A small white creature hunkered down beside the trunk of a stunted apple tree, staring up at its branches. He hummed to himself quietly, absent-mindedly, and swished his black-tufted tail to and fro. He hadn't had the red, tasty treats in quite a while, and it was time he should have some again. Decision made, he spread his black-tipped wings and jumped upwards towards the tree. He flapped his wings to gain height, but was more interested in grasping the branches with his clawed feet. Once secure, he folded his white wings against his sides and clambered throughout the tree. He was used to picking only the ripest and brightest of apples, and habits were hard to break. As such, he continued his inspection of the tree, using his clawed feet to climb all around the tree's branches. Up, down, around, upside-down, everywhere, humming all the while.

Hmm... Not many good apples at the moment, he supposed, and reached out for a bright red one. With an inward, satisfactory nod, the Shrila used his remaining free limbs to settle himself delicately on a branch to eat his well-deserved treat. He hadn't had a good rest or treat in a while, and it was high time he got both.

The tall green grasses rustled and a small green hat flew forth upon the wind. A few seconds later a green Shrila came chasing after it. Ugh why on earth did she even bother? The thing really was only troublesome and wasn't exactly pretty. Then again her grandfather had given it to her. Though as to whether or not he had been in his right mind was questionable.

As the hat came to rest between two rocks Nessa picked it up in her beak and gave it a good shake to rid it of the dirt and brush it had collected it. Then with a skillful toss she threw it up and landed it upon her head. She rather hoped it would stay there this time.

Slowly she looked about her and noticed an apple tree only a few feet away from her. Man did those apples look yummy. Though she had never been much of flier she could definately climb. Slowly she shook her wings a little and then tucked them safely to her side. Slowly she hooked her claws into the bark of the tree and began to slowly make her way up to the delicious apples that awaited her.

A sudden flash of green caught his eye, though how it stood out from the green grass he didn't know. Another sudden green thing came tumbling after it, and after the Shrila squinted his eyes, he flicked his tail in surprise. Well! He hadn't seen another Shrila since he had left his homeland. He watched her curiously, taking a bite out of his apple as he did so. That was some skill she had there, tossing her hat with her beak and having it land on her head. If he had a hat, he'd love to try that sometime.

He took another bite out of his apple and chewed it, still studying the green female. Seeing her approach the apple tree, he quirked a brow. He wasn't the only one, apparently, who enjoyed apples, though she didn't seem as adept at getting into said tree. Hmm....

He reached out slowly, picking a juicy looking apple, then dropped it onto the ground beside her. His only reason for being slow was so that it might be harder to notice him, but a white and black thing with orange legs in a brown and green tree filled with red apples, he supposed, wouldn't be hard to miss. All the same, it was fun to attempt to mess with others. How long had it been since he'd actually stopped to do so? Too long, in his opinion.

Nessa felt rather than heard the soft thunk of an apple hitting the ground. She turned to look down and saw it. The sunlight hit off of the shiny red skin. This was too perfect of an apple to have fallen by itself. carefully she abandoned the tree and took a bite out of the apple. Yes it was definately too soon for this apple to have fallen. What had made it fall?

Abandoning the apple Nessa started up the tree again. Was that a flash of white she saw? Or maybe she was just hoping to see something. It's completely possible that it was just some small bird, nah.. no small bird could drop an apple like that. A bigger one maybe... but Nessa hadn't seen any Shrila in a long time. Was there possibly one up in this tree? Was this what she had seen?

Carefully she left the tree again. This time, however, she carefully picked up the apple and after examining it once more, and perhaps taking a small bite, she chucked it full force into the canopy of the tree.

The white Shrila took another bite out of his apple as he watched her, wondering if she had seen him. He watched her start up the tree, then stop to eat more. The apple was probably too good to leave behind. That, or she had thought she saw him, but didn't. Maybe--

THUNK.

Her apple collided full-force with his forehead, sending him reeling off the branch and landing on his back on the ground. "Owww!!" He said, grabbing his forehead with his clawed forefeet, forgetting about his apple. He rubbed his head, looking over at her, ruffled at this occurrence. "Geez lady, that hurt! What in the world was that for?!" She could at least say thank you for getting the apple for her, but nooo, she had to chuck it at his face instead.

He heaved a heavy sigh. Females.. He could understand nequus mares, or at least one, perfectly well, but he always had trouble with others of his species, or even other breeds of nequus. Why in the world did she have to throw the stupid apple at his head?

