The head scout position was the job of Mosi's dreams. She could take an active role, and wasn't assigned to patrolling one set area. It gave her the chance to speak to many other pridelanders, and all the excersize she could hope for.

Every now and then, though, she needed to check in to see how the scouts she was in charge of did on their rounds, if they had anything to report.

This early morning she would check in with Bushido, a scout she'd learned of from Kamiklika when taking this position. She hadn't met them all yet, but absently hoped none of them had a problem with one of the younger adults taking the job.

She left earlier than usual to find the borders, knowing now he took the nightly rounds, and hoped to catch him before he drifted off to sleep. Now where was he?

He was tired, it had been a long night, but a night that he had cherished like no other, for one brief moment the past had faded away and for the first time since he could remember he had not felt alone. It was a moment that was to fade all two quickly, and with the morning came doubts and torment.

It had been wrong, he knew it had, or at least he thought he knew. He had broken the code of honor, and worse he had harmed a gentle soul, a creature he had never wanted to hurt. Then why? Why had he not stopped, why had he given in and allowed the act to happen?

He shook his head, flattened ears sunken beneath his mane, the water he had taken refuge in still clinging to his dark hide. His paws carried him where he did not know, carrying him to his own daily refuge without his direction.

His head raised, blue eyes settled on a familiar dark form, the head scout, and somehow he already knew he was not going to like this day.

"Bushido, morning! .... Long night?" From a distance she caught sight of him, quirking a brow, then noticing a familiar scent. Huh.... So that's where Kani got off to... now, Mosi felt the hair on the back of her neck prickle, but she ignored it. Kani was a grown woman, and she needed to know how to handle herself. Life experiences were necessary to grow, but the protective one she was, she hoped she was misreading thier intermingled scents.

He wasn't going to tell her what had happened the night before if he could help it, instead attempting the appearance that all was well and that he was simply tired from his night of patrolling. Not that he wanted to deceive her, far from it, but it didn't seem to be the best subject to share first thing in the morning, nor did it seem one she would be interested in.

But there was a sudden change in her posture, an unfriendly change. He might have wondered why, but he was afraid he'd already seen the reason as his eyes fell on white markings, markings that matched those he had seen the night before and he now remembered why Sheshe'kani's markings had seemed familiar.

Oh, he knew it was going to be a long day, a day he suddenly wished he could skip, faced with a lioness he now wished he could avoid. But he could do no such thing, for Mosi had already spoken to him, and he could allow no further harm by lying to her.

"So... do you have anything to report...?"

One brow lowered, the other quirking upwards, the expression was an infamous one, but especially for the dark lioness. It was as though she were knowingly asking him to spill whatever news he had.

No, not even that.

The look just plain said: "I'm onto you. You'd better spill."

He opened his maw, but when no words came he closed it again. What was he to say, 'I think I shagged your daughter last night'? But he had to say something.

"I must apologize, I abandoned my post last night to spend time with a young lioness I met at the water."

He bowed his head in apologetic submission, his maw open a moment longer as if he wanted to say more but could find no more words to do so.

... This was not shaping out to be a good conversation.... or situation............. oh.... dear gods.

The post abandonment could be overlooked, really, in light of the crisis situation they might have on their paws that sort of outweighed that drama.

"... Ah...? Th... the whole night?" She asked, and if she had skin in place of fur, she'd be looking mighty pale, staring at Bushido.

Then, without much warning, Mosi blinked out of her daze and glowered, moving closer and stopping just near enough to reach out, touching his shoulder with a paw harmlessly. Of all the times for her "powers" to work, please let it be now. She had to know, and she didn't want to pry the information out of him. And, well, the vision she got was certainly informative. Shock got the better of Mosi as the reality of the situation hit her like a batch of flying bolders. Juhudi was going to absolutely FREAK. OUT. SHE was freaking out, and she was always the one saying things like: "Oh let them bump their head once or twice, they'll learn.".

"Y--?! W- ... YOU!!! YOU DID WHAT?!?!"

For a lion facing an angry mother, his voice was remarkable calm. However, as his lowered posture betrayed, it was not calm that kept his voice from shaking.

He shied away from her touch, retreating a step from the dark lioness. She knew, he did not know how she knew, but she knew, he could see it in her eyes, her outburst a confirmation of what he had known as well. Sheshe'kani, the lioness he had spent the night with, was Mosi's daughter.

"I am very sorry."

He had not spoken it, and perhaps had not even realized it, but there had been more to the previous night than a simple act of impulse, more behind it than a lonely lion and a lioness in season. There was something more there, perhaps they truly were kindred spirits.

Calm, calm... whatever happened to being calm? SCREW being calm. She found that she couldn't! Kani, out of all their family members, besides Xu, was probably the least equipped to handle this kind of thing. She was so much like her uncle, always putting others first, putting up an emotional front of bravery and ignoring their own feelings, and Mosi used to swear she didn't understand the girl, but she did more than she realized. Kani was probably devastated right now, feeling used, and knowing her she probably didn't understand the concept of a one-night stand.

Mosi fixed the male with a stern glare, though it was surprisingly less angry than her raised voice let on. She didn't look like she planned to move again from her spot, not bothering with violence, having more control than that.

"Oh you sure as hell had better not be. I'll tolerate a lot, but my daughter being some random regret is not one of those things." She warned with a sharp growl, chest heaving a little with the efforts to calm down now, and it worked. "Get some rest. You're going to need it. I'm coming back at dusk and you're going to straighten this out with her."

He might have retreated further, fully expecting a further outburst, but his paws remained still, held to the earth by the anger of the lioness before him. He could feel the heat rising along his back and across his shoulders, like a child about to be punished for some disobedient act.

His maw opened, a protest caught in his throat, cut off before it'd had a chance to leave his mouth. Sheshe'Kani had not been just a 'random regret', no, she was more than that. She was a kind and gentle creature that had, for one night brightened his life. He would have never intentionally harmed her, never.

"As you wish."

Any protests and explanations would have to wait until later, when hopefully tempers would have cool and parental ears would be more inclined to listen. It would also give him time to think, to sort out his own feelings, but he didn't know how he was going to rest.

"Your daughter, was not just a random regret, she means much more than that to me."

He had said it, leaving those words to linger on her ears, as after a respectful bow and turned, allowing his paws to continue their trek to his daytime retreat. There he could be alone with his thoughts, until the evening came.

Mosi refrained from going off on a further tirade, not being one that liked to just piss and moan unless there was a point, and beating a dead horse didn't qualify as a good point.

Only with his parting words did she relax at all, waiting until he'd gone to let out her breath in a rough exhale.

She needed to find Shin'jougen. They were going to need a babysitter for the night.
