Two deer had locked their antlers bellowing and grunting, the smaller, brown deer reared back. He bucked back and charged again at the larger, pied stag. The stag came forward, upon clashing antlers again, he carefully tossed his head to the side and threw the buck down. "Give it up, Thorn," The outrider grinned, "you just need a full set of antlers." The buck huffed, and sneered,"Not to take you, I don't."

A star pelted stag was doing his usual patrol, as outriders did, when he happened upon the sparring pair. Brows lifted at the combat, and Brychan decided to observe from his standpoint. It was not yet Anlach, but he supposed that hormones coule already be coursing through the veins of some of the stags and bucks.
As long as it was not violent, he saw no reason to interupt them. After all, a friendly spar now and then, could be fun.

Brych noticed movement from the coner of his eye and turned his head. Focused as he was, Thorn did not untill he saw change in his oppenent.
"Huh," he said, standing beside his blood brother,"Isn't that...." "Brychan, yes. They say he'll be promoted to captain soon." Thorn got a look in his eye,"Cool! Think he'll give us a few tips?" Without waiting for an answer, the buck charged down to meet him. "Hey! Hold on!" Brych called. Following him, he blushed slightly, not really sure if they should aproach the stag.

Brows lifted and mouth upturned slightly in an amused smirk as the two charged towards him. The stag waited where he was standing as they approached, ears turning forward as he called out his greeting. "Herne be with you both. Its a fine day is it not? Seems you two are making the most of it."
He didn't really know these two very well, aside from Brych who had a similar name to his own. Thus, that one wasn't really all that hard to remember.

Brych bowed his head,"And also with you." Thorn quickly gave the proper responce and proceeded to jump to the guns. "Uh-huh. Brych is helping me get ready for Anlatch," the young one was obviously excited,"I've got my second set of antlers, see?" He paused a moment to show them off. "I'll be a proper stag, come Anlatch. I can't wait!" Brych rolled his eyes,"And it's all he thinks about, can't even sleep for the anticipation. Nor for that matter," he lowered his gaze to Thorn,"will he let me."

Brychan bellowed his laughter at the enthusiasm that Thorn exuded. "So you have, and a nice pair I might add." The stag nodding resolutely as he looked over the set the young buck sported. "Have your eye on any hinds yet? There will be quite a few young, unclaimed ones this year." The amusement still danced in Brychan's eyes as he passed a glance to Brych. Wondering how he was faring with the seemingly boundless energy of Thorn. This was a pretty common thing for the young and upcoming bucks, though.

Thorn beamed at the complement, his expression changed and he blushed at the question regarding the hinds,"One or two....." Brych smiled,"Not my cousin surely?" "Ew, no! Are you crazy?" "Crazy enough to hang around you." Thorn was tempted to take a jab at his friend, but wanted to appear mature. He looked back to Brychan,"By the way, I'm Thorn, and this is Brych." "Oh, yes," Brych seemed embarressed for forgeting his manners,"Sorry."

Again Brychan laughed, not seeming to mind the sudden rememberance of manners. He nodded as they introduced themselves, "I'm Brychan, and its a pleasure to meet you both. I've seen you among the Outriders, Brych. I apologize for not taking a moment to speak with you sooner." He then looked to Thorn, "I'm sure you'll make a fine Outrider one of these days as well, Thorn. There have been a lot of promising bucks this year as well." He's spoken with a handful of Corps and new Outriders, and Brychan has liked what he's seen.

"It's fine," Brych quickly assured him,"and the pleasure's all mine." Thorn grinned,"Brych here wants to become a captain when he gets older. But I don't think he'll make it," Thorn teased,"He gets all nervous around the more expeirenced Outriders, no intrest in hinds, hopeless." He gave a mock sigh to show he was only kidding around, but Brych got deffensive. "Senior Outriders command respect," he countered,"And I can be a captain without wanting a harem."

Brows lifted at the exchange of words between the two before him. "A captain, hm? Well I have no doubt you'll make it there if you work hard enough." Brychan himself was striving for such a rank, and beyond that. "No interest in hinds? Well I must say, that's a pity, but to each their own." He thought that all strong stags should sire offspring, that way it ensured the future of their herd.

Brych knew it was odd for a stag not to be interested in hinds, but he couldn't help it. And yet, the encouragement countered the comment on his prefrence,"Thank you, I hope so."
"Speaking of such," Thorn piped in,"I was hoping you could give us a few pointers, when it comes to sparring I mean?"

Blink. Pointers on sparring? Brychan had to admit that nobody had ever asked him for such a thing. He had to stop and think about that one for a moment. "Well... such things are better learned with experience. Each stag has their own strengths and weaknesses, and you need to discover your own before you can learn your opponent's. A pair of strong antlers certainly doesn't hurt, but there is more to it." He smiled to himself as he remembered his last few battles during Anlach. The hinds he'd fought for had been worth it, and half of his strategy came with instinct.

Brych soaked up the advice, and made a metal note to sparr with as many stags as possible. Thorn seemed to mull it over, as if savering a paticuraly good bite of grass. Of course, he thought his only obvious weakness was being short, but that should change in time....
"Expeirence..... Well, would you sparr with us?" Thorn asked.
Brych's jaw dropped, but he quickly closed it, "He's a little ambitious," he said apologetically to Brychan, then looked at Thorn, "Not every Outrider in the herd can take the time to train the Corp at once, we've taken up enough of Outrider Brychan's time already." He said this calmly and politely to his friend, not wanting him to be so bold, but not wanting to dishearten him either.

Brychan just laughed at Thorn's request, but disregarded Brych's attempts to get his comrade not to bother him. "Ambitious?" the starry pelted stag answered back with a grin, "Well so am I."
The Outrider then lowered his antlered head and pawed at the ground with a hoof. "Give me your best shot." Well if that wasn't an affirmative answer to the sparring request, then nothing would be.

Thorn broke into and open mouthed grin, then got serious and charged at Brychan. It was a reckless, clumsy attack; but it he put his heart into it.
Brych hung back a bit, wishing he had asked first. He looked at Thorn's first move in a 'I could have done better' fashion. He'd been polite and well mannered, and his blunt and overly-forward blood brother had beaten him to a sparring partner. Go figure.