The green Shrila smiled down at the white Shrila laying on the ground before her. Ahah! So there had been someone up in the tree. As she watched him rub his head she felt a little bit sorry. She really ought not to have thrown the apple so hard. Oh well, he really shouldn't have hidden himself either.. though she probably would have done the same thing. Well, there really wasn't much she could do about it now. At least she recieved a little amusement out of it.

"Didn't hit you too hard did I?" She cocked her head to the side for a better view. He was a white and black Shrila with the most interesting design upon his body. She felt a bit plain compared to him, not even her silly hat made much of a difference. Ah oh well there would be time to worry about it later.

ugh not much of a muse at the moment sorry >.<

Well, no permanent damage done, he supposed with a flick of his tail. He rubbed the spot one more time before sitting on his haunches, watching her curiously. "Well, it's a bit late for formal introductions," he said with a chuckle, "but I'm Miles." He extended one clawed to the side, placing his other over his chest, and offered her a bow before straightening up. "You can call me Milo, though," he said with a grin. "Who do I have the pleasure of addressing?"

"So what brings you all the way out here? Do you live in the valley, or are you a traveler, too?" He asked, cocking his head to the side. He really was curious; he'd been wandering all over the valley for quite some time and hadn't seen this creature before. Maybe she arrived recently? Or maybe he just never saw her before? It was easy to overlook her, he supposed, in such a place as this; the rich grass was green, and she was just about the same color as it. She might stick out more if they were in a different setting, but as it was, they weren't.

Nessa ruffled her feathers a little. This... Miles, liked to change the subject quite quickly. However, she answered his previous question first. "My name is Nessa." She said with a little nod of her head. Her mother had allways told her it wasn't very lady like, that she ought not to act like a boy, but then again Nessa had allways been rather tom boyish.

As for Milo's other question she wasn't exactly sure where she lived. Once her mother had died she had really only ever wandered. She never stayed in one place for too long. She'd like to have a home, somewhere she could always go back to.. but there was Clover. If she ever needed anywhere to stay she could look for her old Nequus friend. At least she wasn't completely alone in this world.

"I really don't have much of a place where I live. I stay with a friend if I need a place for a while but other than that I travel." It also wasn't hard to be overlooked in these lands. If she needed to hide she really only had to move back into the brush. Actually.. she was rather suprised that Milo had even noticed her.. though it was probably that damn hat that did it..

The white Shrila felt like Nessa's feathers; ruffled, mostly. Getting hit in the face with an apple and falling out of a tree usually did that to someone. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Nessa," he said, offering her another of his little bows. "Traveling is nice, in my opinion, but I enjoy more permanent homes to go back to," he said with a nod. Not like he had one to go back to anymore.

"At least you have a friend to go to, though," said the clawed creature with a shrug of his furry shoulders. Friends were nice. Come to think of it... He really didn't have any at all, save one, and he had no idea where in Urin she could be. He'd think on that later, he decided, and flicked his black-tufted tail. "What is Clover like?" He asked, truly interested. It wasn't often he stopped to have a friendly conversation with someone else, and he hadn't seen another Shrila since.. Well, since he was quite young. This was a treat, indeed. Speaking of treats... "Did you want another apple?" He quizzed, peering at Nessa with his amber eyes before offering her a grin. "I'll get one for each of us if you promise not to throw this one at me."

Nessa blushed a bit and then gave a small smile. "I'd love another apple, that is, if you don't mind. Oh and I do promise not to throw anymore apples." She waited a few moments for the Shrila to fetch the apples and as he did so she talked a bit louder so that he could hear. He had asked about Clover and she didn't see any harm in telling him.

"You wanted to know about Clover." She made it more of a statement than a question. "Well she's green, same color as me. I think her mother named her after the clover she wears round her neck, though I honestly don't know. She's a really sweat girl and very friendly. I haven't seen her since yesterday though. She came back from the beach and then muttered something about Vox. As to who that is I've no idea but she set out searching for him today." Why was Clover so interested in Vox? Had she met someone on the beach? Well, Nessa would just have to remember to ask her when she returned.

"I don't mind at all," he said with a smile, then turned towards the tree. He began humming to himself again, wiggling his behind a bit before leaping into the apple tree. He clambered through it with ease, easily picking two of the ripest apples he could find. He gently dropped them down to the ground before swiftly descending from the tree. Though he was humming and busy finding apples, he had not stopped listening.

