Has anyone noticed all the destruction this summer? There was that New York water line that exploded and burned 90% of one guy's body (poor guy sad ) , that building in Dallas that exploded in fiery awesome blazes and now the Minneapolis bridge collapse. (My condulences to anyone involved in that. It sucked.)

Also, there was flooding in Texas because we finally got rain in June. It rained and rained and rained. I don't think anyone died from that...

Now we have the 4.0 earthquake near Price Utah that cause a coal mine to collapse trapping 6 people.

*edit, now after hearing the news and what my dad said (being a coal miner himself) the earthquake was no earthquake, the mine collapsed which caused seismic activity near the area.

there's still no word of whether the miners are alive or not, though they've been underground since 3:15am Mountain time. roughly going on 6 days.

from a miners point of view, the oxygen level is an extreme concern, once it gets below 18 is when things start to get bad, light headed, people passing out, etc, I would be highly doubtful of any of them still being alive. but the hope goes out to the families.

Everything seems to be heading downhill from here. It started from 9/11 and has been getting progressively worse.

I'm sure it's always been bad, Alex. You haven't realized that? Everybody and every generation has problems. There's always been problems. Always. And there always will be.

Heard a few days ago that 181 Chinese miners are possibly dead from drowning in flooded mines O.o I haven't checked up on it, but they're probably dead sad

But it is getting progressively better--civil rights, social awareness of problems, the literacy rate--we are moving in the right direction. Unfortunately, it's easy to fall into that hopeless attitude, especially if we only look at the present.

I mean, in the last fifty years or so, we established the UN, worked together with other countries for the common good, not to mention all the scientific discoveries that were made, and democracy is now the most widely accepted version of government.

On a smaller scale, our Civil Rights movement rocked our little world, we created Social Security, took laws that were unjust and threw them out--I'd say that's pretty miraculous all in itself, wouldn't you?

Yes, society has problems. But we're working on them. The last thing anyone needs is to hear "Society's just going downhill from here."

Our turn is up and the World has rolled against us. Humanity is on the downward slope.
