Aekepi laughed, and shook his head quietly. The tailflame was real, alright. It just chose not to burn certain things [like him], and to char others to a crisp. He yanked his tail away from Cheka, just in case.
"No - It's not an illusion. And it MIGHT burn you - I don't know. Better to be careful on these things. I don't want you to get hurt."
He thought, but didn't add especially since you're kind of cute.... That was only a passing thought though, before something else caught his eye. Something falling from another one of the trees.
"Hey! Look over there!"

Cheka frowned as the tail was wisked away from his grasp. He wasn't afiad of getting burned. And the boy was flicking his tail around like he was taunting him to catch it.
Ears flicking forward his cat like gaze looked up sharply to where Aekepi had motioned. Ears laying backwards his tail invuluntarily vanished. He hadn't gotten the whole body dissapearing trick down pat. It took the greatest of concentration for him to do it....but..when starteled random parts of his body would vanish.
"What is it?" he asked not really fearful but now annoyed that his tail had gone awall on him.

Aeka peered into the spot where he'd see the thing fall. There was really nothing there, but Cheka didn't know that, and he had to get the boy into a position where he was... well... pounce-able.
"I don't know... Want to go check it out?"
He forgot to keep his tail away from the boy now, and it was hanging right in front of Cheka's eyes, swaying back and forth in a tantalizing manner.

More preoccupied at the moment to get his tail to re-appear the chesire car all but burt his nose as he looked forward again. Taking a step backwards so the heat wasn't quite so intense he distractedly nodded his head in agreement with what Aekepi said.
"Uh yah ..sure." he voiced the opinion before reaching up with both his hands wondering what would happen if he tried to snuff the fire out on the boys tail..

Aeka started off in that direction, tail sweeping back and forth, still lit. He didn't know what he was going to find when he got there... but he HAD seen the last thing fall from the tree, and he HADN'T been making that last one up.
"I hope it's not something living..." he murmured as he walked. "That'd be bad. Do you know your parents' phone number?"

The tail was moved out of his grasp before he could try and snuff it out. Eyes narrowing he fallowed the flame until a question was directed to him. Looking away he found light spots in front of his eyes and he shook his head distractedly.
"Uh wha? Parents? I have none." he replied though it wasn't true...he just had been staying away from his adoptive father cause the guy drove him nuts.
"What do you mean you 'hope' its not living? Wouldn't that make it more interesting?" he continued rubbing his eyes in a distracted manner. Damn light spots!

"I hope it's not living, because if it is, whatever it is - or whoever - might need medical help, and I'm not a doctor yet..."
He looked back to Cheka for a moment, then over at where the thing had fallen.
"Let's just be careful, ok?"
