Ok, here is a great question. Please, everyone who reads this, give us your opinion because this is a topic that is interesting and VERY COOL!Does Satan have intelligence? Believe me, after this discussion, you can bring this up to your parents, missionaries and even your Bishop and talk with them and perhaps shed light on it for them! In any of these discussions, it's not about being right or wrong; it's about sharing your opinion and perhaps learning more about a certain topic than you knew before. The more we get discussing it, the better. JOIN IN!!!

( rofl rofl rofl Thanks for the poll, snaksie! )
I'm sure he does. He at least has enough intelligence to know when/where to tempt. He knows what will tempt us the most, but the most he knows about is the timing, I think he's more patient than intelligent. Patience is the most important thing to him, I think. I think the more patience he has, the more intelligent he'll become. The more he waits for information, the more he'll know.

Yeah he does have intelligence. He sure isn't stupid. Look at the world around us. I have to say he got a pretty good hold. He knows about the Although I have to say. I don't think patience is the most important thing to him. For he doesn't have to wait to get info on us. He lived in the pre-mortal life with us. He knows us. Thats how he can tempt us.

Those both are great responses! I agree that he uses patience to tempt us and I agree that he knew us before and therefore knows SOME of our weaknesses. It's great to hear what you both think.
What does everyone else think? We have two great responses. Anyone else have an opinion?

*raises hand* I have more! razz You say that satan only knows SOME of our weaknesses. Well... As far as I know... he knows all of our weaknesses. How many times have we gotten into fights with friends and said mean things? Or how many times have we watched a movie that doesn't really draw you near Christ (It doesn't have to be Rated R. It can be PG-13) How many times have we watched TV shows that aren't really that good? (Like Gilmore girls, CSI, Raymond, Friends, reality tv shows, talk shows...ect) How many times have we felt discourage and ready to give up on something important? Listened to music that mentioned killing, cheating, lies, people hurting others, lust, and other stuff that most popular songs mentioned? In Nov 1988 Conference, Joseph B. Wirthlin says:Quote: This is true because Lucifer is on the prowl. He knows that his days are numbered. He has learned how to destroy people, especially the youth. He seeks to find any c***k in the armor of each person. He knows our weaknesses and knows how to exploit them if we allow him to do so. We can defend ourselves against his attacks and deceptions only by understanding the commandments and by fortifying ourselves each day through praying, studying the scriptures, and following the counsel of the Lord’s anointed. Elder David B. Haight, July 1793, Ensign, said: (Which is an awesome article. Read it if you get a chance) Quote: Some people roar with laughter as a television comic remarks, “The devil made me do it.” Well, maybe he did! He will always try. To deny the existence of Satan and the reality of his evil power and influence is as foolish as ignoring the existence of electricity. We know electricity is real; we see and feel its power. We also know about war, hatred, backbiting, false witnesses, cheating, and the broken hearts and broken homes caused by the moral sins of modern Babylon. Do members of this church feel a lack of evidence in the reality of Satan and his power? So yeah I'll say he is smart. I say he knows a lot about our weakness. He isn't something that should be taken lightly at all. Its pretty serious stuff.

that's a great answer! and he probably has intelligence because he slowly tries to mke people think it's not bad what they're doing and then when it's to late he acts. he makes things very subtle so that he fools people into following his ways.

As far as I can see. I don't see a definition of intelligence in the scriptures. But the dictionary at answers.com says. 1. The capacity to acquire and apply knowledge. 2. The faculty of thought and reason. 3. Superior powers of mind
Satan does indeed have intelligence. More of the question is..... Why wouldn't he? He is like us only he was casted out of heaven. He can't get a body like we can. Those who want to, can read Moses chapter 4 to see just how Satan became the devil.

The scriptural definition of intelligence is light and truth (D&C 93).
So, does Satan have either light or truth?

Ah okay. That would be talking about Intelligence of God. Its knowing about Truth and Light. The scriptures tells us to gain this intelligence of truth and light. So, Yes Satan does know about Truth and Light.

Well, intelligence IS truth and light. And while Satan may know about it, does he have any?

Hmm... I don't think so. That's what he's trying to take from everyone. So I think he doesn't have any, but he wants it...?

Oh pardon me. I said truth and light. ^^; Its the Light of Truth. D&C 93:29 Quote: Man was also in the beginning with God. Intelligence, or the light of truth, was not created or made, neither indeed can be. 36 Quote: The glory of God is intelligence, or, in other words, light and truth. Intelligence is knowing the truth and light. Its knowledge. D&C 93:24 Quote: And truth is knowledge of things as they are, and as they were, and as they are to come; D&C 93:39 Quote: And that wicked one cometh and taketh away light and truth, through disobedience, from the children of men, and because of the tradition of their fathers. D&C 93:40 Quote: But I have commanded you to bring up your children in blight and truth. Satan may not have the full truth and not any light. But, thats what makes him more dangerous. He can twists lies into half-truths. And I don't think he wants it. He may be able to take it from people, but its not something you can keep. Look at the world and how tainted and evil it is.

That's a great answer. Intelligence is light and truth. It can also be described as applying knowledge towards gospel principles. Satan has much more knowledge than we do. However, he has NO intelligence, since he has neither light nor truth. He is in outer darkness where there is neither light or truth. He has many half-truths. As it says in D&C 93, anything more or less than truth comes from that wicked one (Satan). He does twist the truth or gives 90% truth and 10% lies, which means it is no longer truth. As we apply knowledge towards gospel principles, we gain more intelligence, until hopefully one day we will be as Heavenly Father and have all the truth. Heavenly Father is a free agent, meaning He has all agency, whereas we only have as much agency as the degree to which we are following the commandments. Satan has no agency (but that is for a later discussion) and is miserable and wants to take away our intelligence and agency so that we will be miserable also.
So, the answer to the original question...Does Satan have any intelligence... is actually no. He has none. Zero. Zip. Nada.
We have quite a bit which gives us an advantage over him. We must keep ours and hopefully increase it by following the commandments of God. It is an interesting topic. Like I said at the beginning...you can ask your parents, the missionaries or even your bishop and see what they say. Most say yes, just because it seems like he does. But most don't understand the key difference between knowledge and intelligence.
I hope you find it as interesting as I do! smile
