Harper toddled after her. When they got to the door he observed it with a frown. He wasn't tall enough to open doors, even with his legs.. So?
"We push something to stand on? Or me stand on you! Since you can no stand on me." He glanced at her legs and shrugged. He thought about it a little more and remembered instances involving Soloman and Eliot throwing each other around the room, or throwing Sunny off places. "I pick you up maybe." Not really a question. He went to pick her up toward the door knob, clearly having no clue how heavy another person really was.

Jacoba suddenly found herself airborne; she reached up her hands and desperately rattled on the doorknob. Unfortunately, it was one of those round ones, slippery in her hands, and it took a great deal of pulling before it had any give. She was also fairly heavy in Harper's arms, despite not having any legs to add weight.
"HIGHER," she said.

Harper's eyes instantly went wide when he realized she wasn't as heavy as a like-sized stuffed animal.
"YOU HEAVY! NO BE SO FAT!" He yelled, his face rapidly going red as he tried to hold her up a little higher. He managed to, if only for a few seconds, before his body gave entirely and he collapsed to a seat on the ground.

Jacoba, out of pure instinct, hung on to the doorknob; she clung there like a monkey and gave away the whole game by letting out a fire-engine wail of displeasure. The door, at this abuse, also opened: but unfortunately at this point Xi had come out of the little room to the east and hauled her up in his arms.
"Now, how the sam hill did you two get out of there?" he asked, mystified. "Looks like we'll need to get those cribs replaced. Well, you two are just escape artists, ain'tcha?" Leaning down, he picked up Harper as well, balancing both children on his hips. "Your Time Out time is over anyway, nearly applesauce time. You two have fun?"
"NO," Jace announced sulkily. Her expression at Harper was clear: knocked out just when the going was getting good.
"That's great. You, Harper? Guess you two are big friends now? You won't pull each other's hair out or spit in each other's ears?" (In fact, they had never spat in each other's ears and it was just giving Jace ideas.)

Harper had resisted some when he was picked up, but despite himself when he was he settled with giving Xi a very sour face. Lips pursed, eyebrows furrowed, pupils narrowed on the other man's face, he shook his head quickly, "I no like you." He informed Xi.
Then he looked back to Jace and gave her an expression that could only be described as a visual whine,
"We so close- APPLESAUCE?!" Glee!