"She sounds lovely," he said with a smile, picking up both apples and offering both to her. "You pick," he said with a smile. He figured it would be polite to let Nessa have first pick of the apples. "Vox?" He asked curiously, quirking a brow. "I've never heard of such a creature, though then again I haven't spoken to many in friendly conversation as we're having. Actually," he said, thinking on it with an amusing expression on his face, "I haven't had such conversation with anyone since before I left home." It was true, he had avoided most anyone and everyone else. He didn't know how the nequus acted around here, if they would step on him or try to hurt him. He could defend himself just fine, moving faster than the larger creatures hooves could, but it was still an unpleasant experience, he assumed. No one had ever tried to step on him before, so he wasn't exactly sure, but he figured it wasn't a fun experience.

Carefully the green Shrila reached out and grabbed an apple. Slowly she began to munch on it while she listened to Milo. To be honest Clover was really her only friend. It sounded as if Milo had the same promise. It was odd to think that a funny little Shrila like him didn't have more friends. Nessa assumed she didn't have many friends because of her odd hat. Clover enjoyed grabbing the hat from her head and flinging it into a tree. This was great amusement to the mare who knew Nessa wasn't very good at flying, this was probably the only reason the green Shrila could climb at all. Yes she was akward and not too gracefull but anyone who bothered to look at her grandfather could understand.

"I haven't any other friend than Clover." Nessa spoke up as Milo stopped talking. "Maybe we could be friends. I mean, I know that chucking an apple at your head isn't the right way to start things off, but you know we'll be laughing at it later. Though I'm sure you're in no mood to do so at the moment." Trying to keep the laughter from showing on her face Nessa bent and preened her feathers for a second. Once she had her emotions under control she looked back to Milo.

He took a bite from the other apple, nodding his head, then laughed after he swallowed. "I don't mind laughing about it now, it's not every day I get an apple thrown at my head and fall out of a tree. I've never had an apple thrown at me before, truth be told, but I've thrown... My fair share," he said delicately, an innocent look on his face. Hey, it wasn't his fault those on the receiving end had earned the apple-onslaught.

"My only friend right now is Sonata, and I have no idea where she is at the moment," he said with a sad smile, taking another bite from his apple. "I hope to find her soon, though, she needs me. We've been together since we were young, she and I have," he said with a nod, flicking his tail a bit. "She's an Ichsa, you know."

"I'd love to be friends," he said after a pause, remembering that she had suggested it. "It's certainly a wonderful thought, knowing you have more than just one friend. At least you know where yours is," he said with a chuckle.
PostPosted: Sun Aug 05, 2007 10:22 pm

Actually Nessa really had no idea where her green friend was. She knew that she had gone in search of someone but that was the extent of her knowledge. Milo seemed to look sad as he mentioned his friend's name. She could tell he longed to find her and she'd love to help him but she really did not know what to do or where to start.

"What is Sonata like?" Maybe if they talked a bit about her he would chear up. Though it was also completely possible it would only make things work. Oh she hoped she didn't upset him. Right now that was the last thing that she wanted to do.

He took another bite of his apple and chewed it slowly, to buy himself some time so he could think. "Well," he began, after a pause, "she's a lovely shade of gray, mostly. Has two white socks, one in front and one on the back leg. Her mane and tail are white, but the ends are a bright pink. She also has the same pink on her back, where it looks like it was dusted or sprinkled on, very pretty," he said with a smile, then took another bite, trying to think of how to word the description. "She's also got these lovely markings all over her, what the two-legs call 'musical notes', and they're white, except where some are on her white sock, those are gray."

How else to describe her? "She's got these lovely green eyes, almost as green as you," he said with a grin, flicking his tail. "And she's the fastest creature I've ever seen, you'd be hard put to find someone faster. Aye, and then there's her voice," he said with a smile, seeming to forget about his apple for the moment. "She's never spoken a word, Sonia hasn't; she prefers singing to speaking. She sings all day long to anyone who will listen, even to those who won't. We still can't figure out why in the world she won't speak, but I think she's perfect without speaking. She's got a lovely singing voice. Even though she doesn't speak, she seems to get along all right and communicates her thoughts and feelings perfectly fine that way. I personally think it suits her well," he said with a nod, remembering his apple and taking another bite from it.
