Sen was becoming increasingly bitter and withdrawn, and generally wasn't even realizing it. Apparently, no one else was either, because she could never seem to get a moment of spare time with her mother or father, and save for Ai, her older siblings brushed her off. Ai was the only person she could trust, as far she was concerned.
The look of distress on her face, her slouchy posture as she sat on Priderock, and her lowered ears and limping tail were all caused by the fact she couldn't find her oh-so-adored older sibling. Where had he gone off to? What was more important than spending time with her?
And she needed him now more than ever. Her second trip to the graveyard had been... Well, watching that elephant she'd befriended (even if it did seem slightly one-sided) die like that had opened her eyes. Made her think.
She was just going to get old like her parents, rot and die without anyone noticing or caring, wasn't she? No one would remember her. Nobody paid attention to her now. It wasn't fair!
"Hmph!" Sen huffed, and while it sounded angry, her face was becoming progressively sadder. She dropped down and rolled onto her back, staring at the sun despite the warning it was bad for your eyes.
"I wish I was the sun." If she was, they'd have to notice her, right?

Yue's life hadn't been all sunshine and roses either. Though he was such a brilliant colour of yellow, the stares of how he didn't fit in with his family well at all were wearing him thin. He did his best to hold his head up high, since he knew that his parents were proud of him, but he was tired of faking it. He had picked up the habit of rolling himself in the dirt as much as possible so that his bright yellow was more of a dull yellow, and it worked enough that the staring stopped, at least.
His problems weren't too big, though, as he might soon find out.
Yue was exploring bits of Pride Rock, having nothing better to do, even though he had already seen everything there was to be seen that was in such close quarters to him den. There were certain places, certain areas in the rocks that were neat to look at, so he was going bad to see them when he saw his sister. Mixed feelings filled his chest as he carefully inched up to her, hopeing to not spook her. He was about to say hello when he heard her outbust of a pout, and slinked back a few steps, not sure why she was so upset. He sat himself down, cocked his head to the side, and watched her before calling out to her. "Sen...?"

Sen was not angry toward her brother. She was angry at everything with equal volume. Which, for Yue, meant she would actually be nicer to him, since she had always been more frustrated with her brother than anything else.
"What?" the juvenile uttered miserably. She didn't care if he heard her talk like that. Her light eyes found him, and a surprised spark shown in them. "Mom's gonna get mad you're so dirty."

"Mmmph..." Yue held his tongue in defiance, not wanting to tell his sister why he was such a dirty dust ball. He felt like she might take it as a victory, since a huge sore spot between them was his coat colour and the attention it gave him. "I don't care," he said defiantly, which was a bit odd, since he kissed up to his mother's love quite often.
He balked when the sheer emotion of her words sunk in, though, and he could tell something was wrong. He wanted to know, the nosey thing that he was, but he wanted to tread around her carefully, a bit fearful of her if he set something off. "Why do you care, anyway, Sen?"

Yes, that was quite a surprise. Yue had always soaked up their mothers attention and lived on her every word, in Sen's opinion. Hadn't it been him wailing about getting in trouble the first time she went to the graveyard?
Of course, Sen was guilty of desiring their parents devotion, too. More correctly, she had been. It was interesting how alike they were given the givens. Sen no longer cared about what Ausi thought either.
"I'm just saying," she said honestly. It didn't really matter to her. It's not like anyone was going to get mad at Yue. Not really. "Do you need something?"
Because they weren't in the relationship to have meaningful conversations, or any at all, and that's what it seemed like they were doing.

Yue's ear flicked as he double checked what he heard. Woah. Obviously something happened to Sen that he didn't know about. She just seemed...no, felt different. A piece of him was pleased, since he was sure that it was because she recklessly went on an unsafe adventure, and she had gotten quite the scolding. But another piece of him felt bad, because getting in big trouble wasn't a good thing; he had only managed to do that once, and that was when he got stuck in a tree.
"I was just walking through," he said with most truth, though he wouldn't admit it was just to go stare at some rocks to pass the time. "But I didn't see you 'til I almost ran into you." Okay, that was a lie, but he wasn't one to ignore his family for any reason.

