Days were beginning to drag on. Tabansi liked his place in this pack, he did. He was glad he was joined and he was glad Lilith was so busy recruiting more and more wolves to join this cesspool brigade. Because the more wolves meant the more his stories would be told. Bigger audience was always nice, but the small venues were nice too. He was like an entainer here. Not like the lust wolves that spread across the grounds like flies to dung, but he was more respected then that. And it was certainly a good feeling.
But he was lonely.
Unfortunately the only two female courtesan wolves were not his type. They were young of course and certainly easy on the eyes. But they weren't young enough. Tabansi was no ***** of course! That is not to be mistaken. He didn't go after pups or wolves who were still too emotionally immature to understand what he was doing to them.
But, he still liked the young stuff.
Even here were one could wear their sins like great big badges of honor this sort of thing was looked down upon. Lilith had once offered her own daughter and Tabansi had taken the bait. But the daughter had grown up, being one of the two whores he didn't want.
Perhaps today was a day for travel?

Where was her mother and her father?
The lithe mute colored fem looked around frantically. She didn't see her brothers and sisters anywhere. It was a sad fact that worried her and caused her chest to tighten painfully. The teen had JUST been with them not but five seconds ago. And now where had they gone? Even Laos was missing! Gerda's ears settled on her skull and flattened even further. As far as they would go. This was not good. She tucked her tail in between her legs and kept her head dipped down. All of a pass to make herself appear to be smaller.
She wasn't a scaredy wolf, not by any means. But even the bravest knew the right times to be afraid.
Especially if one could not speak.
Gerda's biggest fear was that she had somehow lost her brother. Loosing him was something that seemingly could occur at any moment so the fear was always present. He was the one she always stayed with and he was likewise always around her. But he could not hear just as she could not speak.
This certainly was a bad prediciment she had managed to work her way into.

He moved westward but still did not stray too far away from the pack. One had an inherrited knowledge of their pack, but also what surrounded it. Tabansi knew this well since he was there with Lilith when she was first establishing her borders. It was he who suggested to use the dunes as training grounds even though he was not one born to fight, hunt, and kill. Thus the okapi pelted male knew which direction he was headed. He wouldn't go TOO far. No, such a thing wasn't wise when you were one as old as he.
He stopped raising his eyes to the heavens then dropping them in the horizon as ears perked at the smallest sound.
He kept on, thinking it as nothing.
He knew if he kept going he would run into another pack, one he didn't know much about only it was a pack full of similary marked and colored wolves.
A family pack he supposed.
He would avoid that. He only stopped where the unclaimed lands where. Between Gomorrah, this family pack, and whatever else lay in waiting. It was here that he sat pack on his haunches hoping to find some sort of entertainment or at least clear his head from the troubled thoughts he'd been having.
He stoppped again however. Finding neither of these things. Instead he find something that brought even more frustrations into his already dilluted mind.
A young one, perhaps his for the taking?

Because the young pup had not learned to speak she had to rely on other senses to convey what she was trying to say. Thus in turn, she was more readily aware to this same feat displayed by another. If a wolf had a strong scent Gerda learned things from it. If the wolf had a particular manner of speaking the mute wolf learned from it. Even other animals gave tells that the femme could gather information from. The wind, the rain. Perhaps too, it was because she was around Laos so much. She had learned to attone her senses more. He, afterall, was the master of sight and scent even if he did not hear. But, this was no matter to her as she heard for him. So her since of hearing was sharpened by default.
She smelt Tabansi before she saw him.
She heard the movement before she smelt him.
When she saw him finally, it proved her other two senses right. He sounded heavy, a large wolf. He smelt musky, a large wolf. Intermingled with this smell was that of others. He must be a pack wolf!
But from no pack of hers. She should avoid him. There was no room for anymore fear and running into a stranger, when she couldn't call for help, would only bring more.
She turned around and tried to go back the way she came.

