out loud. She looked back at Jedi, wondering what she was thinking.

"W-well- do I look any bigger to you?" she asked, anxiously hoping that she was imagining it all. Biting her lip, she stood up- the slight addition to her middle was most noticable when sitting, and perhaps she could have gotten away with not looking any bigger while standing, or maybe even in the dark.

Maybe Jedi would say no, maybe she would say yes- but with either answer, would Jedi catch on to why she was asking? Or would Jajna be forced to admit it aloud?