His sister snorted. Good thing he'd seen her, then. Now was not a good day to step on her. --Not that any day was really a suitable one to get tromped on. Still. "You should watch where you're going."
She could only imagine where he was going. To take a bath in the watering hole. To get more flithy. ...Wait. Why WAS he so flithy? Again, she gazed at her sibling, observing him much more than during the first glance.
He'd have to try to get that dirty. Yue didn't rough-house enough to accidentally have so much grime on him from a game. "Why ARE you covered in that?"
Probably for attention. Psh!

Yue's tail shifted around his side to curl up, a bit nervous now. Sen might out him to their mother, just so she could get in her good graces. He didn't mean to, but it seemed like everything between them was a competition. And it might just stick that way, too. Well, when they were both feeling more like themselves.
"'Cause," he started, still nervous. "'Cause I slipped and fell in the mud." Another lie, since the colour of the dirt didn't look like mud, and his coat wasn't wet, just dusty. "And I don't want Mom to get mad at me for being so dirty. So I'm...waiting for it to fall off." He had no idea what he was saying.

That had to be the biggest load she'd ever heard from him, and he'd said some pretty stupid stuff. "Liar. You would have to roll into it to get that dirty. Even if you just fell it wouldn't be that bad."
Sen rolled away from him, closing her eyes, "I don't care what you do. You're just a freak, is all." Who would get that dirty on purpose then lie about it? Weirdo.

Mad at her, he huffed, his cheeks puffing out for a moment before the air escaped from his mouth. He sulked for a moment, since he knew he was caught. Yue wasn't the best liar though, so it shouldn't of come as a surprise that he was caught red handed.
"Fine. I'm sick of my coat," he said harshly, not wanting to look at his sister, so his eyes shifted to the side to glare at the trees in the distance. His head lowered a bit, his shoulders poking upward, making his sulking seem more like a childish pout.

Yeah, it fig--- WHAT?!
"What?!" Sen had rolled back to face him so quickly, even if Yue had been looking at her, he'd barely have captured the motion visually. "You're sick of it?" She couldn't believe what she was hearing! As sour a taste as he left in her mouth, she'd never wanted to like, you know, hit him.
Until now.
"What are you talking about?"

Eeep! Error, error. Abort, abort!
Yue wished he could backpeddle and make her forget that she ever heard that, but sadly things didn't work that way. Nothing really ever did, and he sat there for a minute, recovering from the outburst that shook him.
"Umm...well." He started off shakey, but giving himself a mental kick helped him grow a bit stronger. "I'm sick of all the staring, of the comments. I just don't like it, Sen." That was about as much as he could say on the subject, scared that Sen would lash out at him again.

Sen stared at him. For a very, very long time. Finally, in a very low voice most her age wouldn't even know how to use in such a fierce way, she hissed, "You don't like it?"
Oooh. She was so tempted to just... She didn't even know! Claw his eyes out or something. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize how much all the attention must be bothering you! What a horrible life! You should run off to be a rogue right now before things get any worse!"

The words hit Yue hard. Run away? Run away from everything that he knew? His mind played with the thought for a while, but it was soon beaten down. No, he shouldn't leave at all. That'd just be running away, plus he was sure that Sen didn't mean it. She just seemed to be in a bad mood.
"Not all attention is nice, Sen," he said quietly, hopeing to not set off another venemous reply. "Sometimes I wish I blended in so well like you." He kept his eyes away from her, but the shifted to his golden paws with the little white tuft of fur that was covering his toes, since his tail was still curled around him, though much more tightly now.

Sen was livid, and that was putting it lightly. Perhaps if they were older, she'd have attacked him. Not that it was that out of character for her at her current age. It had been quite a squabble of tiny teeth and tiny claws she'd had with Riko.
Really, though, the thing that made her that angry was that someone had basically dared to call her 'normal' out loud. Just another face. One of many. It was unfortunate for Yue he'd been the one to voice something she was bitter about in her head.
"Sometimes I wish you'd fall off Priderock!" she snapped in response, her entire form shaking in rage.
