And back to the issue at hand: the knife wasn't going to miss its target. Yariel wasn't that clumsy with a blade. Tiem couldn't use telekinesis or something to stop it. And Yariel was trained well enough to know how to use a knife as simple as stabbing it down. So, it never misses. Tiem had no way of stopping it.
