I apologize for not being all that active for the past two weeks; I've been at band camp. But fear not, for I have brought stories of randomness that occurred.

This one is a tale of how all the snare drummers became locked in a closet together and were unable to escape.

The second week, the band got kicked out of the high school and sent to practice at the junior high next door because the high school was being used for something else (we were never told what, though...) When we broke into sectionals, we had to use the junior high rooms. The clarinets managed to get the choir room. Now, the choir room has a giant closet - so large, in fact, that during the school year it doubles as the keyboarding classroom. Ha! Now I've set the mood!

During the end of one of our sectionals, the snare drummers were bored and walked into our room simply to cause chaos. In order to drive them away, some of the clarinets thought it would be funny to take away their sticks and put the drummers in the closet. They planned to just hold the door shut until they agreed to leave. Unfortunately, as soon as the doors closed, people at both sides realized that they couldn't open them up again.

Of course, being drummers, when they first realized this, their first reaction was if they could have their sticks back... sweatdrop

After we managed to slide their sticks under the door, one of us went to get Dr. Schnider, the principal of the jr. high. He and the drum instructor came back with a big ring of keys, laughing at the drummers predicament. His laughter stopped as he tried key after key. It turned out, he didn't have the key to the closet. Also, because it was summer, anyone who could possibly have a key was gone.

After the band director and the assistant band director arrived and realized that they couldn't do anything to get them out, they called for all the office administrators in the school - none of which could do anything either. The whole time, the drum instructor making them practice - heck, they had their sticks, why not?

The office administrators of the high school came as well, and after much randomness with them, someone had the brilliant idea hey! Maybe we should call a locksmith! Eventually, the locksmith arrived, but when they finally opened the door, expecting to find four drummers, they found only one, and a giant hole in the ceiling where a tile should have been. Evidentially, in order to escape the room, they decided to go through the ceiling in some kind of James Bond-ish fashion.

After crawling around above eveyone's heads for a while, they did come down, eventually. When the band director returned to the rest of the band with them, his only comment was "I'm sorry about the delay, but I had to get some drummers out of the closet."

I have a photo of them crawling out of the ceiling on my phone. I'd post it on here, but it won't send it to a computer, which makes me sad.

Yeah. The drumline is kind of crazy.

... in fact, the whole band is also. There was one day where many of the guys came to band camp all dressed up as Quailman (you know, from Doug) During warm-up, the assisstant band director, Ms. Forbes, had to shout out
"For all you Quailmen out there, GET CHO UNDAHWEAR OFF YA PANTS!" It was hysterical.
