Nestling herself in his embrace, she whispered his name once as she drifted off to sleep. For once, there were no thoughts of heads upon pikes, raping soldiers, or remembrances of the pain she had endured but several nights ago. Tonight, Tinuviel dreamed.
She was asleep, curled up under a tree, book in hand. The sweet scent of spices filled the air, and birdsong trilled in the distance. A familiar voice spoke her name, and a soft touch roused her. It was her Apollo, dressed in all his finery.
Wiping the sleepers out of her eyes, she found herself in the palace gardens as they had been described to her. Smiling down at her, Apollo pulled her to her feet. His voice eager, he said, "Come, Tinuviel, I have a gift for you."
He led her a short distance to a smaller garden that had previously been abandoned. Now it was a menagerie filled with every beast imaginable: apes, big cats, birds...Their mistress was thrilled to see them all, and Apollo thrilled just as much at her smile.
As dreams often do, the scene cut away to a balcony of the palace where throngs of people awaited below. Tinuviel stood next Apollo, who spoke to the people below. He had already rattled off various positive attributes of hers, and now he asked them, <
