I was just wondering what you guys thought of it.

I only have one volume, volume 4, and I didn't like it much, I'm not sure if I should bother getting the rest, but I probably shouldn't judge the whole series on just one.

But if I didn't know better, I'd say half the pages were ripped out, the stories seemed like that anyway. I finally understand the complaints of Monkey Punch writing half stories xp

Well, share opinions.

P.S. ( As of, a few hours ago or something, I've officially read all 14 volumes of the first series. Yay me, or something! xp )

xD I like the poll. It made me laugh.

With that said, I haven't read any of the second series. I'm halfway done with book 11 in the first, which is the last book I have. I wonder if I will ever be caught up in Lupin manga again...

There are some stories that I wish he would have continued with. My thought is that he would draw them and then only have two pages left so he'd make a quick ending, whether it made sense or not. Probably not how it happened, but it sounds good to me. xD

It depends on the volume. I remember enjoying some stories, even when they ended shortly, because it was handled well. Some were just half-written.

On thw whole, I think the first series was better, but I guess that's the problem when it's no longer just one person. Too many cooks in the kitchen and all.

The early volumes are fun, there are some very good Monkey Punch plots. A very good chapter (it might be in volume 3, but I'm not sure) is called "The Rest is Silence". It was actually a drama-esque Lupin, but no angsty or anything. There are no words, but it comes across very well.

I agree with Twonk. There are some very abruptly ended ones. Those are often the funniest, though. xd

I'll look into that one, then..

I agree that alot of the times, the abrupt endings were awesome, which is why I wondered why so many people complained about them whee

Some of them are weird though. Like the Goemon one.
So Lupin's having sex with the assasin chick.. Goes on and on (usually his smartass talk's funny, it wasn't to me in that one).. And then he's magically there to undo the lock xp

And then there was that one with Jigen and his "rat" friend who he tried to kill, but he was still alive.. So he said now he had a chance to die for him too.. What was the point of that one? confused

I guess I'll have to get more though, there's a story I read about in the first one that sounds good, hopefully it is xp

They seem to get lazier and lazier with the translations as time goes by though. Near the end of the first series, they didn't even translate the honorifics so you get "Hey, Fujiko-chan, where's Lupin-kun?" and in my volume of World's Most Wanted, the pages aren't even numbered. Plus in one of the chapters, Zenigata called an old guy "Oji-chan", can't they even translate that? xp

Twonky- Yeah, I only had around half, but I found a bunch of special, so I got them all at once.. I read them a little fast, but some of them were pretty awesome. But, I kind of doubt I can find a nice deal on the second series ones, so I'll just have to get em slloowwllyy xp

I saw a similar special on some website, but by then I already had 8 or 9 of the books, so it wouldn't have done me any good. xP

Borders had not one Lupin book. And the whole manga shopping experiencing in the store was aggrivating.

To be a bit more off topic here....I read the one Nani wants finished, with the girl with the tattoo in book 11, and the one right after that was really really odd. It scared me. And it never seemed to end. And in the unfinished one I found that his grandpa having all those kids was just gross. And wrong.

I'll have to read that one again to see what you're talking about..

But I agree that his grandpa with all those kids was scary, I kind of skimmed though that one neutral

I still want that story finished, even if it ended as weird as it looked like it was going to.
I just want the stupid thing finished!

Yeah, Lupin's grandpa still having small children...was disturbing.
Though Lupin's first reaction when his dad says, "They're all your kids!"
is funny. It's like he never thought about it. xd

And going back to book 4 that Pirupi was talking about. Most of those stories have no point. The one with Goemon especially was odd. How was Lupin in two places at once?

In book 1 you get to meet Melon Cop, though. His story is really odd, and man is he ugly. xd
Zenigata hates Melon Cop.

Zenigata hates everyone in the comic xp

And on the Goemon one.. Yeah, it's just kind of "And here he magically is to help his friend!" xd
The show is at least a bit more.. complete.. Showing how instead of just magic xd

Monkey Punch seemed to leave alot of stories unfinished, especially in the later ones xp Well, I'll read that one again tonight hopefully.

Monkey Punch was probably under alot of time constraints, which is sad. There are alot of stories that should have been finished, though in a way, the open-endedness of it all kinda fits.

Zenigata is alot angrier or something in the manga. He's also smarter, which I wish he was more occasionally in the anime.

The oddest story, to me, is one of the early stories in the first manga.
The chapter when Jigen is hired to capture Lupin, and then there was a showdown in a building under construction? And it looks like Jigen and Fujiko are together at the end?
I have never understood the ending.

I figured he might have been under alot of contraints as well. The earlier seemed to have more endings, or the endings that were left open were part of his style, really.

I also wish Zenigata could be smarter sometimes. I guess they don't know what to do with him. He's really angry though, it's funny.

I'll have to read that one again, I don't remember the ending except Jigen keeps trying to hit on Fujiko, and he gets shot or something..
