Has anyone heard of The Gaslight Anthem? I was prowling the Warped Tour website, and you can imagine how excited I was when I stumbled across them. Their sound isn't really anything special, but there are some interesting lyrics.
"When we float out into the ether, into the Everlasting Arms, I hope we don't hear Marley's chains we forged in life. 'cause the chains I been hearing now for most of my life."
Their myspace only has three songs. Does anyone else have an opinion?

All you need to do i go to Last.FM and hit "Dark Cabaret" into the search engine. I HIGHLY reccommend Pretty Balanced, although their second album is electronica, technically, their first album is piano-based. Both albums are quite remarkable, and perfect for if you love dark, pretty songs. http://prettybalanced.com/Vermillion Lies is another cabaret-ish band that's pretty fun. http://www.vermillionlies.com/ They're on tour with Amanda Palmer! and one song is "Lenore's Song" by Yunyu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzSstcvLmYM it's a response to Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven" and is easily one of my favorite songs of all time.

CWnerd12 Another sort of steampunkish band that I've remembered is Triana Park, from Latvia. They're not as steamy as the other bands, but they have a circus theme (can't go wrong with that!) and the music is really good! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLzVeJOZzOM http://ustrendy.com/triana-park/ http://trianasparks.draugiem.lv/ Hehe, in the video you linked, the singer reminds me of Columbia from Rocky Horror :3 (but less sparkly)

Steampunkish, and free to download. Give 'im a listen. I have to admit, "Lenore's Song" is incredibly addictive. Thank you so much for suggesting it... I first listened yesterday (also free to download on Yunyu's myspace page, along with several other songs), and it already has numerous play counts. Also, the song "Many Funerals" by Eisley is excellent. I've never before considered them to qualify as steamy, but at least this song has changed my mind. Are there any other Eisley gems I may have missed?
Oh, and for those of you who have yet to discover it, Sepia Chord is very helpful.

Captain Amaranth If you want my view on Abney Park, their genre of music is anachronistic gothic; whilst their style is pure Steampunk (at least now). However, I wouild just like to point out that the topics they cover within their songs usually have a "pure" steampunk tilt. Or is that what you meant when you said "anachronistic"?

Old thread, I know, but I'm pretty new 'round these parts. I just wanted to mention the proto-industrial band Test Dept. They're not strictly steampunk per se, but they do have a 19th century London feel to a lot of their music (with full orchestra and rhythmically clanking machinery) so they've definitely got steampunk appeal. Anyway, check 'em out.
