There are members of this world who are not what you think they are- and there are some who are exactly what you think they are. Among those are the members of the most predominant levels of society, and those who are the lowest levels.

You should not be fooled and yet their art of disguise has been taught for hundreds of years. They will attack without the slightest fear for anything but themselves. There are few ways to destroy these creatures and they have learned the art of hiding in the open. To falsly accuse someone of being one of these creatures is to condemn an innocent person so surity must first be recieved.

Often they feed on the fears of their victims and they shun the daylight. The only ways to insure death is to strike the heart of a vampire with a steak of wood or to sprinkle blessed water on them though this strategy is looked down upon because it has an acidic reaction and does not necessarily kill the creatures of the night. It is hard to sneak upon a vampire and a pure blood as rare as they are, has guardians for the day but it is still this hour that they are most vulnerable."

-Lesson One to all novices in the secret guild of "Hunters".

.: PloT :.

It is 1809 in the socialites Paris. Nobility, old and new from Louis' and Napoleans royalty are in Season. Meaning a night doesn't go by there isn't a ball somewhere and everyone attends one atleast twice a week.

The days of fear are over... or are they? Despite distress over Napoleans needs to expand the nation the nation superstition and poverty still ransack the Parisian country side and the slummier parts of the city.

Vampires are throughout. They've been sheltered in France for many years, hidden as "family" units. This role play is about a group of vampires living in the Upper classes. They aren't a "family" unit but they've moved in together. There are many of them and no one in the neighbourhood ever sees or heres anything they don't want them to hear.

In recent days many of these groupings have grown because the Hunters Guild has stepped up and are hunting incredibly ferociously. Some vampires have earned it. Everyday if you do not do exactly what you are supposed to do, you might disappear. Sometimes they are betrayed. The groups are for self protection. They have become "clans". If you turn someone into a vampire they become a member of your clan. The head of the clan is chosen by the eldest vampires in the group. Their choice is supposed to be about strength AND leadership skills. Usually they are middle aged Vampires but sometimes old and sometimes young. Once chosen they remain leader until they give it up willingly or can no longer protect their title.

.: SEtTiNG :.

In a large mansion at the end of one of the more exclusive streets. Its a dead end as well outside of the property. It houses the largest group of vampires in the city. They are of various standings socially. Many of them are still incredibly young and some of them are very old.

Most of them hold a position in society however, which works well being as most of their class is hardly ever seen during the day anyways. For the first century of being a vampire, generally you can stand a bit of sun in various states as well so for those who aren't they manage to make it look like there is life in the house that belongs to "an elderly Duke of old nobility and his children and grandchildren". Many of those who live there own buildings elsewhere and just pretend to stay in the company of the "Duke" who is so old he hardly ventures forth anymore.

You needn't belong to this house.

Gaia Name: Callista Ohtarwen
Character Name: Celine Maria Velia, commonly known as Lina
DOB: 1769
Appearance Age: 17

Race: Vampire, Gypsy
Personality: She doesn't like to talk about her childhood. She is quiet and severely insecure. A hard worker and generally appreciated. She hates her lineage thrown in her face.

Appearance: User Image
She has light black hair that lightens into dark brown... or used to.. in the summer. It is not overly thick and is soft as opposed to silky. Her eyes are a bright golden brown and her skin tone is that of dark cream. She has a slender build and is 5 foot 4" tall.

Biography: She was not born in Paris. She had been born with a caravan in Spain. Her mother was a gypsy. Her father was as well before he was killed when they entered into France when she was 4 or 5. Her mother had a few lovers after but never retook another husband. She just wasn't cut out for mothering and she wasn't good at it.

She left the caravan when Celine was only 9. They moved into Paris but her mother remained gypsyish in character. Lina never knew if there would be food or a home or if her mother would move without telling her daughter again and just expect her to follow. Times were rough. It was the era of the civil war. She watched as her queen and king were executed. And she nearly died in the riots.

