...The world was now truly safe, because Lord Voldemort had been defeated by a simple cheering charm.
Voldemort: I love the world! Whee! 4laugh
Seriously though, I did really like the ending. The only thing I would of changed is, I would of made the epilogue longer. I think alot of readers were somewhat dissapointed with the fact that almost nothing was revealed in the epilogue. That's my only beef.

I liked the ending but I would of had a little more of Ron and Hermione in there instead of just the kiss. I wanted to know more. It was really good though!! I liked it.

*smiles at Taylorsue* that's just because you're a RonxHermione nut... for the record I mean that in the good way... I don't know if I ever mentioned that, if I call anyone a nut, it's because I like them...
I really wouldn't change anyhting except the epilouge... And I probably wouldn't have killed Tonks and Lupin, that was what pushed me over the edge and made me cry...
But the only thing in the whole series that I really ever wanted to change happened in book 5. I didn't want Sirius to die... it was so sad...

Awww.. thank you. And yes I am a RonxHermione nut. haha I wish some of those people didn't die but how boring would the book have been if every single person lived happily ever after. I didn't want to see the people die, (I cried a ton too) but it was like destiny. I was surprised she didn't kill more. Also JK said in interviews that 2 major characters died. I know Voldemort but who was the other one. I think a lot of the people who died where pretty main characters.

You could find out more about The characters later in life if you go on Accio Quote. For example, Luna marrys Bewt scamanders son.. Or was it Grandson??? Whatever...
If I could change the ending, I wouldn't have Harry marry Ginny, because that is just too unrealistic. I would also (MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE!!) keep Fred alive.

I believe Jo is writing an encyclopedia, which will have background information on obscure characters.
The epilogue wasn't written to show where all the characters went. Though many fans desired this from the epilogue, that was not it's purpose. Jo wrote the epilogue to show that life goes on, and that Harry was okay, raising a family, and living a safe, normal life. She succeded in this, and I applaud her for not leaving it at the aftermath of the battle, which would have left us thinking many different things about the characters.
The epilogue fufilled its purpose, and I like it the way it is. I'm just waiting for that encyclopedia....

I agree with fourtysecondscarf... I liked the ending.
In the very first book, when Harry stood in front of the Mirror of Erised, the thing he wanted the most, his heart's true desire, was to have a family. Nineteen years after the fall of Voldemort, he got his wish.
He also complained in Goblet of Fire and the subsequent books about how he never had any normalcy in his life. The last line of Deathly Hallows where the scar hadn't pained him in nineteen years, to me, was poetic, because he got his wish there as well.
The only part I was disappointed in was the final fight between Harry and Voldemort. Harry showed throughout the entire series this uncanny understanding of what Voldemort felt, and how he felt, and what he would do...even without the visions. So, the ending, Harry telling Voldemort to feel some remorse, and his condescension toward Voldemort seemed weird to me. I don't know, I wasn't fully satisfied with the Elder wand not turning against Harry as being the downfall of Voldemort...it seemed too easy to me. I don't know, though, since I'm not JKR...she ended it the way she felt was appropriate, so that will be good enough for me.

I would have not have has the Epilogue but a few chapters on how they have to rebuild the Wizarding world, or something like that and I would have liked it better if Harry did not name all his children after dead people whee

lol I like that idea. I don't think i would have named them after dead people either. But did Ginny have any say in the names? He named his kids For HIS mom and dad, and favorite teachers. What about her?! lolz

I'm sure that they agreed on the names... but I wouldn't have named a kid Albus Severus... it sounds weird. If I were going to use those names, I would have named one James Albus Potter... it flows better.
And he didn't name them for his favorite teachers in plural. Just his favorite teacher. He hated Snape as a teacher.
