Okay well... I dont know if other schools have this, but I hear they normally do. My school has a band camp every year for marching band. Its usually held in the late summer and happens for two weeks. Though before it would be from 8 am to 4 pm, he chanced it to 8am to 5pm. Because of this change it wouldn't allow me to get to work on time, so I requested off the next two weeks on the week days, which was a good idea because I know I'd be exhausted anyway.
I'm afraid I haven't memorized my music and band camp starts this monday XD But I should be okay, I'll have it memorized before the first show.
I'm a vegetarian and a very anemic one at that. So I'm making plans for myself to drink fortified breakfast shakes every morning to give me a needed boost. Going to pack lunches that may have: cheese sandwhich, honey lemon slices, a fruit juice or V8, maybe some sliced apples and some carrot sticks. Might also bring something high in sodium to keep everything balanced. Maybe pretzel sticks.
Lemon Honey slices are a great remedy. Not only is it good when you catch a cold. But its great for athletes. Its got that Vitimin C, anti-oxidants and the honey has the natural sugar so your body can absorb the nutrition better. I also take vitimins v_v
The things we need are: -Lots of water! -Sunscreen -Wear light colored clothes and shoers [I have NEVER worn shorts to marching band unless it was require for a show] -Pack Lunch -Instrument and music of course! -Extra reeds -"Dot book" and pencil -Athlete shoes -thick Athlete socks -Hat with brim
What are you guys doing to prepare?

::My band camp already ended.:: We finished last friday. Ours sucks now because we don't even stay anywhere anymore. We just go to a stadium everyday early in the morning and stay there until late afternoon. We had to be at the High School ready to go at 7:15am. x.x

That's us, and we've never gone anywhere.
Usually we practise at the field next to the middle school, not the football field.
There's even less shade(if possible), and the ground's uneven.
Injuries are bound to happen!

Onto my second week of band camp. :"D <333
We basically need the same things you guys need. Especially water since it's always hot in Texas. Everyday I take Cetrum chewable tablets because of my malnutrition, and it helps a lot. x]
Our times: 8am to 11:30 am-marching band 1:00pm to 3 pm is indoor music lessons. 8]

Im getting ready by doing nothing. Im a senior. Im allowed to slack of a little this summer since the season is going to be hell (along with being a section leader and officer). So I am lifting weights just so I don't get noddle limbs and thats about it. I don't even have my music memorized and band camp starts next monday.
Im not a good example

Our band camp starts this Monday (13th)! It goes from 9-6 for two weeks. Sunscreen is your best friend at band camp, even though everyone always has a farmer's tan by the end of it... sweatdrop

Haha, we have precamp for a week at the school, then we go off to camp about an hour away for a week, we leave tomorrow morning. I need to go buy shorts and stuff and pack. I'm such a procrastinator. redface

Honestally, I don't get ready for band camp.
We have band camp in our own band room. We practice marching up at a practice field.
I love how our band is different from everyone else's.

Guhh... we just finished "home" band camp. Now we're off to "away" band camp tomorrow!
For some reason, this year's juniors and sophomores enjoy chucking water balloons at each other [and at the poor freshmen!], so instead of bringing five days worth of clothing (it's five days), it is recommended we bring nine. And lots of pajamas. rolleyes
I'm the only junior besides my friend that is... intelligent and refrains from such activities.
