In the shadow of the Pali: a story of the Hawaiian leper colony by Lisa Cindrich
This book is one of the top saddest, greatest books I've read. Here's the summary:
In the late nineteenth century, twelve-year-old Liliha is sent to the Kalaupapa Leprosy Colony at Molokai, Hawaii, where she struggles to endure savage living conditions and people, as well as her own disease.
It's kinda sick...and heartbreaking, but a very very good story about survival and being stuck out on an island at a young age and be forced to fend for yourself while everyone else on the island is sick.
It's sad!!
