I just can home today from work, and mind you it was a very hot day. I came home to find my fish tank water very warm. My family has this rule to have the AC off when no one is home, but I worry about my fish.
What is a safe way to cool the water down in the tank without shocking my fish from the temperature change?
Can I put a few ice cubes every now and then to slowly bring down the temperature?

you can point a fan at the top of the aquarium, it will cool it off. umm i am guessing you dont have money for a chiller ?

A few ice cubes wont hurt them because they melt slowly and adapt to water temperatures... just dont dump like 12 in at once.... 2-3 will be okay for a 5 gallon , and once they are melted give the fish time to adjust before adding more
