I have a Pirates of the Caribbean fanfic up. There are three chapters so far, but now that I'm working on the fourth chapter, I'm at a total loss for what to write about that hasn't already been used. Here's the link to the story, if anyone wants to take a look: http://www.fanfiction.net/secure/live_preview.php?storyid=3109218&chapter=1Anyway, I'm always looking for ideas and suggestions from readers, but unfortunately I haven't gotten a whole lot (suggestions, I mean.)

I attempted to read your chapters, but the link says I must be logged in. Is this fixable? I have no real suggestions as to how to fix the problem except for posting it here, which would be large I assume.

I write fanfiction, and I'm proud of what I write, but I seldom update due to Gaia stuff.

It feels good...
I'm not a member of Fanfiction.net, so I can't see it either.
I don't write fanfiction. It's just not my thing.
I used to read Final Fantasy fanfiction all the time... Other than that, I don't like to read it. All I really ever see are badly done gay pairings of main characters. It annoys me.
...to know your mine.

Problem with fanfics is that many of them are pretty entertaining, and some quite original, but many are badly written. And I don't mean just detail orientation, I mean bad characterization. Any story can be made any way any author would want, but the thing that makes a fanfic writer good, is creating an outlandish idea, yet keeping the character's reactions believable. I stay around the anime/manga section of fanfiction personally, though. Even in just that section, I see lots of romance pairings that are anti-cannon so to speak, and wile I'm open minded, some are just so out of character it's ridiculous.

I agree, and it's something that drives me nuts (hope I'm not being hypocritical when I say that. O__o) That's why I always try to keep the characters I write about IC, otherwise I won't put the story up if I don't feel I know what I'm doing.

I like reading good fanfics, but they are so few and far between I don't even try anymore. I'd read yours, but I haven't seen Pirates of the Caribbean yet...

Lol, I am ridiculous when it comes to checking about 'in character' traits. I also hope you're not hypocritical too. It's just that it's realistic I think, to expect the characters you want to read about, to act like they usually do. I mean that's what makes us like those characters in the first place.

I tend to avoid writing about characters that I can't quite put a finger on. Actually, I feel that way about Maccus, who's one of the main characters in my story, but according to reviews, I haven't done a terrible job so far, thankfully. O__o