That was why she was turned. Lina had, had a sweatheart and he had been fighting in the street riots. She had even participated in some as well. The night she was turned it was hard. Now she understands in order to turn it must be a full moon and you must have the intent to turn in your bite in order for it to work. She had been laying in an ally way in a puddle of her own blood when a vampire named Lucan found her. She had, had a secret at that point in time but her sweatheart was dead and she was dying. When she was turned, she lost her secret. Lucan was the only one to know even about it. He saved her life and she owes him gratitude but she still and always will hate being a vampire. Feeding only when she needs to and trying to control it so she never took too much. She had never felt- yet- the blood lust. She is the youngest vampire in their clan for it is not often a vampire is born- once every 500 years, or turned- as that is highly frowned upon and discouraged.

Gaia Name: The Corinthian P13R
Character Name: Joseph "Sable" Ames
DOB: March 1st, 1756
Appearance Age: Late twenties

Race: Vampire, Hunter Guild Member (More info on this in Bio section)
Personality: Joseph is a lover of woman. It's one of the first most notable traits in the man. Young or old, Joseph smiles on them kindly, and generally with somewhat lecherous intent. It is rare for women other than ladies of rouge to feel the same for him.

Beyond the man's rampant womanizing and bastardized chivalry, he is a man of convictions. He lacks moderation in most areas of his life. He's generally amiable, and views strangers as his comrades. He's trusting, kind, and dreadfully hedonistic. This is only in the case of his civilian life though. Politically, he is a champion for the poor in his own mind. Professionally, Joseph is a cold blooded killer, taking a sick pleasure in removing 'bloodsucking scum' from the streets. He's cold, stern, and efficient on the hunt. He views his Guild Mercenary work as a duty to God.

Many people believe him to be a poor, uneducated, dimwitted man, but he is nothing of the sort. While lacking in schooling because of his social status, the man is quick-witted and a clever thief. His work has accrued him a bit of wealth, which he hides along with his status as a member of the undead host.

Appearance: Joseph doesn't match the heritage that his name suggests. He stands at a little over six feet, with a medium build. His skin is swarthy and smooth, the a bit darker than the color of fine cinnamon. His eyes are nearly black, spattered with only the faintest touch of earthy brown. His hair is a wild mess of thick black curls that fall to his shoulders and is usually pulled back into a pony tail at the base of his neck. He keeps his beard shaved back to only sideburns if he can, but the shadow of it almost always haunts his angular jaw line.

The Arabic man typically wears a brown, threadbare waistcoat over a simple muslin shirt, well-worn pants and shoes in need of mending.

Biography: Joseph "Sable" Ames is the b*****d son of a French prostitute. He grew up in the company of brothel women, earning his keep as a pick pocket, and later as a bouncer of sorts. Through his many years on the backstreets, living in filth and poverty he grew to respect the hardships of the women around him, developed a playboy attitude, and found a burning desire to find a way out of the gutter. His mother died of syphilis when he was 13, the event devastated the boy, and only reinforced his growing dislike for his living conditions. He was taken in by a friend of his mother's, another prostitute by the name of Arienne whom he loved almost as much as his mother. He did his best to protect her from unpaying Johns, and would frequently steal food and money to supplement their paltry income. Through a fortunate twist of fate, Joseph was accepted as an apprentice to a tailor when he was 16, and things were finally looking up for him. It was the first 'honest' employment he'd ever had, and he worked his heart out. The boy knew his way around women's clothing, and was becoming fairly well known for his designs.

At seventeen, poised to take over the heaviest of his master's workload, tragedy stuck him once more. Arienne, the woman he'd been living with and who he loved, was murdered while working one night. A vampire had savaged the woman and left her lying in the streets where she was later found by one of her regular customers. Joseph blamed himself for her death (as young love struck men typically do) and vowed vengeance against the monster who'd killed her. While melodramatic, it was perfectly in keeping with the boys unmitigated passions. Very few people were surprised when he disappeared shortly after receiving the news. At the time he did not know what a vampire was, nor did he know that her murderer was one.

A string of similar murders plagued the area, and it didn’t take long for Joseph to catch up to the untidy killer. That night, he almost died at the hands of a young, bloodthirsty kin. He was saved by a member of the Hunter’s Guild who’d been seeking out the creature as well. The hunter was impressed by the boy’s courage, and more so by his tracking skills, and in that moment Joseph’s life changed for better or for worse.

