Eager to catch up to her friend Manny kicked off her sandals and hurriedly yanked off her jeans, leaving them a pile on the grass. She waved her hand to Antony, "Come on, I'm sure the water's fine." With that she scurried down to the water's edge, not worried at all that she didn't know how to swim. Riley seemed to, and if Riley could do it then she surely wouldn't let Manny drown. Hearing Harper calling she turned and paused for a few moments, smiling at the funny way he was walking.

Estelle nodded her head to Victor, "Thank you, I'm honored." She looked over toward the kids, now barreling toward the water. She wasn't too worried about Manny's clothes, they could be washed after all, she was just glad that the kids seemed to be having fun. Since things seemed to be picking up she turned her attention to the man talking about Harper's safety, "I'm sure they'll keep a good eye on him."

Shiori decided to have a seat at the picnic table and settled Kisala on her lap. The little girl looked very off-put at not being allowed to wander about and squirmed some more until Shiori finally caved and let her down, though she kept one of Kisala's little hands in her own to make sure she didn't tear off for the forest or anything.

The little girl wobbled inexpertly back over to where Victor and Estelle stood, looking up at them and inspecting for any shiny objects. Shiori found herself hoping neither had decided to wear any ankle jewelry or anything, as it would probably find itself in the child's hands before long.

"Do you come up here often?" she asked. She'd never really met either of them before, and wondered if this was a regular gathering, as their children seemed to know each other fairly well. She hoped she wasn't intruding, at least. But she did like this area. There was a spot just off the lake she could see that might make a perfect meditation area.

...not that she got time for meditation outside of the Temple...or inside it, really, with Kisala tagging along all the time.

Antony nodded and stared down into the water for a moment before stepping into the water. Shade walked over to the dock, diving in and swimming out to the deeper part.

"C'mon in, kid, try to make it out here," Shade called.

"Yeah, if anyone's going to get in an accident it'll be Riley. And it won't be the first time," Runeh commented with a smile that would commonly be found on a fox. Not the most reassuring image, to be sure.

Not wanting the have the youngster unattented, Victor motioned for Kai to go down and join the children. He did so with a nod and without complaint. What Victor said, went. That was how it always was. Victor turned back to the adult guests. He offered a smile towards Shiori, "Actually this is our first time here. My friend always told me he had a place at a lake, but I had never seen it before."

Riley had leaped off the dock right when she got there, making a huge splash in the process. When she came back up her hair was dripping and she was blinking her eyes to clear them of water. She then waved to her friends, grinning. She even encouraged the little Binkie Boy. "Come on, Harper! You're practically walking faster then Antony!" It was a friendly tease, nothing more.

Harper, though frustrated, found the encouragement to be.. well, encouraging, and tried his best to speed up. Despite having fairly good balance for a twerp his age this bubble-boy thing was still proving difficult, but wabble he did, even when his mother passed him with only a snort and no offer of help whatsoever.

Eventually, Harper managed to get to the water, (the last step being a leap into the first inch of water or so.) He slammed into the dirt, rolled over, and found himself floating right side up in the murky blue.

"Just so you know, you are bathing in bleach and taking tapeworm medication before I let you in my apartment again." Ashley called out to her son, frowning with distaste at all the other icky kids around him. "Don't let him drown, okay?" She asked of all of them, as if (after that) they would like her enough to do anything she asked. All she knew was she did NOT want to get in that water.

Sunny exhaled, visibly relaxing. "I'm sure it will be fine, Harper's pretty good at keeping right side up anyway. Goes in the pool at our apartment complex.. hey.. can I ask, whats up with these kids? None of them really seem normal.." Yeah, Sunny was great at beating around the bush and making sure not to offend people in the process...

"Yay Harper!" Manuela cheered as the toddler reached the water, blissfully ignoring the woman's rude comment. She liked this place, Riley and her brothers came up with nice ideas. "Are there any fish here?" she asked Riley, cautiously going deeper into the water. It would be neat to catch a fish while she was here, even if it was just for a few seconds.

Estelle looked over toward the kids with a frown, "Well, I don't know about normal, but I know I wouldn't change anything about Manny. She's my little miracle." That statement may have been biased though, as she knew that she was a biological parent, which as far as she knew, none of the others were.

Antony, irritated by Riley's comment, walked straight into the water, going as far as he could until his feet could barely touch the ground. "Father--"

"Kick your legs and use your arms," Shade told him, keeping an eye on all the kids even as he waited for Antony to try and learn to swim. "Are you ladies okay? And you, kid?" he called to the others. He was being nicer to them than he was to Antony, Antony thought irritably as he started to kick.

Riley didn't really understand what the strange lady was saying, but she certainly didn't like the nasy look she was giving them. So she politely stuck out her tongue and pulled the bottom of her eyelid with a finger, making a face in response,"Neeehh." Well, wasn't she being quite the charmer?

She stopped upon being addressed by Manny. "Mm...I dunno! Let's find out!" She ignored Shade's call only because he had said "ladies" which didn't apply to her. Or at least it didn't click in her mind as such, so the comment had gone over her head. She ducked down in the water, being the only one who knew how to swim, and drifted about blinking through the murky liquid to see if there was anything else there that...well...wasn't the kids.

"Well, they weren't born normally after all," Victor replied, seeming unsurprised by the question, "So...it's no wonder some of them are a bit different. Our Riley has sparrow genes in her." If this weren't gaia, which was full of strange things, one would say many of the children were freaks.

Harper grinned at the two girls, then Shade and kicked around wildly as he floated deeper into the water. He managed to stay within range of the others, however, rather than drift out to 'sea,' but Ashley visually located a large stick just in case she had to tow him back in anyway.

Ashley put her hands on her hips, looked Riley up and down and snorted again rather loudly. "Fine. But are you sure you want to go to jail for negligent murder this early in your life?"

Sunny scratched his head, a nervous habit more than anything. "Uh, I guess. I guess I'm just not sure why people would bother when as far as I know when there are plenty of normal kids around, too.. errr.. don't get me wrong, I like the kids and all." He shook his head and took another few steps back, deciding to bail out on that conversation as fast as he could.

"He won't drown," Shade called to the lady on the shore. "I'll keep an eye on him--" Right then Antony started to go under and Shade darted forward, catching his son under the arms and hauling him back up. "Use both arms and legs, kid, now try again."

Manny laughed at the tone of Ashley's voice, thinking for some reason that the woman was being sarcastic. Harper was going to be fine, they were just in a little lake with a bunch of people everywhere, what could happen? Taking Shade's advice to Anthony she went a little deeper, sticking fairly close to Riley, and found that it was pretty easy to stay afloat.

Estelle seemed to think about this for a moment, then shrugged, "I don't know really. I think some things are fate, and maybe some of use were meant for these kids because we were best suited to take care of them." Well, some of the people were well suited at least. Others... Maybe not so much.
