It means it's already running and refuses to try and open up again. Normally, to stop it, look at the bottom right of your computer. If there is a game guard icon, just roll your cursor over it to get it to disappear.

this used to happen to me, just give it a couple of minutes break time, and try again, if not than restart your computer lol

Go to your processes and look for Gamegaurd.des, if you find that or anything else labeled gamegaurd, then end the process.

It means that you may have tried starting Maple and for whatever reason, it failed to do so or was closed wrong. Gameguard will still be running and requires a restart to play Maple again.