His career as a vampire hunter was nothing if not infamous. He took his lessons to heart, and hunted his quarry like he was born to do so. After his training was completed, the boy was sent off to the Ivory Coast, where slaving ships were being targeted as meal tickets by craftier vampires seeking refuge and food. The captive meals were convenient, and the ships were heading to new and fertile hunting grounds- the America’s. Joseph garnered quite a profit selling his services on the side to take care of the problems for the ships. During his work he created a partnership with a young English hunter, a freelance by the name of Damien. Damien was the voice of reason in most of their escapades, while Joseph proved to be the overzealous muscle. Ultimately it was Joseph’s fervor that got the Englishman killed, and himself converted into a vampire

Their last hunt was on the docks of the Ivory Coast. The pair had been tracking a small family unit, who’d chartered passage to the America’ on a small Dutch slaving ship. They found the group lingering among the captives waiting to board the ship. There were only three vampires, and they all looked relatively weak. Sadly, one of them was an elder kin, and this didn’t get factored into the pair’s plans. It was a short fight. Damien was slain and fed upon, the youngest of the vampires was taken down, but the Elder managed to corner Ames before he could kill the next youngest. In a turn of poetic justice, Joseph was converted and abandoned as payment for his troubles.

Since then, Joseph has attempted to take his own life several times, and each time thought better of it. Each time, he reminded himself that vampires could now do very little to him. He was a weapon against them. He knew how they thought, and he was intimate with their hunger. It was enough of a revelation to keep him in this existence, and hunting. He intentionally stayed out of sight of the Guild for several years, even reporting his own death at one point in hopes that they wouldn’t come looking for him. HOnce enough time had passed, and he was satisfied that Joseph Ames was forgotten, he returned to France under the name Sable Ames in 1807, posing as his own son, and rejoined the Guild. He keeps his affliction hidden from them.

Possible idea's for another character: Lucan would be helpful.

The Corinthian P13R for actually joining!

Okay because this was requested of me I suppose I should help. I'm not exactly sure what to put, I'd meant the introduction and story line to give all the information but I guess not.

Creation:

How is a vampyre created? There are very few ways. In fact, the creation of a new vampyre is VERY highly frowned upon. In order to become a vampyre you must die. A full vampyre must drain half of your blood beneath a full moon. You have till the next full moon to heal. In that time your craving's are established. The vampyre that created you thus far, can not take blood from anyone but you during this month. At the next full moon, you are to be fully drained of any blood that is left. Should you choose not to go through with this you are killed. Should you're clan or the one who changed you so far find you lacking you will be killed. You can not simply heal and become normal again. Once you have been drained on a full moon and dye then you are commited to undead or death.

Births? Vampyres can not give birth. Or specifically.. it is extremely rare. Only one ever 5 centuries perhaps will give birth and it must always be a mortal woman who gives birth to the child. Because of that, it is even more rare than the 500 years for a child to be born.

Deaths

Sunlight, in many cases will kill a vampyre but it is not a sure thing. Objects blessed by a priest or a minister with conviction can be used. However, other weapons of death associated with other creatures can be used. Unknown to many is the knowledge that vampyres can also not bear silver. Similar to "where" creatures.

Traditionally a stake through the heart, or a silver bullet through the head will kill a vampyre. Holy Water acts like acid and only if the vampyre chooses to let it. Very simply put, a vampyre retaining their human beliefs can not be hurt by it.

Lives:

They do maintain lives. Young vampyres are adapting. Many new vampyres are able to stand a minimal of sunlight. Of course it may also be believed that it depends on the age of the vampyre that turned them. Born vampyres are incapable of standing any form of light. Newer vampyres result in what is similar to an allergy to the sun. It worsens as a vampyre "lives" longer.

Also, they maintain the age appearance of their age when turned. They do not physically age at all. Therefore looks are decieving. A vampyre turned at age 14 may be more powerful than one turned at 30.

Arrangements and Clans

When you are turned into a vampyre, the one who turned you is a member of a clan. It is based around "family" system. They mostly live in the same building now though originally a clan could be spread out throughout the land.

There are two groups of people: The council of Elders, and the Members. The council hold the leader of the members accountable. They elect him and his decisions are final unless a unanimous veto can occur on the council. Once elected, the vampyre must be killed before a new leader can be elected.

The elders are the eldest vampyres in the clan. Those who have been vampyres longest. The leader is the strongest vampyre in the clan.
