Yes I totally agree. We should reach out to everyone and let them know that we are proud people and no one can tell us otherwise! Let's form a coalition (group) that educates people on who we are and not what we are. Everything would be so much better that way if we could do such a thing.

It's totally sad that every 14 mintues a gay teen kills themselves. Us gay people through alot more stuff then stright people. We take what they dish out at us we fall or stay strong and fight back. I think there shold be a place where gay teens older people could live where stright people could not be allowed it. It's completly retarded that we take their crap and when we fight back they get theor football players on us. When we ignore tehn they get more violant.

yeah, but i know how it feels. I have been suicidal at times, i've self harmed, gotten so depressed i just wanted to shut out the world and turn my back to everyone.
Even now i still get depressed sometimes, though it isn't nearly as bad as it once was.

No one should have to suffer like that. It hurts so bad, i can't describe it. Gay teenagers should never feel like they're alone, like i once did, should never feel like no one could possibly understand, cause people do.
There just isn't enough support out there, enough recognition of what a real problem this is.

I don't mean to be the negative influence here but as much as people might band together and try to even attempt to make an impact, it barely makes a scratch on the surface of something much bigger that the majority of gays could never touch.

The gay community has already had a few big steps toward acceptance from the mass population. The acceptance of gay marriage in a few states should be enough to keep going.

It's not society that's killing our fellow gays but it's the people they know. The ones they go to school with and even their parents. The older you get, the more you are to stick into your beliefs that you grew up with rather than being open-minded.
I do believe our own government isn't sticking to its own rule to keep Church and State separate. The only reason is the bible. It's a sin to be gay. Don't forget this line: Religion is the opiate for the masses. This means that religion is such an addiction to society as a whole. When you have that many followers who believe homosexuality is a sin, the homo's lose.

When you live in a state ran by a governor who is a republican, if you're anything but a Christian or Catholic follower, you don't get what is rightfully yours and you never will.

We have to wait (unfortunately) for our children to grow up and be as open-minded as the baby boomer kids are. Yes, our kids are our future and that phrase will hold true til the end of humanity and if we don't open our kids' minds to the world and teach them what's wrong and right then we all lose in the end, even the oppressed bible thumpers. But I don't see the world changing much, especially the USA. Yeah, we might make a few new laws with a new president but when you get a new president in that doesn't like that law, that law then changes to the specifications of the new president to make him happy because that's what his beliefs are.

I'm not saying we shouldn't stick together because we should. We have laws protecting us, IE hate crimes, but sadly, most kids/adults won't report hate crimes that are done to them and even if they do, most cops won't do much. I do agree it's sad the way the world is right now but keep one thing in mind; we might be hated to some, ridiculed by others but we do have people that love us and if that emotion, that love ever disappears, becomes obsolete then we lose. We lose that friend we loved because they just couldn't feel loved. Without love, the world would cease to exist.

Gay teenagers have a lot to go for them. Being gay should never describe a person and it does to a lot of people.

"Oh, he's gay. He's probably the female one in the relationship. Look at how his hands move, he's so gay."

"Yeah, that chick is definitely gay. Stupid carpet munchers. I bet I could turn her straight."

I'm 26 years old and I came out when I was 19. I was lucky with my parents and friends because they don't care but the rest of my family is a different story. My grandparents and cousin told me to my face that I'm going to hell if I don't change. No, most people don't understand that this isn't a choice but SO many people believe it is. They can't help they're straight as much as we can't help it that we're gay.

Gay teenagers have places they can go and people that they can talk to. Suicide is never a last option but it is their choice. I don't believe teenagers should ever be put on antidepressants because that makes them want to kill themselves even more. Therapists are an exceptional way to realize new things and understand that people do love you and that you aren't alone in your struggle to be human.

I wish that was one thing people, society, the world would understand: We all bleed the same color blood. No matter race, gender, sexual preference, it doesn't matter. Every single human is built the exact same way. We bleed the same, s**t the same, pee the same, eat the same, sleep the same but yet, because of some contradictive book called the bible we are all but the same.

(Sorry for the ranting. I'm a passionate person when it comes to things like this.)

Umm, being a lesbian myself, I'm all for gay rights and completely agree that the US isn't doing a good job with seperation of church and state, but is this in the right section? confused

as a bi person myslef i agree!!!!! i hate hearing about GLBT's getting beat up or killed cuz of what they are...its just niot right!!!!!!!!
PostPosted: Wed Sep 30, 2009 5:06 pm

it's almost like i live in a fantasy world at my high school... either that, or i'm extremly oblivious, but the majority of kids at my high school are cool with gay people (like, some chicks hate lesbians, and some guys don't like gay males, but all in all, it's pretty decent) so whenever i hear stuff like this, it's a little odd.

don't get me wrong; i can totally understand how it's hard when your parents don't accept it and how bad that gets. not to mention how there are a lot of people outside the corner of my universe who wanna lynch us, but it's always terrible to hear about us killing ourselves. all my suicidal thoughts don't stem from my homosexuality (though i suppose it plays a small factor)

as far as banning together and being a supporting whole, it's hard to reach out to closet cases. why? cuz gaydar isn't real, and unless they display signs of gayness, how are we gonna know they need help? as far as the out kids go, they either have support or there's the gay community (which i'm having trouble thinking of as a community as we don't all live together or anything like a normal use of community...)

so yeah. nice to keep dreaming. i wish this was false. but really, not much we can do other than try to open everyone else's minds and keep looking to the bright side of life so we don't suffer the same fate.

Our GSA just made a "Did you know?" poster. Also, teachers fail to intervene 97% of anti-gay slurs.
Yeah. That is what our GSA is getting ready for. Ally Week where we have people sign a pledge

I'm all for banding together but how, exactly?

My school doesn't have a GSA or anything. We came close last year but no teacher would sponsor it. stare

I live in an area where there really aren't many GLBT people around.

I guess the best I can hope for is to go to a Pride Parade when I'm in college.
