He was fuming, tail lashing with each purposeful step. Though perhaps his anger was not so strong as his fathers, Shin'Jougen had not been bound by the promise Juhudi had. No, he was free to track down that male lion and give him a piece of his mind as well as his claws.
He had known something was wrong when his mother demanded he watch his younger siblings for the night away from the den, but he could have never imagined something like this. How dare he, how dare this unknown male swoop in at night and steal his sister away! He would not stand for it, he would NOT!
With a low growl and a flick of his tail, Shin prowled toward the borders of the land, to where he knew the dark male would stand on his patrol. Well tonight he had better look out, Shin was on his way.

Unaware of the whirlwind that was headed his way, Bushido kept his silent vigil, keen senses taking in the surrounding lands. It seemed a quiet night, peaceful and calm, broken only by the chirp of insects and nesting birds.
The smile on his maw seemed to be a permanent fixture, his steps lighter than they had before before, a drastic change that had happened in the blink of an eye. He settled on his haunches, tail flicking peacefully, his thoughts again drifting back to the den and the lioness who waited for him there.

Orange eyes narrowed, ears turned back as he approached the creature he sought, finding that dark hide and golden trim. There he was, that no good, sneaking sister stealer! He was going to get his, and get it now.
"YOU!"
His voice was a roar as he charged the older lion, now standing before, facing him down with the snarl of a protective brother, a trait he must have inherited from his father.
"What do you think you're doing with my sister, you jerk?!"

He jumped, startled by the sudden outburst and the irate lion who now approached him, perhaps he had not been alert as he thought. There was barely a moment to take it in, to recognize a familiar black pelt and ghostly white markings, and before he could speak a word, the young lion was already on him, shouted words piercing his ears.
He opened his mouth to ask what this lion meant, but then closed it again as he realized this must have been Kani's brother. Bushido sighed, oh no, barely had he survived a her father, now he was facing an overprotective brother.
"Your sister is old enough to make her own choices, I haven't done anything we didn't agree to together."

His fur ruffled dangerously, a menacing snarl parting his maw. This male may have fooled his parents, but Shin wasn't buying it, he knew better.
"Don't give me that! I know what you did to her!"
His tail lashed angrily, snapping at an insect like a striking viper. How could he?! Kani was sweet and innocent, and though they had often fought since they were cubs, Shin'Jougen cared deeply for his sister, and he would not allow this stranger to harm her!

Bushido shook his head, his features now calm as the astonishment at the lion's sudden outburst faded. What did this lion want from him? For him to walk away and say he'd never see Kani again? Never, he would never do such a thing, not for her brother, not for her parents, not for anything. She was his moon, his soul mate, and he would never give up the happiness she had brought him, never.
"What is it you think you know? Do you really think your sister would act unless she wanted to? Is she really so undeserving of your trust?"

The young lion growled in his frustration. He had not been sure what he'd expected, but a calm rational response was not it. For a moment he simply stared, lost for words, tail falling still and silent.
"Don't change the subject, this isn't about me. This is about -you- and my sister, and about you hurting her without a second thought!"
His tail lashed again, his voice found, though it was softer than before, the fire fading though it still burned brightly.

He sighed quietly, relieved by the silence, perhaps thinking for a moment that the lion's fury had subsided, that he had realized and accepted his mistake. But it was not to be, and soon his ears were again pierced by angry words. Why did protective siblings always assume the worst?
"If that is what you think happened, then you are sorely mistaken. I love your sister, and I would sooner end my own life than harm her. We have made a choice together, and in that we are happy."
His words were honest, truer than any he had spoken before, as true as the "I love you" he had shared with Kani, as the many he would continue to share in their new life together. That was something Juhudi and Shin'Jougen would have to accept, whether they wanted to or not.

His maw fell open, whatever words he would have spoken next lost, fading as the falling sun that glistened of his white fur. Was it possible, had he misjudged this lion? Had his sister truly made her own choice?
"Well...you had better not hurt her, you hear me?! Or I will hunt you down and show you the meaning of the word hurt."
In a final huff, and a warning snarl, Shin'Jougen turned on his heels and stormed across the grass, not looking back at the lion who was rapidly fading into the distance. He snorted, of course he trusted his sister, there was no one more worthy of trust, it was this dark pelted lion that he did not trust, not at all. This wasn't over, he'd be watching.

Bushido sighed, settling onto his haunches again as he watched the retreating lion, dazed by this newest encounter. Silently he hoped that no other lions would storm him, demanding to know just what he thought he was doing with their daughter, sister, or other relation.
But as the smile crossed his maw again, he knew it wouldn't matter if they did. For his love was true, his heart complete, and he would have endured anything to spend his life with Sheshe'kani, the lioness who completed his soul.
