It really depends why I'm in hospital and which hospital. I don't mind being in the CICU much, usually the nurses are very friendly. It's always a private room and once in a while I get nervous in hospital and they understand that more and aren't uptight about visitors at all. I remember one night I was scared and couldn't sleep so my boyfriend came by after work at about 1am. Otherwise I hate hospital. Anywhere else I have to have a roomate and the workers there tend to be a little more frazzled, not to mention they can never get an IV in me and think I don't need the IV specialist. It's like they have to prove their worth and I'm just a patient and don't know any better.

I hate the hospital so much. The hospitals here really suck at getting things right. When I was 4 I broke my arm and they didn't read the x-ray right and thought I dislocated my elbow and kept pulling on my broken bone. And then I had a lot of knee pain and the doctors told me I was nuts and to just put weight on my leg and because of them I have permanent damage to my fat pad. Also they put in an epidural and it got infected, it took 5 nurses 2 hours and 10 tries to get in the IV. Now they finally believe me that hmm maybe there is something wrong and are actually trying to figure out what it is. Grrr, I hate know it all doctors.

Let's seeeee...
I have to go every year for a checkup with like..54545345465454 different doctors [Mmm..Can I name them all? Let's see. I have two orthopedic doctors...One for my legs and one for my spine. Neurologist. Urologist. And then this one lady doctorperson who deals with independence and stuff. Oh. And a nephrologist once when I had kidney stones].
Also, I've had to have random tests done...for...random things. Usually dealing with my bladder or my brain. Fun stuff. |:
And...As of July 2nd of this year...I've had 13 surgeries.
Yes. I know the hospital well. xDD And no...The food is NOT good.
>w> And mine's also a Children's hospital. They said I can go until I'm like...20 something. Sweet.

I was just thinking back my life on hospital and man, I practically spent my childhood there sweatdrop and then there was this funny episode about my mom sneaking me out of hospital at night and all the ppl in the room helped and I spent many nights in many different kinds of countries.... I've been in China hospital, Korean hospital...and many different kinds too. Yeah....and trust me, haven't seen one hospital which had good foods. and this hospitals I mentioned are all just for overnights... if I count hospitals I went to check-up, I can't possibly count.. I got to compare cultures of hospital in many country though 3nodding and I say Americans' have best children's hospital 3nodding

I've never stayed overnight except for when I was born. Other than that, I've been twice as a patient - once for minor surgery, and once for a concussion. For all my other injuries and illnesses, I've gone to the Urgent Care to get patched up. I volunteer in a hospital though... That can definately be interesting. The food in the cafeteria isn't all that aweful, depending on what you pick (but then again , I have the luxury of being able to pick and choose, and if only the pastries look good that day, screw nutrition!). Some of the nurses care more than others, but that's true of most people. The nurses in the children's hospital are definately more attentive in certain ways, but there are a lot of reasons for that. You can reason with an adult and explain to them why they have to put up with an IV or oxygen mask; a five year old doesn't tend to respond as well to logic, so they have to be entertained and bribed a lot of the time. An adult can understand what's going on and even if it's unpleasant, (s)he realizes why everything's being done and can grasp the situation. Young kids can't, slightly older kids maybe... Also, I'm pretty sure there's a lower nurse to patient ratio in the children's hospital.

I don't know how many times I've been there .... every year I'm in the emergency room for something or other ... or a surgery, my mom's learned not to promise "this will be the last one" lol.
I love the "diets" they put you on ... those always make me laugh looking back but cringe when its infront of me. You can't eat it!!! You can't leave the hospital until you start eating stuff yet they feed you things that are almost un-etable. And for the diet's thing ... my cousin's Grandmom is diabetic and when she was in the hospital they gave her an all sugar diet. Everything had sugar in it. She was like "are you trying to kill me??" Two years ago i had my last back surgery and was traked (temperarily) in the process. I also had a tube down my nose ... won't get into details ... anyways I have two different tubes going down my throught and they're wondering why I'm complaining of a sour throught and refuse to eat anything other then broth. I wonder why .... *ponders the difficult question* Oh wait, could it be there's no more room in the throught to fit food?? They also pumped me with nutrition stuff all night and then wonder why I won't eat breakfast and hardly lunch.
Some one also mentioned something about nurses caring more and being more attentive ... I get what your saying. I just turned 18 but my hospital I think will take you until your 21 ... so I have accouple more years lol But I have learned to watch the nurses and figure out which seem to do it because they're enjoy it and care, and then which are there for the paycheck. I had one nurse tell me "oh that doesn't hurt. Stop complaining" as she's shooting a med into my IV. By the end of the day my mom had kicked her out of the room. Needless to say she was pretty pissy with us for the rest of the visit.

Come to think of it, when I was really little and I was in the hospital in Korea....there were restaurants in the basement. And there were fried chickens.....oh the smell of the fried chickens taunted me...but here's the catch....no patients allowed. Only doctors/nurses/ppl who came for a visit were allowed.. in other words..healthy ppl. But I wasn't gonna give up, you see. So I begged my uncle(who always let me do what I want to do when I beg) and sneaked in there and ate it behind the big pole so the cash register lady couldn't see me... there was another time, I'd go in the restaurant just to make the lady come after me(she really did sweatdrop ) There was grocery stores in the basement too. Now that I think about it, I think "What kind of hospital was that" sweatdrop
