A white wild dog was digging into the ground. He rump waved in the air as dirt was pushed from the hole she was digging from. Her paws and muzzle were dirty from digging into the now soft and cool soil. Once the heated dirt was pused aside, she flopped into the hole.
She groaned and muzzled into the dirt to cool her lower half. That, however, did no justise to her back and face.
Grumbling, the dirty wild dog rolled over to cool her back as well.

Inyoni walked over, not quite as dirty, but rather wet from trying to use the trickle of a stream to cool himself off instead. He now felt sticky more than anything. "Feeling better?" He asked her, deciding to join in with the digging, tearing out chunks of the soil beside her.

"Yeah, a bit," Leini commented, blinking one of her vibrant red eyes. She stood up and pushed away the warm dirt again before flopping back to her spot. "Why's it so hot?" She questioned the older male.
She looked at him and giggled. "The dirt's really gonna stick to ya, you know," she commented noting that he was wet from the stream.

"'Tis the middle of dry season. That's why." He told her with a sigh, digging a big enough trench for himself and flopping down into it.
"I don't care if it does, it'll keep the sun out of my fur. It's a trick the hippos and elephants use." He explained, rolling about to get as much mud caked into his fur as possible.

Leini giggled. "And... that's because they don't have coats," She said, in an almost explaining way even though she had no clue what she was talking about.
Leini shook her head in attempt to get some of the flying dust out of her face.

"Well.. it's working, sorta.. I was cooler than before. Though it's not very comfortable.." He muttered, making a mental note to dive into the nearest pool of water to get it all off.
"It shouldn't be long before we reach water, anyway... and where there's water, there's usually shade."

She nodded with a sigh; rolling herself in the dirt. "Are we going to head off to it soon?" she asked after she stopped rolling the dirt.
She actually looked comical on her backin the dirt with all her legs in the air. She groaned and rolled back over to lay on her stomach to look at Inyoni, who was caked in mud. She giggled. "I suppose covering youself in mud wasn't a good idea," she commented lightly.

Inyoni chuckled at her, watching her as she flopped over to her stomach. "No, it wasn't such a good idea. Though it might have been worth the effort if it did work." He said with a smile. He then looked out over the mounds of freshly dug soil, thinking. "We might as well travel soon, once you've cooled off."

"Hmm... I guess you're right..." She said thoughtfully. Leini pushed herself up and shook the dust off her fur.
"I'm cool enough. Lets go," She streched for a moment and looked up. "Which way, oh mighty Inyoni," She said with a straight face.

Inyoni tilted his head, a little confused at such a reaction, before chuckling, turning to look in the direction of the waterhole. "That way, my little aprentice!" He replied with a grin, getting up and heading through the grass.

Leini let out a snicker after hearing and seeing Inyoni's reply. She bounded after him after letting him walk a small distance without her. She took step beside him and gave him a small smile.

Inyoni smiled back at her, before chuckling again. "You know, You've been getting a lot taller lately, you're nearly eye to eye with me now." He told her with a grin. "What happened?"

"I greeew~" She responded childishly with a laugh. "But yeah. You haven't noticed?" She questioned. She tilted her head slightly to the side. "How much father?" she asked; already complaining.

"Well.. Ikinda noticed." He said with an awkward laugh. "It's hard not to notice you." He teased, before rolling his eyes, looking ahead of him again. "It wont be far, look for the birds." He told her with a small yawn, the drying mud making it a little uncomfortable.

"I take that as a compliment," she replied to him puffing her chest out in a false sense of accomplishment. She looked up to the sky looking for the birds. She tilted her head at the sky. "Are you sure. They're probably on the ground," she said.
She gave a yawn. "This heat is tiring..." She said with a sigh, looking to the dry caked mud that was already craking on Inyoni's back.
