 Adventuring a little ways off from Aylen for a while, Usiku was off to find lunch. His tummy had been growling since he awoke. He was in the mood for berries, but from the tall grasses and him being so short yet, he couldn't see if there were any berry bushes around.
Spotting a large stump, he decided that a little higher view wouldn't be such a bad idea. He hopped on top of it and searched his surroundings. As he did this, he saw a large cluster of bushes a few yards away. He jumped back down and trotted for that area, in hope of juicy berries. Once he reached his destination, he mowed down on his new found food in delight, plucking the berries off in mouthfuls.

 Eknath was close to a bunch of berry bushes... Or rather he was in them hiding. He didn't know why he was hiding, or what he was hiding from. Though, at the moment everything was scary. He didn't know how he had gotten there, or where he came from. His tiny little hooves shook as he heard someone close.. Hopefully they wouldn't see him.
His brown body was good for hiding, was it not? He could barely see, as he was only a few days old, but he could see something darkish... His whole body started to tremble as he tried to hide farther into the bushes. His tiny wings were as tight as possibly to his brown body.

Usiku kept munching away, but somehow felt a strange presence near by... like someone was watching him. As Usiku plucked off a few more berries, he crouched down so he felt more secure. But as he did this, he saw why he felt like he was being watched. A little baby malu was curled up, shaking in fear. It seemed to be a little boy. "Why, hello there." he smiled friendly. Usiku didn't exactly know what to do with a baby... "What's your name?" Hopefully asking him things wouldn't scare this little one even more.

Eknath didn't even know what to do. He was completely still as possible. Well, apart form his shaking. He felt his wings move on their own, but it really wasn't on their own, he just didn't remember if he moved them. The other's face was looking at him, and noise came out of his mouth, yet the little malu was too frightened to understand them.
He just whimpered and continued to shake. What was he to do, Well, if the other tried to touch him, he'd bit it! Yes.. That was a good plan. But what if the other was trying to eat him? He closed his eyes tight and tried to scoot back more.

Watching the malu shake more and scoot back farther, Usiku tried again. "I'm not going to hurt you. I want to help somehow..." he told the little one. And as he said that, he got an idea. Usiku plucked a couple berries off of the bush and layed them a few inches in front of the malu. "They are yummy..." he said, trying to convince him to eat something. He worried if this malu hadn't eaten anything for a while. Besides this, hopefully it could gain his trust a little more.
He eyed the young malus wings and remembered his own dream of flying someday, but was shot down by how this baby had wings. Usiku was a child and still hadn't grown wings... Would he ever? He wanted to fly just like Aylen does.

He opened his eyes finally to see if the other had left. Nope, though there was now some strange things in front of him. He looked to the other and looked at the berries and smelled them. Well, they seemed ok. What did he do with them? Are they food? He wanted to ask, but some how he just couldn't say anything as he opened his mouth.
Still slightly frightened, maybe that was the reason? He looked at the other questionably instead.

As the baby opened his eyes fully now, Usiku scooted the berries a little closer to him. Maybe I'll have to show him you eat them?, he wondered. So he once again took a cluster of berries off the bush. As he had the berries in his paw, he showed the little malu them and then tossed them in his mouth. "See?" he explained. Eating all of these berries left a reddish-purple circle around Usiku's mouth. "They are good for you. I heard they give you big horns." he told him, giggling a little. "I wonder how you got here... Where is your mommy? Do you have any brothers or sisters?" Even though this was probably way too many questions for a baby, Usiku was curious.

Ok, so this big thing wasn't all that bad. He seemed to eat these things in front of him. He sniffed them again and took a nibble off one. It tasted pretty good. He began to eat more and more until the berries were no longer in front of him. His dark brown fur stained with berry juice.
He shook his head as the other asked him questions. Still not able letting words come out of his mouth. How did the other make noise like that. He wanted to learn. He opened his mouth again, yet only a small squeak came out rather words.

Smiling, he was glad the younger malu ate the berries. "Do you want more?" he asked. Usiku was pretty sure that the baby wouldn't be able to reach them otherwise.
As the malu shook his head to Usiku's other questions, it made him more curious as to what happened. It seemed like this little guy tried talking but nothing came out. Usiku figured he was probably to young to start talking.

He shook his head at the other's question. If he ate more, he'd be too full to move. Deciding it was best to come out of hiding, and perhaps get a better look at this huge creature that was being so nice to him. Maybe it's his mother?
He slowly stood up moving kind of wobblly since he hadn't gotten use to the way they worked yet.. His body was a bit heavier then them too. He took two steps then fell down. Stood back up, and did the same thing again. Though, he was almost out of the bushes now. Just a few more steps, and he'd be free of his hidden home.

Usiku was glad to see him trying to walk. Attempting to help, he nudged the little one's chest as he stumbled, helping him back up again. The baby was almost out of the bushes now. He only wished that he could talk so he could at least tell him his name. "Can you say your name?" he asked, incouraging him to try again. His next option would be making up a nickname for him.

He shook his head. He didn't have a name, whatever it was. He looked at the other one as it tried to help him up. He wagged his stubby tail as he took a few more steps after the other helped him up. Though, he quickly fell to his face next to the other's hooves. He flapped his wings that couldn't work, or wouldn't work, he didn't know nor didn't care. He looked up at the other happily. He opened his mouth, but nothing but a small squeak came out again.

Seeing the little one fall to his hooves, he helped him up again. Then Usiku sat for a moment and thought, looking at the baby. He pondered about what name fit him and quickly decided on one. "I now pronounce you Eknath." he told him, taking a stick and tapping Eknath's shoulder. Seeing him smile, Usiku starting running around Eknath in circles, trying to make him laugh. He was too adorable. Usiku even jumped into the air, clicking his back hooves together to make a sound. Entertaining him pretty much made his day since it was fun to watch Eknath flap his little wings and try talking. The jealousy over his wings already started fading since Usiku started accepting he will probably never get wings. Plus Eknath didn't even know how to use his...

He didn't know what the other was saying... Eknath, what did that mean? Was that what the other was calling him? He wagged his tail and flapped his wings as he looked up at the other as much as he could. He made a few more type of happy squeaks. It wouldn't take long before he could make noises like the other could. He was going to be determined to do so at least. "Eeeek" He said trying to say the name the other one said.

Usiku stopped running around like a crazy malu once he noticed some squeaking coming from Eknath's mouth. "You almost said it buddy! Try again. Ek-nath." He told him, trying to help somewhat. It was always easier to learn new words by saying it in pieces. Usiku figured at this rate, the baby would be talking really soon. He also wasn't as shy and scared as he was at first.
