Same here. I find that beta-ing helps me increase my writing since I become more aware of what I'm writing.

I've thought of charging once I've gotten a bit more established here. I don't see what's so crazy about the idea. I mean, people on here charge up to 40k in Gaia gold to draw for you. I figure, if artists that draw can charge, and Gaia is now taxing you when you sell something, I should be able to charge too. Of course I would never charge that much. Now that I've been around the forums, I think a hundred or so is a nice, cheap price, considering. As a writer, you are taking time away from your own writing to fix someone else's mistakes - just like any editor. Just putting that out there for everyone to think about...

CocoReed: I can see what point you come from, and as a former business woman myself, it seems silly to continually pay someone for everything you're writing. That kind of beta/gamma relationship shouldn't be paid for, even with the uniqueness of the Gaian economy. I can understand things like checking over roleplay applications, etc.
However, if artists were compared to authors, a more suitable analogy would NOT be to beta, but to actual writing. I have seen absolutely splendid authors lease out their skills for a certain sum, although, to my knowledge, none have been terribly successful.
