As predicted, Malcolm let out a groan at the mention of school. On the plus side, using a teleporter would make it better. He did wonder why they were all going to start in January, and not the beginning of the school year....but, whatever they wanted to do. As long as he was able to make some friends, he wouldn't mind.
He glanced up at Lonny, who was paying very close attention to what Charles was saying. When she could feel Malcolm's stare, she turned down to him and whispered, "What is it, honey?"
The boy made a tired face. "I wanna go home," he whispered back.
"All right, just wait until he's finished talking, and we'll leave."
Satisfied with her answer, Malcolm sat impatiently for Charles to finish his little speech.
"You all did very well today. Goodday," Charles concluded. Malcolm immediately jumped from his seat and tugged at Lonny's belt. Sometimes, he just had to act like the little kid he was. "Okay, okay, let me just get your teleporter." Gosh, did that sound weird, Lonny thought to herself. She took one of the teleporters sitting near Charles, looking at it curiously.
Shrugging a little bit, she put it tightly into her jean's pocket and waved good-bye to everybody.

Megan insisted that Photon stay by her side, coaxing him over even as she went to stand by her guardian. She had a protector!
"A transporter!" Megan whispered excitedly during Charles' speach.
"No." No way. No way in the world was she going to give something like that to Megan!
"What?"
"Just no."
"I want one!" but AriyaLauna ignored Megan, listening to the rest of what Charles said instead.
"School! I can't go to a school!" Megan looked up in near-panic at AriyaLauna.
"Shh, I didn't want you going to a school either, but we don't have a choice in this. Charles said we have to. Come on, sweetie."
"Miss Ariya said she wanted to teach me herself!" Megan blurted loudly to Charles, a look of defiance crossing her face, "I don't wanna go to no dumb school!"
"Megan...." AriyaLauna's voice had a warning, even as she picked up a transporter and put it in her pocket.
"But you SAID..."
"I said I wanted to but didn't think I'd be ALLOWED to...Now, shh...Maybe I can get a job there though."
"I hate you people! You're MEAN and BIG liars and only do stuff to hurt people," Megan burst into tears then, and went to the other side of Photon, leaning toward him a bit, but not touching him.
"Awh, geez..."
