" In truth Sasuke was just tired of everything. He just wanted to kill Itachi then worry about what became of his life after that. But the burden was heavy. He wanted a rest from it if only for a few minutes. " I don't hate you. I just really wish I never met you because you distracted me from my goal. You made me waste time..."

"Well, you've wasted my time, too! Yeah, I got stronger, but I'm working on every thing I can to be strong enough to beat your a** and bring you back to Konoha, like I promised to Sakura-chan!" Naruto growled, landing a punch on Sasuke's cheek as he sat on his stomach, the clones holding the Uchiha down. He sat there and panted a bit, glaring down at the other male. "Instead of just working on becoming Hokage, I've gotta figure out how to get you back!"
Naruto's clones had seemed to forget they even had kunai the moment one of them knocked the Uchiha down. Since he hadn't seemed to want to react at all, they shifted to pin him down, thus leading to their current position. "Damn it, Teme!" the blond growled, landing a punch on the ground beside Sasuke's head as the clones disappeared in small poofs around them.

Naruto stared at Sasuke while he talked, and then flinched a little as the Uchiha began speaking illy of Gaara. "Gaara... became Kazekage. He fought for, and died for his village... and because the Akatsuki wanted the stupid bakamono that was inside him..." he growled. His eyes seemed to shift a bit as his eyelids fluttered slightly. The slash to his shoulder had been bleeding quite a bit, and he was starting to get a bit light-headed, even if the Kyuubi's powers were slowly starting to heal it.
"I don't accept 'something I had to do' as an excuse." Naruto mumbled. "Kakashi-san and Sakura-chan would help them let you back in... and I don't think the old lady would just kill you." He was clinging to the hope that he could bring Sasuke back, and to consciousness.
((geh.. haven't got entirely far through the whole 'Gaara's kidnapped by the Akatsuki and is having the Shukaku sucked out of him'... actually, I'm only as far as team Gai fighting Kisame, and Team Kakashi with the old lady fighting Tachi-san.))

" Sasuke said calmly and pushed Naruto off of him. He tore a strip of fabric off of his shirt and unzipped Naruto's jacket. He threw the article of clothing aside, and tied the impromptu bandage around his former teammate's shoulder. " I don't want you to die here...there is still an unsettled score between us...Since when did you start wearing fishnet shirts under your jacket?"( Later in the series it reveals that Naruto indeed wears a fishnet shirt under his jacket whee burning_eyes heart eek blaugh )

Naruto had protested little, having almost no choice. He winced a little as the bandage was tied, staring up at Sasuke with half-lidded eyes. "Training with Ero-sennin... wore down my old clothes..." he grunted in response to the question about the fishnets. It was starting to get rather dark, and his eyes flitted in the direction he'd been working on a fire at. He was just barely able to see the shape of his tent, and that was with blurred vision. "Why... don't you want to go back?" the blond murmured quietly.

Sasuke didn't answer Naruto's question. He wouldn't understand. " I'll stay with you for a little while...but then just go on your way. You can't stop me from what I need to do...but perhaps we can figure something out after all this is said and done..."

Naruto frowned a little, and then he relaxed where he was. For a bit, he just lay there and listened to the things around them as he felt the kyuubi's chakra move around the wound to help in healing. It was almost a tingling sensation, and it made the wound sting a bit more. After a little while, the blond succombed to unconsciousness, his breathing slowing a little.
Naruto's tent was a 2-man tent, since they usually sent more then just one person out for missions, and such. His pack was tucked inside, and the pile of pinecones he'd had to collect were sitting next to the tent. There was a pile of dried leaves and small sticks in the center of a small ring of rocks, and then larger pieces of wood in a pile nearby. There was a metal teapot sitting inside the tent as well, and in Naruto's bag was instant ramen. It seemed he packed in his own way for the trip.
((that would be a kickass camping trip... ramen cups for food, maybe some ramune...))

Sasuke made a few hand signs and used a toned down version of his Katon: Gokyaku no jutsu to light the fire. He found the tea pot in the tent, got some water from a nearby stream, and set it up over the fire. He looked over at Naruto's sleeping form and for some reason remembered when he brought his face close to his best friend's before he left him. He often wondered why he did that instead of just leaving...and why did he put his arm around Naruto when they met again?...' who cares...it's not like any of that matters. All that dobe has ever done is hold me back and make me think I feel things..." Sasuke didn't want to admit it...but when his face was hovering just inches from Naruto's unconscious form...he felt something very profound...and he knew that if he thought about it then other feelings would come out...and that would complicate things even further...

Naruto wasn't unconscious for too long, but he was still a bit drowsy when his eyes fluttered open next. His gaze shifted around, before settling on Sasuke. For a moment, he thought he was dreaming, and then he shifted a little, feeling a dull throb in his shoulder. "H-Hey... How long was I out...?" the blond moved his good arm to rest over where the wound was as he forced himself to sit up. His head swam a bit, but sorted itself out after a few moments. Azure eyes drifted back to the Uchiha again, taking in the fact that he lit the fire, and that the teapot was heating up on it.

" For about half an hour... " Sasuke said as he looked over in Naruto's direction. He didn't know why he bothered staying. Why hadn't he left by now? " Hey, can you not tell anyone you met me here? I mean, there's nothing stopping you from doing it but if you do promise then you can't go back on your word...because that's your stupid way of the ninja isn't it..."

Naruto stared at Sasuke for a few moments, then looked down into his lap. 'I... I don't know if I can promise..." he murmured. "They need to know about you, too... " He dwelled on that thought process for a few moments, still staring at the ground. And then, after a few, he shifted and stood, wavering on his feet a bit as he wandered over and sat next to the Uchiha at the fire with a grunt. "It is my way of the ninja, though... to never go back on my word." the blond confirmed in a murmur.

Sasuke felt uneasy as the blond sat next to him. Why did he feel sick on the inside when Naruto got close to him? " Forget it dobe. If it's your way then don't promise me anything." He looked over at the tent " I think I'll go rest soon. I've been wandering around alone for a few days with very little sleep."

"That's not healthy..." Naruto murmured, then shut up. He, himself, tended to train for days on end, or work on missions, without sleeping for even full weeks. "I only packed for one, but... it's not like i'm gonna stop you..." he gave almost a weak chuckle at that, and went quiet again. It was a bit weird, sitting next to Sasuke again after all that had happened... at first, he was a bit uneasy, yet, now that they'd been talking for a little bit, he felt a little more relaxed.

Sasuke decided to forgo the tea and went straight into the tent. He flopped down on the sleeping bag and fell asleep almost instantly. ( my own alertness level is affecting my RP...Cicero is mighty tired right now sweatdrop )
