Golden rays of light slanted through the canopy of the trees and illuminated patches of the small grassy clearing in the forest. A black and white mare with turquoise markings lay beneath a large deciduous tree; just beyond the reach of the sun's rays upon the ground as it fell lower in the sky. The day had been rather hot, and the shade of the forest certainly helped. Arctica had wandered into the forest sometime early in the morning after descending the slopes of her mountainous dwelling; for once during the daytime. The mare had stumbled upon this particular clearing by mistake; yet was pleased that she had in fact. The calmness of the forest had relaxed the mare and she had chosen to stay there for the majority of the day. Releasing a sigh, the mare lifted her head and her gray eyes peered around; thinking whether or not she should return home or perhaps even stay here for a while longer; if not for the entire night. Arctica enjoyed exploring during the night; everything was so different when the sun was hidden.

It had been one of his favourite things to do since he was a foal - watching a sunset. Slowly trotting up towards the forested area, soaking in the end of day rays. They were always redder than normal, always burned the forest with shades that were only seen once a day.
It also was he only time of day when most families of Soquili were buried away in their homes, far away from here. This made him feel better about being so out and about. Althought he was unwilling to believe it; he knew that he was far to shy at times to talk to others. Maybe it was a curse; not being able to fully converse with othre soquili. He hadn't met another that kept interest in him longer than five minutes.. but then again... who'd listen to a bumbling fool?
It had been those few moments of deep thought that brought him into the same area as the other, and when he finally came to his senses, instinct took over, and a soft, squeeky sounds erupted from his startled throat.
He HONESTLY hadn't expected another soul out tonight.
