History: Takara's father was a demon while her mother was a human. Their families disowned them and even sent assasins to kill them. Takara's mother hid her in the forest before she and her husband were killed. Takara was raised by a she-wolf named Yumi who had lived for a long time and had gained some psychic powers. Years later, Yumi was killed by the assasins but Takara managed to escape. She didn't want to kill her pursuers so she continued to make her escapes. She roamed the land and sometimes helped out villages plagued by demons or whatnot before leaving. She never stayed in one place for long until she arrived at the Pagoda.

Powers (optional): The learned ability to read others' souls/spirits. This allows him to detect someone from far away, to read emotions, and predict an opponent's moves in battle. He also has the ability to channel his own spirit at an opponent through his sword, or in a lesser form as a tool of intimidation.
Personal Skills: Incredible speed, swordsmanship, cooking.
Likes: Peace and quiet, long walks, practicing kenjutsu.
Dislikes: Unnecessary or casual violence, apathy towards violence.
Quirks: As a consequence of the guilt he carries, he refers to himself as "This lowly/unworthy one." He is also extremely polite, except when angered, addressing others with polite Japanese suffixes.
History:
Born the child of poor rural farmers, Shinta was orphaned at an early age. He became a servant to a rich household, where he learned firsthand the division between rich and poor. Later he was adopted by Daisuke, a childless widower and master swordsman, who taught him all that he knew. Daisuke was already old when he adopted Shinta, and when the boy was fourteen he died of a fatal wasting disease.
Shinta lived alone in the forest for several months, until a daimyo(lord) in Edo recognized his skill with the sword and recruited him as a personal guard and assassin for the shogun. At first he did he followed their wishes, believing he was helping to uphold the honor of the state, but the work soon wore on his conscience. His deadliness earned him the nickname, "Demon sword."
During the time he was an assassin he fell in love with a woman named Natsuko, a waitress at a restaurant near where he stayed. Natsuko did not like his occupation and often spoke to him about it, but Shinta felt honor-bound to perform his duties. A group of his enemies found out about Natsuko and abducted her to lure him into a trap. He rushed to the meeting place as soon as he got their message, but they had already stabbed her through the heart. With her last breath, she reached out to touch his face, scarring his cheek with the dagger she held in her hand. In rage he slew her all her abductors, members of the Shadow ninja clan, who still fear him to this day.
Later, realizing that the violence of his way of life had directly caused her death, and feeling a climax of the guilt that had already been building in his heart, he swore an oath never to kill again. In his grief he tried to destroy his sword by banging it against a cliff face, but ended up only blunting it instead. Since he could not perform his duties without killing, he became a wanderer and a fugitive. The shogun is still offering a large sum equivalent to 15 million dollars for his capture.
After six years of wandering he stumbled on the pagoda. At first he entered only for a few nights' shelter and rest, but the kind acceptance and hospitality of the pagoda residents has caused him to decide to remain there indefinitely.

History: Gabriel was born in the Demon world. His father was Dyanel's father's highest general, he never knew his mother. His father died in combat, making Seiya raise him.

Gabriel didn't start living with Seiya until he was about 800 years old (8 year old. He knew of Dyanel all his life. THey were bethrothed to each other since she was born. He fell in love with her, but she didn't love him back. He grew tired of waiting so he trained harder as a warrior.

He found love again when he met a fellow demon. Her name was Ather, they were on and off again since a lot of wars were going on. Then when the wars between the shifters got out of hand, Dyanel came back with Cole to their world and fought side by side. They lost Seiya, but Dyanel didn't want the throne. She gave it to Gabriel making him King of the Demons.

He finally gave up on Dyanel forever. He married Ather, having Nicoletta. Ather died giving birth to Nicoletta so he's very protective about her. Now he's seeing Maydriel but he's not sure how far he wants to go with a vampire. He's been keeping track of Dyanel lately. He doesn't like the fact that she's always alone no matter how many times she's been married. Maydriel let him go because she wanted to keep the vampire lines going.

He watched Nicoletta grow up now that she's sixteen. He's a bit worried about her relationship with Cole's brother, but he knows his daughter is happy and he's willing to keep it that way.