Tabansi spotted her before she had time to dart away fully. A great smile crossed his maw as he let his eyes sweep freely over the femme's lithe body. She was too far away to see what he was looking at so he felt safe looking at her this way. Her coat was pure with only a grey marking covering her back and a mask on her eyes. Very pretty. He smiled all onto himself, admiring her pelt some more.
She looked dazed for a moment.
Confused.
He wondered what was wrong. Common sense told him she was lost in someway. Perhaps she was from the family pack he'd thought upon earlier? That would make the most sense. Perhaps he would show her the way back? But, it wasn't his place to meddle in the affairs of other wolves. Even one as breathtaking as this one. He inwardly scolded himself.
He should learn by now it wouldn't do wise to fancy the young.
But, all the same he did have a half mind to help her. What harm could it hurt? Only he might be danger. Unfortunately his reputation did preceed him in some places of the woods. His former pack had a nasty way of spreading gossip about him. Most of it was true, but Tabansi cared not. Other then his well being, what did he care what the others thought of him. He shouldn't meddle. He really knew that.
But he could not quell the desires so he padded over to her just as she was about to leave.
"You there," he said, calling out. "Don't be alarmed. Are you lost?"

When she heard someone approaching Gerda sped up slightly. But, it wasn't enough to get out of the way. The male wolf had obviously spotted her and was now coming up on her. She could outrun him. She was sure of it. The only problem was if she did she might just get further lost.
All she wanted to do was go back home.
What if he could help? What if she was about to run from someone who could lead her straight back to her packlands? But still Gerda was wary. She could not speak so she knew since she was young, the dangers of being alone. Or being away from Laos.
A wayward sigh escaped her maw as she internally weighed her options. Should she give into fear or should she give into senseless bravery. Her eyes ticked around as she finally stopped moving and turned around to face him. She could not speak so could not give a voiced greeting back to him.
But she did nod her head slightly. Her way of saying 'hello'.

Tabansi watched as she continued to move away from him. Had she not heard? Or was she being coy? The latter thought made his heart thump around in his chest. He loved it when they did that!
He shook his head.
No! He had almost forgotten he wasn't supposed to think of things such as that. His mind was a constant battleground. He knew he wasn't a COMPLETE monster. But, there was still that part of him, the dark part that loved the female youth. Why couldn't he find some other female, someone older? There was plenty in the pack that would prove suitable. He even had a mate once! But time and time again his mind difted elsewhere.
On younger things.
Maybe there was no winning the war. Maybe the fates had cursed him with this. Maybe he was destined to be alone. Or maybe he should give in? In any case, the female had now turned around.
He waited for an answer but there was none.
"Hello?" He said agan, maw twisting into a tight frown. When she said nothing further he asked, "Well can't you speak?"

When he called out the greeting a second time the white femme couldn't help but frown. She hated to be talked to do like that. She wasn't dumb, only mute. It was a pity so many wolves thought they went hand in hand together.
She nodded her head again, connecting her eyes with his and holding his gaze. Perhaps now he would understand that she was listening and had indeed heard his hello.
When before she felt threatened by another person now she couldn't help, but ask herself if maybe HE was the stupid one. What a silly question to ask. If she could speak wouldn't she have done so already.
But, of course this was a thought never to be voiced.
She shook her head.
No she could not speak.

So she couldn't speak?
Or she wouldn't speak?
After a two moments of silence Tabansi decided it was the former. Afterall, if she could she most likely would have spoken by now. She could have done this as an act. But, that was a foolish thing to do. Being mute would only make a wolf seem weaker, not offer any kind of protection whatsoever. He inhaled sharply, taking in her scent, her looks, and judging everthing he knew from her based off of these things alone. Now he was certain.
She really was a mute.
"Are you lost?" he asked, waiting a moment for a reaction before deciding to continue either way.
"If you are, perhaps I can take you back to your home. Are you from the family pack out yonder there?"
As he talked beating down strange desires were hard, but he DID want to help the poor young female. Even if he wanted to do evil and wanton things with her as well. But this was a cyst in the back of his mind. If he concentrated hard enough maybe he could just ignore it.
One could hope.

She was uneasy. Gerda did not like this feeling of being scrutinized. Not one big. She shifted her weight, digging her paws into the soft earth below. So much so that bits of dirt and tattered leaves pushed upwards in between her toes. This male was having an internal conversation with himself, she could tell. But, the act only made her grow more cautious. Just what was he thinking about anyway. And why? Finally he spoke and she relaxed a little.
But not by much.
At his question she nodded her head. Yes she was lost, very much so. Of course it did not take a seer to figure this out. Why else would she be wondering around aimlessly? Oh if Gerda could talk what a spitfire she would be!
Both brows lifted as she followed his head jerkings to look at the stretch of woods just behind and to the left of them. The family pack! Yes, the Yero pack, he knew it.
She would be home soon enough!
But she did not want him to guide her. No, by his action alone she had a general idea on where to head. And that was far more then she had known before meeting him. Without making another gesture she turned 'round to go walk in that direction.

Where was she going?
Confusion was etched across his great maw. Was she dumb as well as mute? He shook his head, waving away that thought as soon as it entered his brain waves. She couldn't be dumb. Thus far she seemed to have understood every word he had spoken. That showed she had sense and if she had sense then clearly she couldn't be mentally incapictated. So he guessed she was just leaving, having now found a direction to head off into.
This was not good.
Not one bit.
He snorted and quickly moved forward. His mind was going back between the wanton desires that constantly filled his heart and lusty nature to the sense he also had. The good sense that told him that the young were to be taught and guided...
Not to be used for anything else.
But, the fact that she was a mute made him all the more irritated. Not because she couldn't speak and respond with words to him, but because he couldn't properly understand what she was trying to convey to him. He halfway thought she was being rude to him, and he halfway thought she was scared of him. Now that her being dumb was out of the question. He decided to put things on the even playing filled to at least give him another shot at spending more time with her.
For whatever motive that was.

He was still following her.
Gerda's eyes ticked from one length of the horizon unto the other. She didn't like this strange blue male. He unnerved her. The little female had always had a sixth sense even if it could not fully be called that. She could get a good read off of another and she had always loved that about herself. Her brother too had used this gift when they were together. And now that sense was crying out to her about this wolf, making her edgy and ansy.
Finally she turned around to face him, her brow raised as if to shout 'What do you want?!'
of course he would not be able to hear the words she was thinking, but by her anger ridden maw he would damn well be able to figure it out. And if not? Well then he must be really stupid.

Ooooooof! If looks could kill! He halted in his steps instantly, looking at her as if she had just struck him.
Yes, he got the message; loud and clear.
But, that did not detour him. Tabansi was too old to be bullied around by some teenage femme. Even if that same femme was filling his usually wise mind with filth. He snorted and let a shrug grace his heavy shoulders. If she wanted to play games then he would to. Afterall, Tabansi came from a pack where mind games were taught just as equally as the hunt was.
"I only meant to tell you you were going the wrong way," he said offhandly.
He baited the time for a reaction before continuing. "I can take you. I won't bother you. Only to show you the way. How does that sound?"

How did it sound? How did he think it sounded? Not the best scenerio in the world. Gerda made a soft grunting nose and then raised her head up, looking up at the area around them to the sky, side to side and then repeated the action. And the action was a simple feat to get good bearings on where she was now. The scents were all the same so she couldn't tell much from them.
The feeling of the air the same.
The trees and bushes, the same.
About the only thing that seemed familar was a rock that was covered with moss and had a couple of beatles on it. Just the sight of that brought distinct memories to her and she was sure she had seen it before.
So didn't that mean she was going the right way?
But according to this moron she was going the wrong way. She frowned all onto herself. She wasn't sure now. Other then the rock she didn't really see how this area was any different. And even with all her keen senses she couldn't tell one way or the other. Perhaps her mind was too clouded with longing to get back home to her brother.
Tick tock, tick tock.
Finally she sighed and turned around before nodding.
It seems she would go with the big oaf for want of home.

Tabansi felt a surge of energy as she uptook his offer. Not that he wasn't expecting it because afterall, he HADN'T displayed any kind of dominance over her and he only acted like the upmost gentlemen when guiding her to her own home. So he beamed at the thought. It was no matter what she thought now, in time she would grow to like him.
He was sure of it.
"My name is Tabansi by the way," he said, casting a sidelong glance her way as he said it.
Of course he knew she would not be able to say her own name back so he said, "Hmmmm, perhaps I should give you a name of my own. Let's see..." without waiting for a reaction, and openly allowing himself to check out her pretty coat he said, "Oh, the serpent on your coat...that's what I will name you...Gerda. It means 'snake charmer' in the old language..."
He looked over for a reaction and when he finally got one he smiled widely. Yes, she would like him, that was for certain.
Unless of course she figured out he was leading her in the wrong direction beforehand.
